Abstract: A wiper strip carrier for a windshield wiper that having a horizontal body, claw-like legs, each of which has a vertical portion extending down from the horizontal body and a horizontal portion extending inwardly from the vertical portion such that the claw-like legs form therebetween a first cavity for a top portion of a wiper strip, and second cavity for a single metal vertebra. The invention also is directed to wiper blades incorporating such carriers.

Abstract: A scoop and gatherer set for picking up small items and debris, such as for use by a child to scoop-up small toys. The scoop comprises a trapezoidal bottom, two triangular side walls, and a rectangular back wall. The back wall also comprises a rectangular hole of sufficient size to insert a user's palm to grasp and lift the scoop without extensive rotation of a user's wrist. The gatherer is of a slightly concave trapezoidal shape comprising a ledge on the top edge inner surface to assist in grasping it. The gatherer bottom edge may further comprise short bristles for brushing items into the scoop, or a smooth fabric to prevent scratching of the floor surface. The set may further comprise a means to quickly attach and detach the gatherer to the scoop for storage as one unit.

Abstract: An embodiment of the cleaning and floor care system has a reservoir assembly and a wet/dry vacuum assembly. The reservoir assembly has a wheeled chassis and an integral reservoir. The reservoir has a circumferential sidewall and an upper end. The reservoir defines an interior space for holding a fresh cleaning liquid; and the reservoir upper end defines an opening. The reservoir assembly further has a spigot fluidly connected to the reservoir interior space, with the spigot having a valve adjustable between a fully open and a fully closed position. The vacuum assembly has a recovery tank and a motor assembly. The vacuum assembly is removably positionable on top of the reservoir, and is transportable on the reservoir. Each of the reservoir assembly and the vacuum assembly is operable both when the vacuum assembly is positioned on top of the reservoir, and when the vacuum assembly is separated from the reservoir.

Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus, and in particular a steam mop, comprises a steam delivery system for generating and distributing steam onto a surface to be cleaned. The steam mop further comprises a handle assembly mounted to a foot assembly that has a manifold configured to supply steam from a steam generator to the surface to be cleaned.

Abstract: The invention relates to a vacuum cleaning appliance having a moveable stand. A suction device mounted on the stand has a device upper part mounted on the stand and a dirt collection container situated beneath the device upper part. The stand has a lifting device and an actuating element pivotable about a horizontal axis for raising and lowering the dirt collection container, which in its raised position abuts against the device upper part in a flow-tight manner, and in its lowered position rests on a floor surface. The actuating element is configured as a push bar having a handle part which, in the raised position of the dirt collection container, may be gripped by the user in a standing posture in order to move the vacuum cleaning appliance, and is upwardly pivotable about the pivot axis by at most 135° in order to lower the dirt collection container.

Abstract: The Vacuum Cleaner is designed with a unique shape which allows it to be placed in a stable position on a flight of stairs and which overcomes the problem of instability when positioned on stairs but also remains suitable for use on a flat surface such as a floor. This shape also enables easy upward movement on stairs and overcomes the problem of manoeuvrability. The Vacuum Cleaner has one or more rotating ground engaging members which can be locked to allow rotation in a forward direction only, which overcomes the problem that previous Vacuum Cleaners have of being insecure when positioned on stairs and it may have one or more rotating members which can engage with a stair riser to allow traversing in an upward direction with very little hindrance.

The fan case has a fan-facing portion, a fan case shoulder bent at the outermost part of the fan-facing portion, and a cylindrical portion extending cylindrically in an axial direction from the fan case shoulder. The fan case shoulder is so bent that it forms substantially a right angle.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods provide for a bushing that compensates for thermal expansion and contraction to maintain a preload on a corresponding structure at various operating temperatures. According to embodiments described herein, a bushing may include two bushing components coupled to a load compensation sleeve between the two bushing components. The load compensation sleeve may have a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) greater than the two bushing components and the corresponding abutting structure. The configuration of the bushing components and load compensation sleeve, along with the corresponding CTE characteristics, maintains the preload imposed by the two bushing components on the structure throughout operations at various temperatures.

Abstract: A fastening assembly for securing a floor mat to a carpet in a vehicle includes a first fastener that is attached to the carpet, a knob that is attached to the first fastener, and a second fastener that is attached to a floor mat. A knob base is integrally provided in a first carpet grommet of the first fastener. The knob comprises a knob shank that is coupled to be able to turn about its axis inside the knob base between an unlocked position and a locked position. The knob base includes projections which fit into and mate with channels in knob coupling latching pawls of the knob base; thus, the knob holding force is enhanced, and a clicking sensation confirms completion of the attachment operation.

A gradually appearing amount, color and shape of the moved marker material may provide visual clues about band clamp installation. In some embodiments, a contrastingly colored under material wider than the band clamp may be disposed underneath a marker on the side of the object being secured. Due to the band constriction during joint installation, the marker material parts sidewise from underneath the band clamp and masks the contrasting under material with neutrally colored marker material.

The method also includes positioning a replacement shroud system adjacent the remaining portion of the original shroud apparatus and connecting a plurality of removable fastening devices between the new replacement shroud system and the remaining portion of the original shroud apparatus. The replacement shroud system thus can, in the future, be readily replaced by detaching the removable fastening devices, removing the replacement shroud system, and installing a new replacement shroud system with less effort than was required in cutting through the original shroud and replacing it with the replacement shroud system. An improved replacement shroud system is also disclosed.

Abstract: Mounting rings and methods for mounting structures to shafts are provided. The rings and methods may be used to mount other rings or housings to a shaft. The rings are characterized by having flexible inner diameters that can deflect under a radial load. The radial deflection of the inner diameter permits the rings to deflect and engage an outer diameter of a shaft. The engagement of the rings with a shaft provides at least some resistance to movement, for example, rotation and/or axial displacement, of the shaft relative to the ring and structure. In one aspect, the ring has a closed, hollow, construction, for example, a circular, oval, or polygonal closed, hollow construction. The ring may include a plurality of indentations, such as slots, on the inside diameter of the ring that may relieve at least some of the circumferential stress in the ring. Methods for using the rings to mount a structure to a shaft are also disclosed.

Abstract: A vanity mirror and light assembly is provided for use on a vehicle visor. The vanity assembly includes a clear frame molded to a reflective film to define a reflector portion and a partially transmissive portion. The axle spindle is formed with parallel inboard and outboard bearing surfaces, a shoulder that is perpendicular to the inboard and outboard bearing surfaces, and threads for a spindle nut that are aligned with the inboard and outboard bearing surfaces. The wheel hub is formed with inboard and outboard bearing surfaces that are in parallel alignment with one another, and bearing axial stop surfaces that are perpendicular to the wheel hub bearing surfaces. The spindle nut is formed with threads on its inner periphery and a flat inboard surface that is perpendicular to the threads. The axle spindle, wheel hub, and spindle nut cooperate to enable an axle spindle nut assembly to consistently provide a light preload on a bearing cone and spacer group of the wheel end assembly.
