Publication number: 20140093393Abstract: In an electric water pump for circulating cooling water of an engine mounted on a vehicle or similar, a time interval to switch energized phase of a pump motor is set to longer than a time interval during a normal flow rate control (during a flow rate control at a flow rate equal to or more than a flow rate where an electromotive force generated at a non-energized phase is detectable). In the case where a pump discharge pressure (or a water temperature of the cooling water) repeatedly increases and decreases in this extremely low flow rate state, it is determined that the electric water pump normally rotates as required. This allows providing the extremely low flow rate state between a water stop state and a water circulation state in a control for stop of water in an engine cooling system.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2011Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: TOYOTA JIDOSHA KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Yukari Araki, Osamu Shintani, Takasuke Shikida

Publication number: 20140093395Abstract: A method of compressing gas using the same gas as the working fluid, using a compressor comprising a reciprocating piston type compressor, a driving cylinder and a driven cylinder. The piston type compressor receives low pressure gas and fills the driven cylinder to a medium pressure target. A valve then directs the output from the piston type compressor to fill the driving cylinder, creating sufficient force to drive the connecting rod between the cylinders fully toward the driven cylinder. The connecting rod force compresses the gas in the driven cylinder and forces it out through a one way valve to a storage cylinder. A valve then directs the piston type compressor to fill the opposite side of the driving cylinder and the driven cylinder, forcing the connecting rod to retract. This cycle is repeated until the final output target high pressure is achieved in the storage vessel.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2012Publication date: April 3, 2014Inventors: James Vergil Leavy, Thomas Michael Leavy

Publication number: 20140093396Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing and controlling flow rate of a compressed gas produced by a compression system having one or more stages of compression formed by a centrifugal compressor or compressors, inlet guide vanes to control flow through the compression stage or stages and an electric motor directly coupled to the stage or stages having a restricted speed zone within which vibrational modes can damage the electric motor. A desired flow rate is obtained by speed adjustment alone and with the inlet guide vanes positioned at 0° when the speed will lie above or below the restricted speed zone. Where a desired flow rate would require extended operation of the electric motor at a speed within the restricted speed zone, the speed is set to the uppermost level of the restricted speed zone and the desired flow rate is obtained through appropriate positioning of the inlet guide vanes.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2012Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: Praxair Technology, Inc.Inventors: Michael J. Publication number: 20140093430Abstract: A reaction vessel having a reaction chamber for holding a sample is fabricated by producing a housing having a rigid frame defining the minor walls of the chamber. The housing also defines a port for introducing fluid into the chamber. At least one sheet or film is attached to the rigid frame to form at least one major wall of the chamber. In preferred embodiments, two sheets or films are attached to opposite sides of the rigid frame to form two opposing major walls of the chamber, the major walls being connected to each other by the minor walls.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 1, 2012Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: CepheidInventor: Cepheid

Publication number: 20140093432Abstract: The present invention is directed to an assembly for use in detecting an analyte in a sample based on thin-film spectral interference. The assembly comprises a waveguide, a monolithic substrate optically coupled to the waveguide, and a thin-film layer directly bonded to the sensing side of the monolithic substrate. The refractive index of the monolithic substrate is higher than the refractive index of the transparent material of the thin-film layer. A spectral interference between the light reflected into the waveguide from a first reflecting surface and a second reflecting surface varies as analyte molecules in a sample bind to the analyte binding molecules coated on the thin-film layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2013Publication date: April 3, 2014Inventors: Hong Tan, Yushan Tan, Erhua Cao, Min Xia, Robert F. Publication number: 20140093433Abstract: A hydroprocessing system involves introducing heavy oil and in situ formed metal sulfide catalyst particles, or a catalyst precursor capable of forming metal sulfide catalyst particles in situ within the heavy oil, into a hydroprocessing reactor. The metal sulfide catalyst particles are formed in situ by 1) premixing a catalyst precursor with a hydrocarbon diluent to form a precursor mixture, 2) mixing the precursor mixture with heavy oil to form a conditioned feedstock, and 3) heating the conditioned feedstock to decompose the catalyst precursor and cause or allow metal from the precursor to react with sulfur in the heavy oil to form the metal sulfide catalyst particles in situ in the heavy oil. The in situ formed metal sulfide catalyst particles catalyze beneficial upgrading reactions between the heavy oil and hydrogen and eliminates or reduces formation of coke precursors and sediment.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2013Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: HEADWATERS HEAVY OIL, LLCInventors: Roger K. Publication number: 20140093437Abstract: Ammoximation reactor for cyclohexanone oxime production comprising: (a) a reactor vessel provided with a stirrer; (b) an internal filtering system; (c) an internal liquid ammonia evaporation coil; (d) an internal gaseous ammonia toroidal distributor; (e) an external cyclohexanone toroidal distributor; (f) an internal hydrogen peroxide toroidal distributor; (g) an internal cylindrical draft tube; (h) an external cooling jacket. Said ammoximation reactor allows to obtain a better mixing of the components of the ammoximation reaction and to maximize both the heat-transfer coefficients and the mass-transfer coefficients. Moreover, said ammoximation reactor allows to increase the packing time of the catalyst used in the ammoximation reaction on the filtering system (i.e. the plugging phenomena) so as to avoid the necessity of carrying out the backwashings with nitrogen.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2012Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: Versalis S.P.A.Inventors: Alessandro Del Seppia, Elena Ghirardo
