Abstract: The disclosure herein provides compact portable head supporting devices that secure a user's head in a position sufficient to enhance the user's comfort in a seated position. The head supporting device comprises a first member configured to be at least partially sandwiched between a user and a seat and a support apparatus coupled to the first member and configured to secure a head of the user relative to the first member.

Abstract: The present invention is a sleeve or wrap made of silicone rubber. The device is placed or wrapped around the user's arm such as the forearm for burn protection during cooking.

Abstract: A wearable garment (30) comprises a front portion (11), a rear portion (20) attached to sections of the front portion, and an aperture (12) formed in the front portion (11). A pouch formed between the two portions (11 and 20) is adapted to contain a receptacle of tissues (13) to be dispensed one at a time through the aperture (12). The garment further comprises a cover (24) positioned over the aperture (12) to protect the tissues from drying when not in use.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for stabilizing user's body parts. The apparatus is capable of being attached to a wearable article to be worn by the user. The apparatus includes an electrical arrangement and a protective covering arrangement. The electrical arrangement is capable of detecting one or more variables acting on the user's body parts, and responding in a manner to stabilize the user's body parts. Further, the protective covering arrangement is arranged to encapsulate the electrical arrangement therein. Furthermore, a method for making the apparatus and wearable articles made there from are also disclosed.

Abstract: A finger cover for use with capacitive touchscreens devices is described. The finger cover includes a flexible rear panel having opposing sides between ends of the flexible rear panel, defining a length of the flexible rear panel, at least equal to the distance measured between the tip and the first joint of the user's finger. The rear panel has a width generally equal to one half the circumference of the user's finger. An elastic band connects opposing sides of the rear panel at a location near the first joint of the user's finger. An electrically conductive panel joins the opposing sides of the rear panel, joins the rear panel along the first end and joins the elastic band.

The garment may include garment portion for enclosing a portion of a wearer's body, and a panel, coupled to the garment portion, defining at least two compartments between the garment portion and the panel, wherein the at least two compartments are adapted to be expanded and collapsed independently of each other, and wherein the at least two compartments are disposed proximate a wearer's back when the garment is worn.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of orthopedics, in particular, to an orthopedic support garment. The orthopedic garment includes a garment body made of stretchable fabric and configured to be worn in a form-fitting manner on the upper body of a wearer. The garment body has a front body portion, a rear body portion joined to the front body portion, and right and left sleeve portions attached to the front and rear body portions. Also provided is at least one tensor band laid out along one of the front and rear body portions in a manner intended to substantially correspond to at least one of the fascial lines extending along the upper body of the wearer. When the garment is worn by the wearer, the at least one tensor band may be placed in tension so as to provide proprioceptive feedback to the wearer during movement.

Abstract: A device to help minimize medical recovery time and to help prevent medical errors in the form of a garment that is more comfortable for a patient to wear and that provides information, such as medical information, that saves the care giver time and that can help prevent medical errors. Such information can include allergies, medical conditions, blood type, identification of scheduled procedures, name, emergency contact numbers and other medical information. Privacy flaps can be provided to cover such information when it is not being used by the caregiver. The garment securely fastens in both the front and back to prevent accidental exposure, including accidental exposure through gaping material between fasteners. Additionally, pockets are provided at approximately hip level to allow the wearer to comfortably place their hands in their pockets if they want their hands to be warmer.

Abstract: A sanitary hand cover includes a fluid impermeable material defining two portions, the first portion for fitment over a portion of a user's hand, the second portion for inversion within the user's hand and first portion to form a pocket. The pocket is lined with an absorbent material to receive and retain liquid deposited in the pocket formed in the sanitary hand covering. The absorbent materials extends from within the pocket at least partially over a transition area between the first and second portions adjacent the finger tips when the hand covering is fitted on a user's hand. The transition area defines a constricted pocket opening bearing the absorbent material as a gasket and wiping mechanism. The hand covering can be inverted following use, e.g., for gland expression during animal grooming, to provide a sanitary package for disposal.

An armhole-side end of which can be attached to a flange of a maintenance opening in a gas-tight manner and the hand end of which is freely movable, wherein a hand-grip is located in the hand end. The hand end is telescopically extendable. A camera and a light source are located at the hand end. Furthermore tools and/or sensors are also located at the hand end.

Abstract: A barrier protection device and dispensing system are provided in the form of a medical service or examination glove with sensory indicators that respond to contact with infectious agents or substances. The glove and dispensing system prevent transmission of infectious agents from a healthcare worker to a patient or vice versa.

Abstract: The seamless knit glove has electrically conductive finger regions, either defined by pads or thread. The glove is worn by a user to enable operation of a capacitive touch screen on an electronic device. The seamless knit glove finger sleeves, anterior palm side and posterior “back side” are knit as a unitary structure which has a high degree of stretch. The glove needs no finger-linking operation to attach the sleeves to the anterior and posterior glove regions. In one, electrically conductive yarn is deployed over at least an anterior tip region of the thumb and the index finger sleeve to enable the user to activate a capacitive touch screen of an electronic device. The user's electrical skin condition is transferred via the conductive threads to the capacitive touch screen. In another, a multiplicity of printed-on conductive ink pads is disposed over the anterior surfaces of the thumb and index sleeves.

Abstract: Elastomeric articles, such as gloves, are made by welding together two plies of a multi-layer film. The film plies are welded together through ultrasonic bonding, thermal bonding, or mixtures thereof. The multi-layer film includes at least three layers that, in one embodiment, are coextruded. Each layer of the multi-layer film is made from a different composition that produces layers having different properties.

Abstract: Elastomeric articles, such as gloves, are described that are made by welding two polymer films together. Polymer films are selected that have excellent elastic properties in combination with tensile strength properties. For instance, the polymer films can be made from a thermoplastic elastomer that has a tensile strength of greater than 40 MPa and has a modulus of from about 2 MPA to about 20 MPa.

Abstract: Headbands configured to provide pressure against a medical sensor secured to a patient's forehead are provided. The headbands may include one or more low friction materials to enable an elastic band of a tensioning mechanism to evenly stretch. Additionally or alternatively, the headbands may include two or more bands adapted to secure the headband to various portions of a patient's head. Still further, the headbands may be configured to independently vary the pressure created between two or more sensors and the patient's head.

The attachment unit also includes a top plate, including a female connection element extending from a surface of the top plate, wherein the female connection element is configured to mate with the male connection element of the base plate. A tether having a first end may be connected to the base plate, and a second end of the tether may be connected to the top plate. An anchoring element may be configured to enable attachment of the base plate to a surface.

Abstract: A garment weight allows women to keep the bottoms of their skirts and dresses against their bodies, regardless of wind currents. The first part of the garment weight may be pinned on the inside hem of a skirt or dress, and the weighted second part may snap into the first part. An individual may use as many pins as she feels necessary for the fabric and the conditions. The pins are removable so they may be utilized on any skirt or dress in a user's wardrobe. Abstract: A belt includes a buckle and a band. The band has a surface to which a plurality of decorative members is mounted. The decorative members are arranged in a spaced manner or simply in the form of strips and are made of a magnetic material. A magnet is mounted to an end portion of the band. As such, when the end portion of the band is set beyond the buckle, the magnetism induced by the magnetic body is attracted and thus securely kept in position by the decorative members mounted on the surface of the band, so that the end portion of the band is in a compliantly and flat laid condition without causing curving or slackness. Thus, the overall image of the wearer of the belt is improved and interference caused by outward curving of the end portion of the band is eliminated.

The partitioning panel has an opening defined therethrough. The undergarment may include a boxer style pants portion with the panel being inside the pants portion.

Abstract: An undergarment with an aperture in the pelvic region and a covering flap for the aperture suitable for use in medical examination of the pelvic region. Prior to an examination the flap covers the aperture. The flap may then be easily removed by the physician thereby providing access to the body. In some versions of the device the flap can then re-cover the aperture and in others the flap is removed entirely at the beginning of the examination. The device provides a degree of modesty before and after, for example, a gynecological examination. Other important features include a hypoallergenic flap, easy entry side leg openings and abdomen hugging bands that slim the wearer.

Abstract: A head and neck support (HANS) device comprises a collar, a left leg unit, a right leg unit, and a leg unit rotation control assembly. The collar may be positioned behind a wearer's neck. The left leg unit may be coupled to a left side of the collar to engage the wearer's left shoulder and chest area. The right leg unit may be coupled to a right side of the collar to engage the wearer's right shoulder and chest area. The leg unit rotation control assembly may include male splines and female splines to allow the leg units to rotate with respect to the collar when the female splines are separated from the male splines and to rigidly fix the position of the leg units with respect to the collar when the female splines are interlocked with the male splines.

Abstract: A protective headwear comprising a first shell half and a second shell half coupled to each other by first and second elastic strips. The combination of first and second shell halves forms a protective cage for protecting a person's head. A plurality of pads is coupled to an inner surface of the protective cage. The pads are positioned to contact strong areas on the person's head when the protective cage is worn and to provide spacing between the cage and the person's head. A baseball cap may be coupled to an outer surface of the cage to form a lightweight, unobtrusive, and protective headwear.

Abstract: Digital device screen apparatus for use with a motorcycle helmet or like. In one example, apparatus includes a screen and means of connection. The device is attachable or attached to a rearward facing portion of a helmet (5) to display a picture, image or video source. In one example, a front mount camera is connected to a viewing screen mounted on the back of a helmet. In one example, the screen mount is configurable to house a variety of screens and sizes and types. In another example, a video display apparatus interfaces to the motorcycle with either a conventional breakaway cable, wirelessly via Blue Tooth, R.F. Radio Frequency or other means of wireless transmission. The apparatus can be integrated or added as an aftermarket accessory to a helmet.

Abstract: A skydiving helmet includes a lens for protecting the face of a skydiver during a skydiving event. An air-intake hole is formed on the helmet, and an airflow deflector plate is positioned against the air-intake hole. Thus, the deflector plate directs air over the inside surface of the lens to prevent fog from forming on this surface during a skydiving event.

Abstract: Goggles include a body having a lens. A front face of the lens includes two side view sections corresponding to two eyes of a wearer and a central section corresponding to a nose of the wearer. At least one protrusion is formed on the central section and protrudes from the front face of the lens. A transparent film has a width larger than a width of the lens in a width direction. The transparent film is mounted to the front face of the lens and extends over the side view sections and the central section of the lens, with a distal end of the at least one protrusion abutting the transparent film. An actuating device is mounted to the body and coupled to the transparent film. The actuating device is operable to move the transparent film relative to the lens in the width direction.

A knitted cloth includes a first side having a plurality of loops and a second side bonded to an outer face of the first knitted cloth. A hook tape includes a plurality of hooks on a face thereof. The hook tape is fixed to the first side of the knitted cloth or an outer surface of the second knitted cloth according to the type of the protective pad to be made. When the hook tape is fixed to the knitted cloth, the face of the hook tape having the hooks faces the first side of the knitted cloth having loops. Only a portion of the hook tape overlaps and is fixed to an end of the knitted cloth.

Abstract: Shoulder pads for a player playing a contact sport, such as hockey, lacrosse or football, are provided. The shoulder pads comprise a front member, a back member, left and right shoulder arches, left and right shoulder protectors, and an adjustment system allowing the player to adjust a fit of the shoulder pads. The adjustment system may allow the player to adjust various components of the shoulder pads, including the front member, the back member, and the left and right shoulder protectors, in various directions.

The method includes receiving a maximum time that an auxiliary load is to operate, receiving a minimum pump speed of a pump system that pumps a liquid through the auxiliary load, monitoring the time that an auxiliary load has been in operation, monitoring the pump speed of a pump system that pumps a liquid through the auxiliary load, and deactivating the auxiliary load if the maximum time or minimum pump speed has been met. Also disclosed are a pool system and a controller for controlling the pool system.

Abstract: A mattress and a capacitive immersion system for adjusting the support that the mattress provides to a user are disclosed. In one embodiment, a mattress includes one or more air cells and a capacitive immersion system. The system relates generated capacitance between conductors mounted to an air cell to a pressure inside the air cells on which the conductors are mounted. More specifically, the measured capacitance may be related to a distance between the conductors. This distance may then be related to pressure with the air cells. The air cell may be inflated or deflated as required or desired to maintain a suitable minimum distance or distance that a user finds to be subjectively comfortable.

Abstract: An ecological fabric having protection from ultraviolet radiation incorporated therein is disclosed in which the fabric is treated by a method comprising the steps of dissolving zinc acetate or other zinc salt in a liquid to form a solution containing Zn(II) ions, adding a fabric to the solution, mixing the solution and the fabric, and adding a base to the solution when the solution and the fabric are being mixed to form a suspension of zinc oxide nanoparticles in contact with the fabric. Other methods are disclosed such as modifying a fabric by carboxylation or phosphorylation of the fabric followed by binding of the UV-blocking nanoparticles to the modified fabric and modifying UV-blocking nanoparticles with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) or polymer layer containing an active chemical group capable of binding to the fabric and depositing the UV-blocking nanoparticles on the fabric.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a composite girder for bridge construction. More preferably, a girder is formed in a rectangular shape that is horizontally long and opened at the top portion thereof, wherein the girder is convexly curved in the center so as to be formed in the shape of an arch. The girder has a compression section, a web and a tension section, which are integrally composed together; and is filled with concrete inside the girder so as to increase the sectional strength of the girder. Therefore, it is possible to reinforce a support that receives a great shearing stress even without the use of any rebar. Simultaneously, a stopper is formed on the inside surface of the compression section to prevent the separation of the steel materials and the concrete. Therefore, compared with the existing girders, the composite girder of the present invention may be mounted over a noticeably long span.
