Abstract: A variable displacement compressor adjusts the pressure in a control pressure chamber and controls the displacement in accordance with the adjusted pressure. Refrigerant is supplied via a supply passage, and released via a bleed passage. The compressor includes a first control valve for adjusting the cross-sectional area of the supply passage for refrigerant. The compressor further includes a second control valve that adjusts the cross-sectional area of the bleed passage in accordance with the opening/closing state of the first control valve. The second control valve adjusts the cross-sectional area of the bleed passage such that the cross-sectional area when the first control valve is in the closed state is larger than that when the first control valve is in the opened state. The back pressure chamber is located in a section of the bleed passage that is located between the second control valve and the control pressure chamber.

Abstract: The invention is directed to manufacture of fertilizer having commercial levels of nitrogen supplemented with organic substances. The process treats organic matter with acid causing hydrolysis of organic polymers after which the mix is injected with nitrogen. The resultant sterilized and liquefied organic matter is disbursed over recycled material for the production of granules. Because the process allows for the controlled addition of acids and ammonia, desired levels of components can be achieved. The process is scalable, odor controlled and safe thereby allowing for the location of biosolid processing facilities in most any location. Further, the fertilizer of the invention provides a dual nitrogen-release profile when applied to crops. After application to soil, fertilizer of the invention releases an immediate bolus of nitrogen, similar to traditional ammonium sulfate, followed by continued slow release of nitrogen typically over a season.

Abstract: A test auxiliary device for testing a portable data terminal having a plurality of sensors includes a base, a carrying unit, a driving unit, and a controlling unit. The carrying unit is disposed on the base and includes a carrying platform and a carrying base. The carrying platform and the carrying base form a first angle and a second angle with the base, respectively, and thereby together form a compound slope. The driving unit drives the carrying unit to move, allowing the carrying platform to move with acceleration and at an angular velocity. The controlling unit receives sensing values generated by the sensors, respectively. The test auxiliary device further includes a test matching unit for testing the sensors in operation. Accordingly, the test auxiliary device assists users in determining whether the sensors of the portable data terminal are functioning well.

Abstract: A method for determining mechanical power dissipation in a vibratory system, assuming the system is linear time-invariant and steady-state. The method includes the steps of identifying connection points between the vibratory system and components outside the vibratory system. The acceleration is measured at each connection point in a windowed time domain and the force at each connection point is also determined for the windowed time domain. The time domain values are converted into the frequency domain values by the fast Fourier transform, and the frequency domain acceleration values are converted to velocity values. The power dissipation of the vibratory system then equals the summation of one half of the power flow into the vibratory system. Here, each power flow is one half of the real part of the product of complex-conjugated velocity times force at the connection point in the frequency domain for each time window.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed that includes a frame, an impact delivery unit for delivering an impact force and at least one head form. The head form is adapted to be mounted to the frame such that the impact delivery unit can deliver an impact force to a designated location on the head form. The head form is configured to have a helmet installed thereon. The head form is selectively rotatable about each of a plurality of different axes of rotation, wherein movement of the head form is constrained to be able to move only in rotation and in rotation about only one axis of rotation of the plurality of axes at any time. A measuring system provides an indicator of the rotational acceleration of the head form when rotated about each of the plurality of axes. Also disclosed are methods for comparing the degree of protection afforded by first and second helmets.
