Publication number: 20140093681Abstract: A patterned curviform surface of glass includes a glass body having a smooth surface. The smooth surface has a plurality of compressive stress area, and the plurality of compressive stress area forms a predetermined pattern. Compressive stress retained in the compressive stress area is lager than 50 Mpa so that the plurality of compressive stress area will form a patterned curviform surface based on the predetermined pattern. A method for manufacturing the patterned curviform surface of glass includes forming a mask onto the smooth surface of surface roughness lower than 0.12 ?m. The mask includes a plurality of hollow, and the plurality of hollow forms a predetermined pattern. The smooth surface is processed by a chemical ion tempering process to form a plurality of compressive stress area retaining compressive stress within the hollow of the mask. By removing the mask and cleaning the smooth surface, a curviform surface opposite to the predetermined pattern is formed to the smooth surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2013Publication date: April 3, 2014Inventor: NAI-YUE LIANG

Publication number: 20140093687Abstract: The present invention is directed to novel, improved, modified or treated microporous membranes for use in textile related applications and which are preferably composed of two or more dissimilar porous membrane or material layers laminated together using heat, compression and/or adhesives. The preferred inventive laminated composite microporous membrane is modified using a technique or treatment such as microcreping to introduce permanent small, regularly spaced, crepes, profiles, compactions, pleats, or wrinkles into the laminated composite microporous membrane for the purpose of improving mechanical strength, elasticity and/or resiliency. In addition, the inventive microcreped microporous laminated membrane more preferably has significantly improved ‘hand’ or softness, has ‘next-to-the-skin’ softness, and/or is quiet without crinkling noises during movement, which may be desired performance properties or characteristics of or in textile garments, materials or applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2013Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: Celgard, LLCInventors: Karl F. Publication number: 20140093688Abstract: Methods of fabricating nano-structures on a substrate surface are provided including the use of small initial pilot nano-structures patterned in a writing layer which are enlarged upon transfer to a pattern transfer layer among process layers applied to the substrate material, before removal of the writing layer to reveal the enlarged nano-structures. Enlarged nano-structures are transferred to the substrate by etch techniques to produce desired final enlarged nano-structures in the substrate surface. Raised out of plane and etched-in-plane nano-structures may be produced. Multiple geometries, configurations and spacings of 2D (such as in-plane nano-structures) and/or 3D (such as out of plane nano-structures) nano-structures and/or grids or arrays thereof may be fabricated on a surface of a substrate according to a single fabrication process.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2012Publication date: April 3, 2014Inventors: Yindar CHUO, Clinton LANDROCK, Badr OMRANE, Bozena Kaminska
