Abstract: A nickel based alloy coating and a method for applying the nickel based alloy as a coating to a substrate. The nickel based alloy comprises about 0.1-15% rhenium, about 5-55% of an element selected from the group consisting of cobalt, iron and combinations thereof, sulfur included as a microalloying addition in amounts from about 100 parts per million (ppm) to about 300 ppm, the balance nickel and incidental impurities. The nickel-based alloy of the present invention is applied to a substrate, usually an electro-mechanical device such as a MEMS, by well-known plating techniques. However, the plating bath must include sufficient sulfur to result in deposition of 100-300 ppm sulfur as a microalloyed element. The coated substrate is heat treated to develop a two phase microstructure in the coating.

Abstract: Improvements in an inner tube are presented. The inner tube is split at a location opposite of the valve stem. Locating the split at a location that is opposite of the valve allows the inner tube to be more balanced to prevent an out of balance inner tube that can result in making the bicycle unstable and less safe. A stiffener or snake may be incorporated to allow the inner tube to be pushed or pulled around the rim thereby making it easier to install the inner tube when access to the entire periphery of the rim. The free ends of the inner tube can have a connection mechanism that retains the ends in a secure or semi-secure arrangement. The Ideal mechanism may further provide a method of attracting and retaining the ends together to ensure that the inner tube creates and essentially complete circle.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing complex hollow composite parts with at least one internal structure formed in situ by laying laminated layers around a removable mandrel assembled inside the part's inner cavity. The inner mandrel is made up of two jig plate assemblies aligned in a parallel manner and space apart where the internal structure is to manufactured. Each jig plate assembly is made up of at least three jig plates stacked in an edge-to-edge manner Located on opposite sides of each jig plate assembly is an elastic envelope filled with spherical objects. When evacuated, the envelope collapses and relaxes and composite material may then laid up inside the inner cavity and around the envelopes. When exposed to a heat, the envelopes expand and in situ and form internal structures inside surface of the cavity. Each envelope and each jig plate assemblies can be easily dissembled and reused.

Abstract: A method for producing multiple devices for securing identification means to a mounting surface includes a mounting device having a upper surface of translucent plastic film having certain regions glued to a substrate of label stock beneath the film. A gap with opening between the label stock and the film forms a pocket into which an identification means may be inserted or removed. The label stock possesses a face having an adhesive coating which is exposed by a peel-away backing. An image area printed on the label stock prior to application of the plastic film overlay is visible through the pocket and up to the outer edges of each mounting device. The device is economically created in multiples using adhesive label stock in either roll or sheet form.

Abstract: A core of a rotating electrical machine is formed by laminating core plates, which are each formed by a plurality of core pieces. According to the method for manufacturing the core, a belt-like workpiece is first conveyed intermittently in its longitudinal direction. Then, while the workpiece is in a stopped state, side edges of a core piece are punched out. At a downstream position in the conveying direction of the workpiece, the remaining edges of the core piece are cut, so that the core piece is punched out. The punched out core pieces are lined up on a support. The core plate is thus formed, and the core pieces are laminated.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for adhering optoelectronic components in optical, electronic or optoelectronic devices are disclosed. A UV-active adhesive is applied to an alignment sensitive component of the device. A first, relatively low dose of UV radiation sufficient to solidify an outer layer of the adhesive is applied to the adhesive. A second, relatively high dose of UV radiation sufficient to solidify the remaining thickness of the adhesive is then applied. The methods and apparatuses of the present invention advantageously reduce or eliminate changes in the position of a component during the adhesive curing process. The present method and apparatus allow for shorter total time for solidifying the adhesive, provide stable positioning during the adhesive solidification process, and enable increased manufacturing output and decreased waste.
