Publication number: 20130000851Abstract: Fiberglass batts are installed between the side-by-side studs in the interior walls of a home or building to insulate the walls and minimize sound transfer. Each fiberglass batt has a paper backing that projects from the side edges of the batt to provide for attachment to the spaced, side-by-side wall studs that comprise the internal frame to which the walls are secured. However, a significant percentage of the backing is produced with a noncompliant, reduced width and thus those batts are discarded. In the present invention a stripper mechanism between an input conveyor that receives the inferior batts and an output conveyor strips the backing therefrom so that the fiberglass may be used in other applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2012Publication date: January 3, 2013Applicant: AUTOMATIC SYSTEMS, INC.Inventor: Michael Gerard Wohletz

Publication number: 20130000892Abstract: An assembly for monitoring load on a drum during an operation in a well with a well access line deployed from the drum. The assembly may include multiple line detection mechanisms for acquiring real-time information relative to dynamic characteristics of the lone over the course of the operation. The assembly also includes a processor for computing the real-time information in light of pre-stored information relative to physical characteristics of the line and the drum. As a result, real-time monitoring of a load on the drum may be achieved. Thus, the operation may be adjusted in real-time as necessary to avoid over- loading of the drum. Additionally, a drum load history may be recorded so as to better account for the true condition of the drum following successive operations.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 17, 2010Publication date: January 3, 2013Inventors: Sebastien Ives, Peter Fitzgerald

Publication number: 20130000893Abstract: A method for managing a fracturing operation. In one implementation, the method may include positioning a seismic source and at least one seismic receiver near a hydrocarbon reservoir; pumping a fracturing fluid into a well bore of the hydrocarbon reservoir such that the fracturing fluid may include an additive that enhances acoustic impedance between the fracturing fluid and subsurface formations in which the hydrocarbon reservoir is located and that produces a foam; performing a seismic survey with the seismic source and the at least one seismic receiver during the fracturing operation; and identifying locations of the fracturing fluid within subsurface formations in which the hydrocarbon reservoir is located.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2012Publication date: January 3, 2013Applicant: WESTERNGECO L.L.C.Inventors: CRAIG J. Publication number: 20130000894Abstract: A process for the recovery of hydrocarbon such as bitumen/EHO from a hydrocarbon bearing formation in which are situated an upper injection well and a lower production well, the method comprising the steps: preheating an area around and between the wells by circulating hot solvent through the completed interval of each of the wells until sufficient hydraulic communication between both wells is achieved; injecting one of more hydrocarbon solvents into the upper injection well at or above critical temperature of the solvent or solvent mixture, thereby causing a mixture of hydrocarbon and solvent to flow by gravity drainage to the lower production well; and producing the hydrocarbon to the surface through the lower production well.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2011Publication date: January 3, 2013Applicant: Statoil ASAInventors: Jostein Alvestad, Aurelie Lagisquet, Eimund Gilje

Publication number: 20130000895Abstract: Systems, methods, and instructions encoded in a computer-readable medium can perform operations related to simulating injection treatments applied to a subterranean formation from multiple well bores in the subterranean formation. A subterranean formation model representing rock blocks of a subterranean formation is received. Information on multiple injection treatments for multiple well bores in the subterranean formation is received. The subterranean formation model and the information on the injection treatments is used to predict a response of each of the rock blocks to forces acting on the rock block during the injection treatments. The injection treatments may include, for example, multiple fracture treatments for simultaneous application to the subterranean formation. In some implementations, injection treatments may be designed for a multiple-well bore system based on the predicted response of the rock blocks.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2012Publication date: January 3, 2013Applicant: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Harold G. Publication number: 20130000896Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for producing hydrocarbons from reservoirs. A provided method includes drilling a first horizontal well substantially proximate to a base of a reservoir and drilling a second horizontal well at a horizontal offset from the first horizontal well. Fluid communication is established between the first horizontal well and the second horizontal well through cyclic production processes. A mobilizing fluid is injected through the second horizontal well and fluids are produced from the first horizontal well.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2012Publication date: January 3, 2013Inventor: Thomas J. Publication number: 20130000897Abstract: A method relates to improving production rate and recovery of heavy oil or bitumen and reducing heat loss to over and under burden in a steam-assisted production process. The method includes strategically injecting recycled carbon dioxide into the reservoir between production wells. The heat insulation and solvent effects provided by carbon dioxide dissolved in the oil phase facilitate the desired improvement on oil recovery, and simultaneously sequester the CO2 back into the reservoir.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2012Publication date: January 3, 2013Applicant: CONOCOPHILLIPS COMPANYInventors: Windsong Fang, Thomas J. Publication number: 20130000898Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for producing hydrocarbons from reservoirs. A provided method includes drilling a first horizontal well substantially proximate to a base of a reservoir and drilling a second horizontal well at a horizontal offset from the first horizontal well. Fluid communication is established between the first horizontal well and the second horizontal well through cyclic production processes. A vertical mobilizing agent is injected into the reservoir and a lateral mobilizing agent is imposed on the reservoir. Fluids are produced from the first horizontal well.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2012Publication date: January 3, 2013Inventor: Thomas J. Boone

Publication number: 20130000899Abstract: A gravel packing assembly gravel packs a horizontal borehole. Operators wash down the borehole using an inner string in a first position by flowing fluid from the inner string through the apparatus' toe. Operators then gravel pack by moving the inner string to one or more flow ports between a screen and the toe. Slurry flows into the borehole from the flow ports, and returns from the borehole flow through the screen. The gravel in the slurry can pack the borehole in an alpha-beta wave from toe to heel. In another condition, operators can move the inner string to a second flow port so slurry can flow into the borehole through a shunt extending from the second flow port. When gravel packing is done, operators move the inner string to a port collar in a liner of the assembly to cement the liner in the borehole.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 6, 2012Publication date: January 3, 2013Applicant: WEATHERFORD/LAMB, INC.Inventors: John P. Publication number: 20130000900Abstract: Methods and fluids are provided for the placement of a water-swellable polymer into a subterranean formation. The methods and fluids include a placement fluid that has an acidic aqueous phase. The water-swellable polymer does not substantially swell in the acidic aqueous phase. The acid is allowed or caused to be spent downhole, whereby the water-swellable polymer can then swell in the formation. In an embodiment, an oil-external emulsion having an internal acidic water phase is provided for placement of a water-swellable polymer into a subterranean formation. Preferably, the oil-external emulsion is adapted to break as the acid contained in the internal water phase is allowed or caused to be spent downhole.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2011Publication date: January 3, 2013Inventors: Rajendra A.
