Abstract: Systems, devices and methods relating to a spinal implant for placement in a disc space of a spine are described. A spinal implant (1) can include a plurality of wedge members including a leading wedge (22), a trailing wedge (28), and one or more intermediary wedges (26) therebetween. The spinal implant (1) can be configured to have a first linear configuration in which the plurality of wedge members are in a linearly expanded form and a second circular configuration in which the plurality of wedge members are positioned circumferentially relative to a center axis. In its first configuration, the spinal implant (1) can be delivered to a disc space, whereby it can assume its second configuration within the disc space, thereby forming a replacement nucleus. The spinal implant (1) can be kept in its first configuration by a rod member (41) received as through the plurality of wedge members. The wedge members can be slidably removed off of the rod member (41) and can assume the second configuration.

Abstract: To change a spatial relationship between two or more bones in a patient's body, a wedge member is moved into a joint between the bones. The wedge member may have a cam-shaped configuration and be rotated through less than a revolution to apply force against the bones. The wedge member may have a porous construction which enables bone to grow through the wedge member and immobilize the joint. The wedge member may be coated with and/or contain bone growth promoting material. The wedge member may be connected to only one of the bones or may be connected to two adjacent bones. If the wedge member is connected to only one bone, the joint may be capable of being flexed after the wedge member is inserted into the joint.

Using position guides in a user interface, an in-use component is aligned and ready for verification through a first set of images of the in-use component. A visual highlight area on the user interface overlaying the in-use component indicates where to perform the assembly instructions. To create a traceable record, a second set of images are stored in an assembly record database when the assembler points a wand where the in-use component has been assembled. Another verification approach includes pointing an image capture device over the in-use component and receiving a first voice command authorizing image acquisition. Abstract: The present invention discloses a five-axis flank milling system for machining a curved surface and a tool-path planning method. The method generates a tool path comprising a series of cutter locations by optimization with minimizing machining errors. The tool path planning method includes a reciprocating tool path planning method and a multi-pass tool path planning method. The reciprocating tool path planning method eliminates the “forward only” limitation. The tool is allowed to move backward in certain regions, producing smaller machining errors compared with forward only cutter movement. Furthermore, the multi-pass tool path planning method computes various tool paths applied to finish milling multiple times. Each path can be chosen to be generated by minimizing undercut error, overcut error, or the total machining error. The machining errors are reduced in a progressive manner, resulting in better machining quality than single pass tool path.

Abstract: Technology for milling selected portions of a workpiece by a cutting tool of a numerical control machine is described. The described technology can receive a main toolpath, the main toolpath comprising one or more cuts; compute one or more transition toolpaths, each transition toolpath defining a transition area intersecting one or more of the cuts of the main toolpath; trim one or more cuts of the main toolpath near two or more points of intersection between the main toolpath and the transition toolpaths; connect the trimmed portions of the main toolpath with one or more connecting moves such that each connecting move is mostly inside one or more of the transition areas; and mill the selected portions of the workpiece by moving the cutting tool in accordance with the cuts, transition toolpaths, trimmed cuts, and connecting moves.

Abstract: An automated self storage facility which stores individual items in movable storage units and/or storage containers which are stored throughout the storage facility. Limited users access to the facility is provided at predesignated locations. The users container is transported between its storage location and the access location by the automated robotic system within the facility to provide efficient handling, storage and retrieval of goods in a storage facility. A central control system maintains a record container location throughout the facility. Upon request the system retrieves a container and delivers it. The containers may be partitioned such that a single container may have multiple compartments. In this case the automated system maintains a record of compartments and appropriately orients the container at the access location upon retrieval.

Abstract: A material-loading control system and method are disclosed for controlling a track conveyor on a production line through a control unit. When materials are to be loaded, production information is first obtained from a production management system, and information of a tray to be loaded, information of a feeder in which the tray is loaded, and information of a corresponding station are identified. The various information are compared with the production information obtained to see whether they are matched or not. If they are not matched, the control unit is instructed to power off the track conveyor to stop the operation of the track conveyor. In addition, during subsequent production process, if a material-tossing action is detected in the production line, then the control unit is instructed to stop the operation of the track conveyor, thereby ensuring the correctness of tray changing and reducing the error rate in material loading.

Abstract: Automatic planogram programming for a glass front snack or cold drink vending machine is accomplished using tray, product and price barcodes, each preferably a different type of barcode. Trays within the vending machine are labeled with unique barcodes, and a set of price barcodes for predetermined prices is provided together with a USB-connected scanner. The barcode label affixed to any tray is scanned by the route driver. The UPC/EAN barcodes on products are then scanned for each selection progressing across the tray, together with a price barcode for the first selection and each subsequent selection having a different price from the prior selection on the tray. Planogram data for the tray may be reviewed and corrected on a customer interface display for the vending machine before moving on to another tray, with the trays programmed in any order. The planogram for the entire vending machine is quickly and accurately programmed.
