Patent number: 8196665Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for containing an oil spill caused by a subsea blowout, (i.e., a source of pollution located on a floor of an ocean, (e.g., a defective blowout preventer (BOP) that caused the oil spill)). A cylindrical containment assembly may be positioned such that a wall of the cylindrical containment assembly circumvents a portion of a floor of an ocean where the subsea blowout occurred. At least one mud flap may be configured to selectively protrude from the wall or retract into the wall when activated to control the depth that the cylindrical containment assembly sinks to below the ocean floor. A valve assembly may be positioned on the top perimeter of the wall. The top perimeter of the wall may have the same diameter as the outer perimeter of the valve assembly.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2010Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Subsea IP Holdings LLCInventor: Scott Wolinsky

Patent number: 8196666Abstract: Flexible riser, comprising a length of a flexible pipe with an upper end, a bend restrictor and a termination for hanging up on a vessel, a floating installation or a platform, distinguished in that the bend restrictor in the upper end is connected to an adapter pipe extending from a lower end at the bend restrictor to an upper end, to an end coupling to which the upper ends of both the flexible pipe and the adapter pipe are fastened, the flexible riser extending through the bend restrictor and the adapter pipe and the end connection comprising a means for hanging up at deck level of the vessel, the installation or the platform. Method for pulling-in and hanging up of the flexible riser.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2006Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Advanced Production and Loading ASInventor: Sigmund Askestad

Patent number: 8196667Abstract: A technique is provided for pumping fluids in a subterranean wellbore. A submersible pumping system can be deployed in a wellbore for moving desired fluids within the wellbore. The pumping system energizes the desired fluid movement by reciprocating a working fluid between expandable members.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2011Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Murat Ocalan, Steven Dornak

Patent number: 8196668Abstract: A technique that is usable with a well includes running screen assemblies into the well on a base pipe. Each screen assembly is associated with a different zone of the well to be gravel packed. During gravel packing of the well, the screen assemblies may be selectively configured to contain pressure without running a tool inside the base pipe to form a fluid seal.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2006Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Gary L. Rytlewski, Sidney Jasek

Patent number: 8196669Abstract: A method of drilling a wellbore (1) into an earth formation is disclosed. The method comprises arranging a drill string (6) and an expandable tubular element (8) coaxially in the wellbore, the drill string having an axially extending fluid passage (30), the tubular element surrounding the drill string and having a lower end bent (12) radially outward and in axially reverse direction so as to form an expanded tubular section (10) extending around a remaining tubular section of the tubular element, said lower end defining a bending zone of the tubular element, wherein an annular space is formed between the drill string and the remaining tubular section.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2008Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Shell Oil CompanyInventor: Petrus Cornelis Kriesels

Patent number: 8196670Abstract: A stop collar or like device is formed in one piece to have a portion for a tool to be attached. Movement of the tool allows the collar to be drawn tightly into engagement onto a pipe or other tubular member. A bow centraliser has alternate bows longitudinally offset to reduce initial insertion force. The centraliser may be formed to have end bands of the type used in the stop collar.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2010Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Domain Licences LimitedInventor: Andrew Jenner

Patent number: 8196671Abstract: An agricultural machine includes a disk blade assembly having a hub and a disk blade mounted to the hub. The hub has a perimeter. The disk blade is deflectable by ground forces in an area outside of the hub. A scraper assembly includes a mount, a scraper blade, and a hinge pivotally interconnecting the scraper blade with the mount. The hinge has an axis of rotation which passes through a point generally at or near a bottom of the hub perimeter, and generally coincident with the disk blade.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2009Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: Michael E. Patent number: 8196672Abstract: A conservation tillage implement having three or more rows of individual coulter wheel assemblies laterally spaced apart and removably mounted on a cultivator frame, a coulter wheel assembly in a given row being staggered with respect to the coulter wheel assemblies in a longitudinally adjacent row. The coulter wheel assemblies may be laterally adjustable and may be mounted to the cultivator frame using a mounting means that permits rotation about a vertical axis. The coulter wheel assemblies may have a coil spring with a horizontal spring axis to permit upward deflection in response to impact with an obstacle. Leveling attachments may optionally be mounted to the cultivator frame, along with additional field working tools. The implement is used in the management of crop residue as part of a minimum tillage strategy. The implement is particularly resistant to plugging and can be operated at high speeds without undue damage upon impact with obstacles.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2010Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Salford Farm Machinery Ltd.Inventors: Jacobus A.
