Abstract: A new garden rose plant of the climber class which has abundant, dark red flowers and attractive foliage. This new and distinct variety has shown to be uniform and stable in the resulting generations from asexual propagation.

Abstract: The new ‘HBOK 27’ rootstock is an ‘OP-F2’ plant from an F1 plant of an intraspecific hybrid between two peach parents that is useful as a commercial under-stock for peach and nectarine cultivars. The ‘HBOK 27’ rootstock has been successfully propagated clonally by leafy cuttings and tissue culture. The ‘HBOK 27’ rootstock is graft compatible with peach scion cultivars, and confers moderate vigor control to the compound trees. Peach trees grown on the ‘HBOK 27’ rootstock are productive, require less pruning than trees on grown on the standard rootstock ‘Nemaguard’, and produce fewer root suckers than ‘Nemaguard’. The ‘HBOK 27’ rootstock shows moderate resistance to root knot nematode [Meloidogyne incognita (race 1) isolate ‘Beltran’] that is slightly less than that of the standard rootstock ‘Nemaguard’.

Abstract: A package measurement apparatus comprising three measurement devices, one for each dimension. Each measurement device comprises a plurality of signal receptor modules. Each module comprises a row of signal receptor, and a signal energy source. In a first calibration step, the outputs of each receptor are standardized to reference maximums and minimums. In a second calibration step, calibration sets of receptor outputs are created and recorded. During measurement, a measurement set of receptor outputs is obtained and matched with a calibration set of receptor outputs to determine the dimension of an object.

The first application program runs on a central processing unit (CPU) of a computer system to produce a base image, and another application program referred to as the overlay program is run to produce the translucent image such that portions of the base image which are overlapped by the overlay image are at least partially visible through the translucent image. There is also a mechanism for blending the first video data and the second video data to produce a blended image on the screen assembly.

In a case that the measure of errors corresponds to more errors than a first predetermined threshold, communication changes from a first set of wireless link parameters to a second set of wireless link parameters. The second set of wireless link parameters corresponds to higher error tolerance than the first set of wireless link parameters. In a case that the measure of errors corresponds to fewer errors than a second predetermined threshold, communication changes from the first set of wireless link parameters to a third set of wireless link parameters. The third set of wireless link parameters corresponds to lower error tolerance than the first set of wireless link parameters. Preferably, the measure of errors is determined by monitoring a number of NACK messages and a number of ACK messages that occur.

The indication is subsequently provided to a computer system such that unauthorized accessing, including unauthorized copying, of the video and/or audio data is prohibited.

Abstract: For lack of a unique, specific and detailed specification for information on status of a mobile station to be notified by a mobile station to a fixed station, an operation may be varied from one mobile station to another in a communication system, thereby posing a problem for an efficient uplink scheduling. A communication method includes a transmission process multiplexing a transport channel for transmitting data from a high-order layer on a physical data channel and transmitting the multiplexed result to the fixed station, a status notification process notifying status information containing information on a transmission power headroom used for scheduling, and a transmission control process receiving the scheduling result and controlling the transmission process. The status information notification process includes notifying an index attached to each predetermined transmission power headroom level classified between upper and lower limit values of the transmission power headroom as the status information.

Abstract: This invention combines methodologies that enhance voice recognition dictation. It describes features for moving speaker voice files eliminating redundant training of speech recognition dictation applications. It defines how to create synthetic voice models reducing speaker dependency. It combines accuracy and performance into a single measure called RAP Rate. Moreover, the invention describes enhancing voice recognition applications and systems by measure/adjusting hardware and software features for optimal voice recognition dictation incorporating methodical processes based on RAP Rate. Using these approaches and tools the invention includes a method for constructing a handheld transcriber that immediately translates audio speech into text with real-time display. The invention describes a method for applying RAP Rate and synthetic voice models to applications like voice mail to text. With the ability to move and translate voice models the invention describes new services that could be provided for a fee.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for diagnosing, remedying and blocking harmful information including computer viruses online over a computer network via which a web server and a client are linked to each other. The method includes, on a computer network through which a web server and a client system are linked to each other, the web server receiving a connection request from the client system over the computer network. Then, the web server transmits a harmful information blocking code module to the client system. Once the transmission of the harmful information blocking code module is completed the harmful information blocking code module automatically runs on the client system to block in real time harmful information including computer viruses.

Abstract: A barrier device is adapted to be worn by a user and provide isolation between the user and an object that is to be contacted by the user. The barrier device comprises a first pocket having a first top surface and a first bottom surface and an opening providing access to a cavity between the first top and bottom surfaces. The barrier device also includes a second pocket having a second top surface and a second bottom surface and an opening providing access to a cavity between the second top and bottom surfaces. A panel interconnects the first bottom surface and the second top surface to connect the first and second pockets, the panel having an adjustable length such that when a user wears the barrier device with one or more fingers in the first pocket and thumb in the second pocket, the panel provides a barrier for the user's palm that is adjustable to accommodate different hand sizes of different users. Furthermore, the barrier device is adapted to be wearable on either the right or left hand of a user.

A second portion of the second fastening mechanism is disposed in at least two locations proximal midsection adjacent the longitudinal edges. A hood is one of formed integrally with and attached to the upper body portion adjacent the top edge of such upper body portion.

Abstract: A jacket for tactical use by police, for example, has a side opening just below the arm to the bottom of the jacket, with a quick-opening feature for fast access to a weapon secured under the jacket. The side opening is closed by a zipper pulled downwardly, concealed by a flap when closed. A small gripping tab extends out at the exterior of the jacket near the bottom edge, at the end of a rip cord secured to a buckle or clip positioned along the inside surface of the jacket. The clip snaps together to hold the jacket opening secured at bottom. When the rip cord is pulled, this has the effect of releasing the buckle and opening the zipper to separate the jacket along the opening line. The wearer can thus quickly reach a weapon or other implement by a rapid one-handed pull of the rip cord.

Abstract: An athletic glove for use in handling a ball includes a single layer of elastic material forming a body that generally conforms in shape to a human hand. The body has four finger portions, a thumb portion, and an outer surface including a palmar side and a dorsal side. The palmar side and the dorsal side each include at least one breathable portion including a plurality of randomly disposed micropores. The four finger portions each include at least one longitudinal slit on the palmar side that provide for direct tactile stimulation of a hand through the glove.

Abstract: A helmet having a first helmet portion and a second helmet portion disposed adjacent to said first helmet portion, with the portions being slidably connected to one another and slidable relative to each other. The second helmet portion has a restraint defining a passage. The first helmet portion has an opening exposing a portion of the restraint. A securing member is received in the opening of the first helmet portion and slidable between engaged and disengaged positions. A portion of the securing member extends through the opening toward the second helmet portion and is received in the passage when in the disengaged position. The securing member engages the restraint and prevents relative movement of the first and second helmet portions when in the engaged position.

Improved steerage for the device is provided by two centerline wheels which counter-rotate from a straight position to a turning position and further to a lateral position wherein the wheels are orthogonal to the longitudinal centerline of the device.

Abstract: A tuning device consisting of a wax piece, a scraper, and a buffer in a portable unit for creating a waxed surface for skis and snowboards. The tuning device may also include a cord or strap for carrying the device and a cap fitting over the wax for keeping other surfaces from coming in direct contact with the wax while carrying and storing the device. The wax cap may also be used to form new wax on the tuning device. The tuning device allows for the application of wax to the base surface of all types of skis and snowboards. The wax is first applied to the base surface of the ski or snowboard, filling in scratches and gouges on the base surface. The excess wax is then scraped off using the scraper. The base surface of the ski or snowboard where the wax was applied is then polished using the buffer.

Abstract: A bridge replacement method is disclosed. The bridge includes a deck supported by a pair of abutments, each abutment having wing walls. The deck is removed, footings are cast in holes dug behind each abutment and a pier is provided on each footing. Substantially parallel and coplanar cambered beams are provided. Each beam spans between and is supported by the piers. A brace assembly reinforces the beam camber. On each adjacent pair of beams, precast deck elements are placed, such that each element of said plurality spans the beam pair, to define at least transverse gaps between the elements and put the upper surfaces of the elements in compression in a transverse direction. The gaps are grouted. After grout curing, the brace is adjusted to reduce the beam camber and cause the upper surface of the elements to also be put into compression in a direction parallel to the beams.
