Patent number: 8220177Abstract: An embossed screen having raised deflector elements on the internal surface is provided for a centrifugal pellet dryer. The deflector screen is formed as an integral structure, eliminating the need for separate deflector components secured by fastening elements along with the associated risks such as loosening or separation of the strip and contaminate build-up between the strip and the screen. The embossed deflector screen effectively deflects the pellets back toward the rotor where the pellets are reengaged with rotor energy, resulting in increased dryer efficiency and flow rate. The embossed deflector screen also enhances the overall structural strength of the screen, reduces manufacturing costs and prevents pellet entrapment that can lead to contamination in future runs.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2008Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Gala Industries, Inc.Inventor: David E. Patent number: 8220178Abstract: A liquid solid separator utilizing inductive heating. An electrically conductive scroll conveyor is contained within a non-magnetic and non-conductive housing under vacuum. A moveable alternating electric coil is disposed around the housing. The scroll pulls the solids through the housing. Operation of the coil heats the scroll which heats the solids. The vacuum lowers the boiling point of the liquids, and they are vaporized at a relatively low temperature. The vapors are condensed and collected. Because of the low temperatures, the separated liquids are less likely to deteriorate during separation, facilitating recycling. Thermocouples and a computer track the internal temperature of the separator and coordinate the position of the coil to maintain the desired temperature. The housing is provided with a heat insulating outer layer and the interior of the scroll is pressurized with nitrogen. The separator surfaces exposed to the atmosphere are maintained at or below 150° F.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2005Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Inventor: Herman J. Schellstede

Patent number: 8220193Abstract: Applicant has disclosed an improved trigger assembly for firearms, and a related method, to avoid premature firing after an unintentional trigger rotation, especially where light trigger pulls have previously been set. In the preferred embodiment, Applicant's trigger assembly has two triggers: a slotted primary trigger and a secondary trigger which can pivot into the slot. During an intentional trigger pull, the shooter's finger initially pushes against the secondary trigger until it pivots and nestles within the primary trigger's slot. Continued pulling on both the secondary and primary triggers causes a hammer to rotate off a sear, thereby allowing the firearm to discharge. In an unintentional trigger rotation, where the secondary trigger is not pulled back enough to nestle within the primary trigger's slot: an upper portion of the secondary trigger (unseen within the housing) constrains a protrusion on a spring-biased mainspring guide.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2010Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: O.F. Patent number: 8220194Abstract: The present invention provides for a sleeve that is mountable within a rifle stock. The sleeve includes a central aperture, one end of which is threaded and is adapted to receive a like-threaded male portion of an action. The action is of the type that includes a female threaded portion, this portion being configured to receive the threaded male portion of a rifle barrel. In this configuration, the sleeve is in direct contact with the stock, the action is in direct contact with the sleeve, and the barrel is in direct contact with the action. However, neither the barrel nor the action is in direct contact with the stock. As such, both the barrel and the action are ‘floated’ within the rifle assembly. In an alternative embodiment, the sleeve may be fabricated with the action such that the sleeve and action form a single integrated element.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2009Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Inventor: Larry P. Aspects of the present invention operate to decouple the required mass for the foundation from the structural components needed to resist compression and tension forces. Aspects of the present invention include a foundation structure made of structural components for resisting the expected forces transferred from the tower. This foundation structure may be filled with non-cementitious fill of any type to provide the required mass to stabilize the foundation and the tower. A non-cementitious tower foundation structure includes a central shaft; a storage tank; and structural members coupling the central shaft to the storage tank. The storage tank comprises one or more voids for containing non-cementitious fill as ballast to stabilize the central shaft. The total volume capacity of the voids may be at least a threshold volume.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2008Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Inventor: Tony Jolly

Patent number: 8220214Abstract: The present invention may be used for support of a structure attached to a foundation by a structure base flange. A weight distribution element may have a cross-section form that may be generally a trapezoid with an upper surface a lower surface, an outer side surface and an inner side surface. The outer side surface, and inner side surface may be inclined toward a centerline of the cross-section form transitioning from the bottom surface to the top surface. The weight distribution element may be formed of a material that may be moldable to a solid form having multiple bolt through-holes positioned for the weight distribution element to be disposed on bolts to be positioned adjacent a bolt support plate. The material may have a compression and strength composition sufficient to support a structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2009Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Inventor: Charles L. Purdy

Patent number: 8220217Abstract: A joint for connecting two adjacent flooring panels together in a substantially vertical manner includes a rotatable locking member made of plastic, metal or another resilient material. The rotatable locking member is located within a groove or opening of one flooring panel and the second flooring panel has a tongue shaped to mate with the rotatable locking member. Upon installation, the rotatable member rotates and locks around the back of the tongue via a groove above the tongue. The rotatable locking member includes a resilient arm which is bent away from its initial rest position upon installation, so that when the rotatable locking member locks onto the tongue, the resilient arm is bent providing a biasing force which holds the panel securely in position.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2009Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Innovaris AGInventor: Moritz Muehlebach

Patent number: 8220219Abstract: A reinforcing assembly to address this problem comprises a plurality of diagonal working members (preferably formed of #3 rebar) each of which is “ribbed” to provide increased surface area for bonding to the concrete, and each of which is attached to a horizontal runner independently such that the diagonal working members are variably spaced along the assembly. Relative to the horizontal runner, each diagonal member is “bent” at a given angle, preferably in the range of 45° plus or minus 25°. The reinforcing assembly is designed for use to provide punching shear reinforcement in a reinforced concrete structure such as, without limitation, a slab (in which the assembly is supported) located adjacent a structural column. The top of each diagonal member in the reinforcing assembly preferably comprises a double hook that is configured to fit within reinforcing bars that run along the top of the slab.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2010Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Inventor: Richard P. Patent number: 8220221Abstract: Connectors for joining adjacent modular floor covering units. Embodiments of the connectors include a film and an adhesive layer coated on one side of the film. The connectors can have a conductive component that allows electrical continuity to be maintained between adjacent tiles. In yet another embodiment, the connectors can be equipped as radio frequency identification tags by including radio frequency transponders. To install tiles using the connectors, a first tile is placed on the floor and a connector is positioned so that the adhesive layer faces upward and does not contact the floor. The connector is typically positioned so that only a portion of the adhesive layer adheres to the underside of the tile, leaving the remainder of the connector extending from the underside of the tile. One or more tiles are then positioned adjacent the first tile so that a portion of the connector adheres to the adjacent tiles. In this way, the connectors span adjacent tile edges.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2010Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Interface, Inc.Inventors: Keith N. Gray, Connie D.
