  • Patent number: 8499428
Abstract: A method of repairing array substrate of display panel includes the following steps. An array substrate including a substrate, gate lines, data lines, common lines and repairing segments is provided. The gate lines and the data lines are intersected to define a plurality of pixel areas. The data lines include a first data line. The common lines include a first common line. The first data line has a broken line defect. A cutting process is performed to form a first cutting part and a second cutting part on the first common line, and thus the first common line between the first cutting part and the second cutting part forms a floating common repairing segment. A connecting process is performed to electrically connect the repairing segments, the first data line and the common repairing segment, so that the common repairing segment serves as a substitution line of the first data line.

  • Patent number: 8499441
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a printed circuit board includes stacking a solder resist layer on one side of a carrier; forming a first circuit pattern, which includes a first electrode pad, on the solder resist layer; forming a conductive post on the first electrode pad; stacking and pressing the carrier onto an insulation layer stacked in an inner substrate, such that the conductive post faces the insulation layer; and removing the carrier. As the conductive posts are pressed into the insulation layers to implement interlayer connections, certain drilling processes for forming via holes may be omitted, so that the degree of freedom can be increased in designing the circuits, and the circuits can be made to have greater densities. As the circuit patterns are buried in the insulation layers, the board can be made thinner, and the attachment areas can be increased, to allow greater adhesion.

  • Patent number: 8499445
Abstract: Printed conductive lines and a method of preparing them using polymer nanocomposites with low resistivity and high current carrying capacity. Plasma treatment selectively removes polymers/organics from nanocomposites. Subsequent selective metal is deposited on top of the exposed metal surface of the printed conductive lines in order to improve current carrying capacity of the conductive printed lines. The printed conductive lines use a conductive ink or printing process and are then cured thermally and/or by a lamination process. Next, the printed conductive lines are treated with the plasma for 5-15 minutes in order to remove organics. E-less copper (Cu) is selectively deposited only at the conducting particle surface of the printed conductive lines. If desired, e-less gold, silver, tin, or tin-lead can be deposited on top of the e-less Cu.

  • Patent number: 8499467
Abstract: A clay cutting and beveling tool (100, 300) includes a guide ruler (115) including a guiding edge (410) and a cutting guide (120) in sliding engagement with the guiding edge. The cutting guide includes a body (520) formed with a plurality of angled through holes (530) each passing through the body at a different angle. The tool (100) is placed onto a clay slab (105) with a support surface (445) in contact with a top surface of the clay slab. A pin tool (110) is inserted into one of the angled through holes and left in engagement with the angled through hole as the cutting guide is advanced along the guiding edge. The pin tool cuts the clay slab with a beveled cut. A non-beveled through hole (535) also passes through the body (520) and is used to make non-beveled cuts.

  • Patent number: 8499469
Abstract: An edge finder includes a housing having a power source included therein. The edge finder includes a probe extending outward from a bottom portion of the housing, the probe including a tip portion located at a distal end, a centrally-disposed spherical portion, and a columnar portion located at a proximal end. The edge finder includes a notification element disposed within the housing, the notification element including the ability to be engaged via the power source, such as for example a light source. The edge finder includes a contact element within the housing such that when lateral pressure is applied to the conical portion, the probe rotates about the spherical portion and columnar portion causes the contact element to engage the power source for activating the notification element. Thus, the edge finder is able to determine X, Y, and Z axes of an item using the notification element for guidance.

  • Patent number: 8499471
Abstract: The present disclosure provides, among other things, a system and process for drying a biosolid or sludge, such as wastewater sludge. The system and method include a fluidized bed dryer in which the sludge is dried. The fluidized bed includes bed media. In particular examples, the bed media is different than the sludge. The system and method can include additional features, such treating the sludge using a thermochemical process in a thermochemical reactor, such as a gasifier, to produce a fuel. The fuel is then combusted to produce energy and heat. The heat is recycled to the drier to help dry sludge. In particular examples, sludge input to the dryer is not first treated using a high-pressure dewatering technique. In some embodiments, the system and method include an anaerobic digester coupled to a combustion unit coupled to the dryer.

  • Patent number: 8499474
Abstract: A hands-free fastening mechanism for releasably securing a user's foot to footwear is disclosed. The fastening mechanism comprises at least one pivotable strap which is coupled to a hinge mechanism which, in turn, is secured to the footwear. The hinge mechanism allows the strap to pivot between an open and a closed position. The strap is further coupled to a lever which is engageable by a user's foot so as to cause the strap to move from the open position to the closed position. When the strap moves to the closed position, a catch will engage, thereby securing the user's foot within the footwear. The footwear may then be removed by using the other foot to apply pressure to a protruding member or by striking the heel on a hard surface and then withdrawing the secured foot such that the catch is disengaged and the foot is released.
