Publication number: 20120223652Abstract: Improved circuits minimize, or eliminate, energy losses in LED lighting. Diodes and a capacitor reduce or eliminate blinking and create smooth and continuous infinitely variable dimming. The components supply power to each LED during the half of the AC cycle where it would normally be turned off. Added diodes allow an added capacitor to charge during the half cycle that the original diode is turned on, but does not allow the other half cycle to discharge the added capacitor. When the added capacitor is charged enough to turn on the original diode, it stays on throughout the AC cycle. Zener diodes protect the LEDs from voltage surge's/spikes by shunting current around LEDs when the voltage exceeds the Zener diode's breakdown voltage. A microprocessor controller with MOSFETs provides an ultra efficient embodiment with near zero power dissipation.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2012Publication date: September 6, 2012Inventors: Richard H. Publication number: 20120223678Abstract: When detecting a fault of a master control device, a slave control device refers to master-device-line information, and obtains line information to establish a connection with the other master control device. The slave control device transmits connection request information to the master control device extracted from the other master control devices. The other master control device determines whether or not it is connectable with the slave control device that has transmitted the connection request information, and transmits a determination result as connectability information. The slave control device switches a communication line to the other master control device when the received connectability information indicates the connectable status.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 29, 2012Publication date: September 6, 2012Applicant: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Kouichi YOKOURA, Motoo Futami, Kenji Takeda, Shin Yamauchi, Takeshi Uchida

Publication number: 20120223682Abstract: In one embodiment the present invention includes a system and method of charging a battery using a switching regulator. In one embodiment, a switching regulator receives an input voltage and input current. The output of the switching regulator is coupled to a battery to be charged. The switching regulator provides a current into the battery that is larger than the current into the switching regulator. As the voltage on the battery increases, the current provided by the switching regulator is reduced. The present invention may be implemented using either analog or digital techniques for reducing the current into the battery as the battery voltage increases.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2012Publication date: September 6, 2012Applicant: SUMMIT MICROELECTRONICS, INC.Inventors: M. Publication number: 20120223683Abstract: A drive circuit for a capacitive device that comprises a first operational state and a second operational state. The drive circuit comprises a capacitor and preferably two or more transistors. The capacitive device is caused to transition from a first operational state to a second operational state by a row pulse being asserted on a row line and a column pulse asserted on a column enable signal commensurate with the assertion of the row pulse. If the column pulse is deasserted before the row pulse is deasserted, the capacitive device is caused to transition from the first operational state to the second operational upon deassertion of the row pulse. In some embodiments, a precisely controlled variable voltage can be applied to the capacitive device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2010Publication date: September 6, 2012Applicant: Unipixel Displays, Inc.Inventor: Kevin J.
