  • Patent number: 8240720
Abstract: A packing, interposed between respective ends of electric wire tubes serving as tubular members opposed to each other, includes a main body and an elastic member. The main body is inserted through inner-diameter-openings of the respective ends of the electric wire tubes, respectively. The elastic member is situated substantially at a center of the main body and the respective ends of the electric wire tubes are abutted against the elastic member. The electric wire tubes joined with each other through the packing are inserted into the body constituting the coupling. Then, grip portions of the body are forced into a grip case. The body is thereby decreased in diameter, and hence the electric wire tubes are fastened in a biting manner by the body.

  • Patent number: 8240721
Abstract: A cover latching mechanism is provided including a base member, a cover member, and a button assembly. The base member includes an elastic hook. The cover member is detachable assembled to the base member. The button assembly is fixed to the cover member and movable relative to the cover member to latch to or release from the elastic hook. The button assembly includes a button member having a positioning arm and a sleeve portion and further defining a elastic hooking hole. The elastic hook engages into the elastic hooking hole so that the elastic hook latches the button assembly with the base member. The positioning arm secures the button assembly to the cover member. The restoring member can be deformed when the button assembly pressed, so that the elastic hook releases out of the elastic hooking hole.

  • Patent number: 8240722
Abstract: The invention relates to a stop armature of an armature system of an aircraft door with a fuselage stop armature (10) and a door stop armature (12, 79), with a stop screw (30; 40; 60) in one of the two stop armatures (10, 12 or 79), which can be pressurized by the other stop armature (10) in the longitudinal direction of the screw (30; 40; 60; 80) on a locating face (34; 52; 70; 88). It is further developed by virtue of the fact that the screw (30; 40; 60; 80) encompasses a screw head (32; 42; 69) with a ball (36; 50; 68; 85) held therein that can rotate around its midpoint (M) as the fulcrum. The invention also relates to a stop screw for a stop armature and the use of a ball thrust screw as the stop screw.

  • Patent number: 8240724
Abstract: An over-center latch assembly has a base for attaching the over-center latch assembly to a first part of a unit. The first part of the unit is moveable to a second part of the unit. A handle is rotatably coupled to the base by a hinge. A pivot is coupled to the handle such that the pivot traverses about the hinge. The pivot is configured to receive a hasp. A stop surface is coupled to the base whereby rotation of the handle about the hinge is limited by the stop surface. A hinge bearing is coupled to the hinge. The hinge bearing enables an increased quantity of latch/unlatch cycles of the over-center latch assembly before failure of the over-center latch assembly.

  • Patent number: 8240725
Abstract: A bumper system for motor vehicles includes a cross member, and at least one crush box positioned between the cross member and the vehicle frame. Two coupling levers have opposite ends operably and pivotally connected with a crush box and cross member. The coupling levers are arranged in a mutually parallel relationship and oriented at an angle relative to vehicle travel, such that the cross member is supported by the crush box for displacement from a ready position toward the vehicle frame in both horizontal and vertical directions. An energy absorption element constructed from a foam material was positioned between a cross member and the crush box, and is clamped between the coupling levers to selectively resist inward movement of the cross member from the ready position upon impact to absorb impact energy.

  • Patent number: 8240735
Abstract: A tailgate damping and detent system is disclosed for a vehicle, including a tailgate lift assist system with a torque rod rotationally grounded between the tailgate at a first end and a first side of the vehicle's frame at a second end. “Damping” is achieved by increasing the diameter of the torque rod. The increased torque rod diameter overcompensates for the weight of the tailgate, so that this increased load decelerates the tailgate starting from the neutral balance point to the fully open position. The speed of the tailgate approaches zero at the end of the travel of the tailgate to the fully open position, which greatly reduces the “slam” at the end of travel. The tailgate is held in the open position by a link detent system. There is a slot in the gate side of the link that a spring loaded pin latches into.

  • Patent number: 8240740
Abstract: A canopy deployment and retraction mechanism particularly suited to cover the cargo compartment of an elongated vehicle such as a railroad car. Each of a series of tarpaulin-supporting, parallel bows has sliders at each end sliding in a pair of funnel-shaped channels having their flat bases vertically secured to the upper inside lateral wall sections of the compartment. The spacing between the bases of the channels is less than the total length of a bow and its sliders and provides a degree of play in order to accommodate slight variations in the width of said compartment, and allows for self-centering of the cover. The shape of the channels allows for the placement of the cover retraction mechanisms such as cables and sliders within the outer periphery of the container, reducing bulk. The downward slope of the channel lower side further improves the evacuation of debris under the wiping action of the traveling sliders.

Abstract: A motor vehicle seat is provided that includes, but is not limited to a backrest, which may be pivoted from an essentially upright usage position into an essentially horizontal non-usage position and which has at least one wing rest, which includes, but is not limited to a support part and a cushion part fastened on the support part. The support part is linked on a middle backrest part in such a way that the wing rest may be pivoted, in the non-usage position of the backrest, from a lower armrest non-usage position around the pivot axis extending in the seat direction into an upper armrest usage position to implement an armrest. In the armrest usage position, the cushion part is situated above the middle backrest part while implementing an intermediate space between the cushion part and the middle backrest part. The support part has a cover plate, which covers the intermediate space in one transverse direction. Furthermore, a seating configuration is provided having such a motor vehicle seat.

Abstract: A buoyant pool chair supports a swimmer in an upright, semi-reclining or sitting position while the chair is floating in a swimming pool. Interconnected rigid frame members collectively form an open chair frame for supporting buoyant cushions. The buoyant cushions include layers of flexible cushion material secured together in overlapping relation, with the frame members being sandwiched between the overlapping layers. A layer of adhesive material bonds the overlapping cushion layers together and forms a water-tight seal around the frame members. A flexible layer of a water-resistant coating material is bonded to external surface portions of the buoyant cushions to provide a further protective layer and water-tight seal.

Abstract: The coupling includes a main body with a fixed frame and a locking pawl. A carriage and impact member are connected in spring-biased fashion to the frame. The carriage controls locking of the pawl while the impact member continually urges the pawl in a counterclockwise direction. Pressing the release button causes the carriage to separate from the pawl permitting the impact member to rotate the pawl to permit entry and exit of a LATCH loop into locking communication with the tooth of the pawl. When the button is released, the carriage maintains the pawl open until a LATCH loop is impacted into the back of the pawl to disengage it from the carriage to lock the pawl closed. The invention includes a fail safe measure to maintain locking when any of the springs fail and the ability to accommodate loads much heavier than prior art couplings.
