Abstract: In order to provide a polyurethane yarn having exceptional performance in terms of resistance to chlorine embrittlement essentially without the use of zinc, which is a heavy metal, and having advantageous application particularly in swimwear; as well as a fabric and article of swimwear using the polyurethane yarn, the present invention is a polyurethane yarn characterized in containing a partially hindered phenol compound having at least one partially hindered hydroxyphenyl group and a molecular weight of 300 or more, and a synthetic carbonate comprising one metal selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and alkaline-earth metals. The polyurethane yarn and other fibers are combined to yield a fabric and article of swimwear.

Abstract: The present invention provides a swimming cap (6) defining a cavity for accommodating a wearer's head (2). The cap further defines an enlarged volume portion (7). In use, the enlarged volume portion (7) is positioned at the nape (3) of the wearer's neck and contains the wearer's hair. This results in improved hydrodynamics compared to traditional swimming cap designs especially when the wearer has long hair.

Abstract: A fabric is provided having a defined pattern of hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions that extend entirely through the thickness of the fabric so that the defined pattern is identical on the inner and outer surfaces of the fabric. The defined pattern is configured so that the hydrophilic regions are all in communication or interconnected so that moisture, such as perspiration, can wick not only from the inner to the outer surface of the fabric but also throughout the surface of the fabric and in several directions on the fabric so that the surface area of the wetted hydrophilic regions increases. The defined pattern may be further configured so that none of the hydrophobic regions are in communication.

Abstract: An improved personal propulsion device that imparts thrust directly to the user when operating a human powered vehicle to improve mobility thereof. The device allows hands free control of thrust magnitude and direction so both hands can grasp and control bicycle handlebars and brakes, watercraft paddles, ski poles or other apparatuses. In another embodiment, the device can be attached directly to the vehicle. The device can be provided with a collapsible shrouded propeller assembly comprising a shroud made up of interlocking panels that are each removably attached to the end of an elongated strut, with each the struts being pivotally and/or telescopically disposed relative to the propulsion mechanism. The panels can be slidably engaged with the struts. A gradiently flexible garment can be worn by a user and utilized with a gradiently flexible fairing attached to the user and a bicycle to improve aerodynamics when riding the bicycle.

Abstract: A disposable protective cover for use on a finger while eating has a grease resistant flexible sheet that can be secured to a finger for repelling grease and sauces from foods being handled. The central body portion of the cover is approximately the same width and length as the finger. An upper tab extends from the upper end of the central body, and a lower tab extends from the lower end. A left tab and a right tab extend from the sides. The rear side of the sheet has an adhesive and a release sheet covering the adhesive. The user removes the release sheet to expose an adhesive on the rear surface, places the finger on the central body portion so that the lower tab extends onto the user's palm. The user then folds the upper tab over the fingertip and wraps the left and right tabs around the finger.

Abstract: The invention relates to a performance dress shirt and methods of manufacture. In embodiments, the performance dress shirt includes a front portion made of a first material, a back portion having outer sections made of a first material and an inner section made of a different second material coupled to the front portion and two sleeves made of the first material coupled substantially opposite each other to the front portion and the back portion. In other embodiments, the performance dress shirt has a front portion, a back portion coupled to the first portion, and two sleeves coupled substantially opposite each other to the front portion and the back portion. Each of the front portion, the back portion, and the sleeves have an interior layer and an exterior layer, with the interior layer having a smaller pore structure than the exterior layer.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a helmet structure for reducing kinetic energy transmission. The helmet receives contact of an object that transfers kinetic energy to a first layer having material that displaces in response to applied shearing force. The helmet uses a second layer having material that displaces in response to applied shearing force and uses a third layer having material that does not displace in response to applied shearing force to transfer kinetic energy laterally with respect to the skull. Helmet layers can have material with different mechanical responses, including elastic or rubbery elastic. The outer slip layer may also contain reinforcement particles such as metal, glass and ceramic. In one embodiment, each layer in the structure has a different shear modulus and each layer has a higher shear modulus than the immediately preceding layer. The shear modulus of each layer is modified by adding rigid reinforcement to the layer.

Abstract: A multilayered premoistened cleaning wipe having: a liquid permeable first layer joined to a liquid permeable second layer and a core disposed between the first layer and the second layer. A cleaning composition is releasably absorbed in the core. The cleaning composition has between about 0.001% to about 10% by weight of surfactant. The wipe has a first colored region and a second colored region.
