  • Patent number: RE44147
Abstract: An electrically conductive heat-blocking plate 11 with an opening 12 for allowing thermions to pass through is provided between a filament 3, whose temperature can be as high as 2000° to 3000° C., and an ionization chamber 2. The heat-blocking plate 11 is thermally connected via an aluminum block 10 to a heater for maintaining the ionization chamber 2 within a range temperature from 200° to 300° C., and also electrically set at a ground potential, which is approximately equal to the potential of the ionization chamber 2. The heat-blocking plate 11 blocks the radiation heat that the filament 3 emits when energized. Thus, the wall of the ionization chamber 2 is prevented from being locally heated to an abnormally high temperature. As a result, the inner space of the ionization chamber 2 is maintained at an approximately uniform temperature, and the noise due to the decomposition of a metallic material by abnormal heating is prevented.

  • Patent number: 8418284
Abstract: A base for bed mattress having a plurality of transverse slats, with each slat end attached to the frame of the base and pivotally connected to first end of a rod at the center of each slat is provided. The rod is attached at its second end to a dynamic pulley. The dynamic pulleys are connected by a common cord or flexible attachment running over stationary pulleys mounted between the slats to a central beam attached to the frame of the base. Improved distribution of human body support can thus be achieved independent of the contour and weight of the body at any sleeping position. Springiness of the base can be modified by changing the elasticity of the flexible attachment. The dynamic support base reduces the need for thickness of the mattress and of the bed pillow.

Abstract: A radiation treatment system (100) for accurately delivering radiation to a targeted site within a cancer patient (108) that includes a modular patient support system and a patient positioner (114). The modular patient support system includes a modularly expandable patient pod (200) and at least one immobilization device, such as, for example, a rigid moldable foam cradle (350). The patient pod (200) includes a generally hemi-cylindrical support shell (212) that extends longitudinally between proximal edge (214) and distal edge (216), and transversely between two lateral edges (222, 224). In one embodiment, the lateral edges (222, 224) are tapered to minimize edge effects that result when radiation beams traverse the lateral edges (222, 224).

  • Patent number: 8418289
Abstract: The present invention is to provide an automated anti-snoring bed system, which includes a bed designed to support a user lying thereon and internally provided with a driving device, a sensing device able to send out a detection signal toward the user's chest at regular intervals of time and receive a reflected signal returning from the user in response to the detection signal, and a control device. When the sensing device determines that the user is snoring according to the reflected signal, the sensing device sends out a control command to the control device and the control device then drives the driving device to change the configuration of the bed to a mode for stopping the user from snoring. Thus, the user is prevented not only from sleep disorders, but also from sleep apnea which may otherwise jeopardize the user's sleeping quality and health.

Abstract: A motorized bed includes a bed body and a driving device. The bed body includes a base frame, a fixed frame, and a movable frame. The driving device includes a drive unit mounted on the fixed frame, a guide tube mounted on the drive unit, a threaded rod mounted in the guide tube, an extension tube mounted in the guide tube and having a first end provided with a push portion and a second end connected with the movable frame, and a threaded mover moved by the threaded rod and movable to abut the push portion. Thus, when a human body is disposed between the movable frame and the base frame, the human body only needs to overcome the weight of the movable frame to detach the extension tube from the mover, so that the movable frame stops moving immediately.
