Abstract: A method for adapting a mixture for a pilot control process for setting a fuel/air mixture for operating an internal combustion engine. The method includes determining a current measuring point from an air and fuel quantity in which a predefined lambda is achieved, determining a current operating range in which the measuring point lies, determining a deviation of the measuring point from the operating point lying in the current operating range, determining a corrected operating point between the operating point and the measuring point, and determining corrected parameters of a parameterized relationship from the corrected operating point and the operating points and parameter values of the preceding adaptation step not lying in the current operating range, and permits adaptation of a mixture without separation of load/rotational speed ranges for adaptation of the offset and of the factor of the linear relationship of air quantity and fuel quantity.

Abstract: An apparatus extracts a main waveform component and a branch waveform component from a pressure waveform detected by a fuel pressure sensor. The main waveform component is caused by pressure change traveling in a main passage. The branch waveform component is caused by pressure change traveling in a branch passage. The apparatus calculates traveling speeds based on the components. Then, the apparatus estimates a main passage temperature based on a detected value of the fuel temperature sensor, the traveling speeds, the fuel pressure waveform and an average pressure.

Abstract: An apparatus for detecting imbalance abnormality in an air-fuel ratio between cylinders in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine according to the present invention increases a fuel injection quantity to a predetermined target cylinder to detect imbalance abnormality in an air-fuel ratio between cylinders at least based upon a rotation variation of the target cylinder after increasing the fuel injection quantity. The increase in the fuel injection quantity is carried out in the middle of performing the post-fuel-cut rich control. Since timing of the post-fuel cut rich control is used to increase the fuel injection quantity, the exhaust emission deterioration due to abnormality detection execution can be prevented as much as possible.

Abstract: A siphon drainage type rainfall remote measurement device with self-compensation function is provided. The bottom existence of a rain collection barrel (2) is connected via a flexible tube (14) to the bottom of a rainfall measuring tube (13) to which a siphon (5) is attached. The tube (13) and a measurement instrument (6) are installed on a holding frame (9). The instrument (6) is connected to a pressure sensor (12) and an accumulator (11) at the bottom of the tube (13). The whole device is fixed in an outer barrel (1). According to the pressure of the bottom of the tube (13), the sensor (12) measures the height of the water level in the tube (13) which is directly proportional to the rainfall. The sensor (12) signal processed by the instrument (6) is transformed into the rainfall, processed by a compensation algorithm and sent by GSM or GPRS.

Abstract: A method for estimating at least one formation parameter from a directional resistivity measurement includes computing a plurality of hypothetical directional resistivity values at a corresponding plurality of formation parameter values. The computation makes use of a forward model having at least one analytical expression that relates a directional resistivity measurement to the formation parameter. The analytical expression includes at least one image source term. Comparison of computed directional resistivity values with measured direct resistivity values enables a value of at least one formation parameter to be selected. The method may be implemented on a downhole processor.

Abstract: Methods of and apparatus to perform a drawdown of a formation fluid in a downhole environment are disclosed. An example method includes contacting a borehole wall with a fluid communication device of a formation testing tool and performing a first type of drawdown to draw fluid into the fluid communication device. The method also includes detecting a breach of a mudcake on the borehole wall during performance of the first type of drawdown and performing a second type of drawdown to draw fluid into the sample probe in response to detecting the breach of the mudcake. The second type of drawdown is different than the first type of drawdown. Furthermore, the example method includes confirming the breach of the mudcake on the borehole wall during performance of the second type of drawdown.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for processing seismic data includes the determining, from the seismic data, a first amplitude attribute map at a first image depth corresponding to a shallow attenuating body, and a second amplitude attribute map at a second image or target depth. The first and second amplitude attribute maps are then normalized, and a ratio map is determined based on a ratio of the normalized first and second amplitude attribute maps. The ratio map is scaled to yield a scale factor map, which is then applied to the seismic data to compensate for effects of shallow overburden attenuation.
