Patent number: 8547389Abstract: Embodiments are described for a method to generate an image that includes image structure detail captured from a first image and color from a second image. The first image of a defined subject can be obtained from a computer memory. The first image may be a downsampled fine image with image detail. The second image captured of the defined subject in the first image can be obtained from a computer memory. The second image may be a coarse image. A target pixel in the second image can be selected. A target color distribution for a pixel window of the target pixel can then be computed. A source color distribution for a pixel window of a corresponding pixel in the first image can be computed using a computer processor. Further, a statistic of the target pixel can be determined with respect to the target color distribution. The source color in the source color distribution can be computed with the statistic. The target pixel color can then be replaced by the source color.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2010Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Hugues Hoppe, Charles Han, Matt Uyttendaele

Patent number: 8547433Abstract: It is disclosed an extended-life video detector assembly (VDA) directable at a viewing region. The VDA includes a video camera module having a normally inactive state, and a passive detection module (PDM) for selective activation of the video camera module. A battery powers the VDA for an extended period of at least two years. The VDA may include a control panel assembly (CPA) positioned within a communication range from the VDA for sending and receiving wireless signals to and from the VDA, and a central monitoring station located remotely from the CPA and communicating with it. Also the VDA includes a recording module, for recording video information. The PDM discriminates movement of an object in the viewing region and consequently activates the video camera module, based on characteristic parameters like temperature, size, movement direction, and movement speed.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2008Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Inventor: Haim Amir

Patent number: 8547436Abstract: A method of configuring data processing apparatus for automatically determining the real size of an object in an image of a scene is provided. The method includes responding to user input by displaying in the image of the scene displayed on the display screen a virtual object representative of a real size object to establish a first datum position, and storing data defining the first datum position; varying a size of the virtual object in the image; storing data representative of a horizontal and vertical size of the virtual object relative to the displayed image at the first datum position; displaying said virtual object at a second datum position in said image; varying the size of the virtual object on the display screen at the second datum position; and storing data representative of the vertical and horizontal size of the virtual object at the second datum position.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2012Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Ispotek LtdInventors: Boghos Boghossian, James Black

Patent number: 8547437Abstract: A computerized method of video analysis that includes receiving several series of video frames generated by a number of image sensors. Each image sensor has its own field-of-view which can, but does not have to, overlap with another image sensor's field-of-view. The image sensors monitor a portion of a monitored environment. The computerized method also includes concurrently tracking, independent of calibration, multiple objects within the monitored environment as the objects move between fields-of-view, and multiple objects within one field-of-view. The tracking is based on the plurality of received series of video frames.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2003Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Sensormatic Electronics, LLCInventors: Christopher J. Patent number: 8547438Abstract: An object detecting apparatus includes an evaluation information storage unit that stores evaluation information used for computing an evaluation value for each of a plurality of objects, where the evaluation value is used for evaluating which one of the objects is contained in an image, a determination information storage unit that stores determination information used for determining whether the object is contained in an image in association with each of the objects, a computing unit that computes the evaluation value for each of the objects by extracting features from a plurality of areas of the image using the evaluation information and comparing two of the extracted features, and a determination unit that determines whether the object is contained in the image using the determination information associated with the object relating to the evaluation value that satisfies a predetermined condition among the evaluation values computed for the objects.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2010Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Sony CorporationInventor: Kaname Ogawa

Patent number: 8547439Abstract: A camera module under test is signaled to capture an image of a target. A group of pixels of the image that represent portions of several objects in the target are low pass filtered and then analyzed to compute a pixel distance between different subgroups of pixels that represent portions of the different objects. The computed pixel distance is then converted into a true distance using a predetermined math relationship that relates a pixel distance variable with a true distance variable.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2012Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Jason R.
