  • Patent number: 8375519
Abstract: A Signal Activated Door Hinge is typically a three-hinge door's central hinge. The lower part of the hinge plates attaches to an upper sprocket pinned to a lower sprocket which supports a central drop shaft extending to the bottom of the cover tube. An annular drop weight slides on the drop shaft, latching to a pivoted release lever near the drop shaft top. A bi-metallic muscle wire controls the pivoted release lever. As electric signal reaches the muscle wire, the release lever rotates away from the drop weight which unlatches and slides down the drop shaft under gravity, impacting the bottom of the drop shaft and pulling it down to open the sprocket connections. A coiled spiral activation spring inside the upper sprocket unwinds, rotating a hinge plate. To reset, the signal is canceled and the drop weight raised to the latched position in the release lever.

  • Patent number: 8375524
Abstract: A security device includes a housing containing a ratchet mechanism and a rotatable spool for storing a plurality of cable loops which extend outwardly from a plurality of openings formed in the housing and wrapped around the sides of a box-like object. A collar is mounted on the bottom of the housing and has openings adjacent each of the housing opening requiring the cable loops to abruptly change direction after exiting the housing and passing either beneath or above the collar before extending along the secured object. This abrupt change of direction reduces the amount of force which are exerted on the cable loops from being transmitted onto the ratchet mechanism. In alternate embodiments, adjacent cable loops pass through one or a pair of rings which cause a change of direction in the cable loops to reduce the transmission of forces onto the ratchet mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8375538
Abstract: There is provided a method for manufacturing a piezoelectric actuator where the planar shape is adjusted by subjecting the piezoelectric body layer located on one of the outer surfaces in the two or more piezoelectric body layers to a polarization treatment to control remnant polarization of the piezoelectric body layer. The piezoelectric actuator is used as a drive portion of a piezoelectric drive type variable capacitor. The variable capacitor has high mechanical strength and excellent reliability for a long period of time. The relation between the displacement amount of the piezoelectric actuator and the capacity of the capacitor is stable, and the variable capacity is wide.

  • Patent number: 8375541
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention is a drill motor assembly (100) including a drill motor (102) and a housing guide assembly (104). The housing guide assembly in turn includes a base (106) and a mast (108) pivotally and adjustably attached thereto. A male slide (110) on the mast (108) slidably and precisely engages a female slide (112) on the drill motor (102). To drill a precise hole using the drill motor assembly (100), the operator simply adjusts the mast (108) to the desired angle relative to the base (106), engages the slides (110) and (112), activates the drill motor (102), and moves the drill motor (102) along the mast (108) until the drilling operation is completed.

Abstract: When manufacturing slender metallic components (9) by cutting shaping from pre-manufactured forgings (1), the respective component (9) upon finish machining by cutting is dimensionally inspected to determine deformations (a) induced by manufacture, as compared to the nominal position, and on the basis of the measuring result the position of tensile stress areas (4) in rim layers of the component (9) is determined. For positionally balancing the component (9), the tensile stress areas (4) causing deformation of the component (9) are subjected to controlled shot peening at a specified intensity.
