  • Patent number: RE44925
Abstract: An image system which captures, along with the images, information defining both the position and the orientation of the camera along with the distance to the subject. A video camera is attached to three accelerometers, two gyroscopes, and a rangefinder. Data gathered from these devices and defining the pitch, yaw, and roll of the camera, the camera's acceleration, and the distance to the subject is captured and recorded along with video images. The video images are later stored within a computer's data base along with data defining the position and orientation of the camera and the distance to the subject for each image, this latter data being computed from the captured data. The images may then be presented to the user in a three-dimensional display in which the user can navigate through the images using a joystick device, with the images located in positions corresponding to the positions in space of the objects that were imaged.

  • Patent number: 8739319
Abstract: The helmet stabilization apparatus includes a helmet adapted to be worn by a user, a night vision goggle unit attached to a front portion of the helmet, and a removable counterweight attached to a rear portion of the helmet that balances with the weight of the night vision goggle unit, wherein said removable counterweight can be connected in a variety of manners, such as a magnetic means of connection, a hook and loop connection, or a mechanical means of connection. Furthermore, the helmet may provide staggered connections, such that the removable counterweight may be positioned on the helmet at the user's desired orientation. This allows the user to move the center of mass of the system such that it is self-stabilizing on the user's head. Moreover, the removable counterweight may be formed such that when it is removed, it may be coupled with an attachable handle to form a plurality of tools or weapons. This is beneficial in that it provides a collection of tools while only one object need be carried.

  • Patent number: 8739320
Abstract: Conservation of oily liquid sealant in coaxial odor trap cartridges for waterless urinals is accomplished in the present invention by the addition of a liquid-flow-diverting structure having at least one helical fin encircling the outer surface of the cylindrical partition that extends downwardly from the cartridge top cap. In a preferred embodiment two similar diametrically-opposed helical fins conserve sealant by modifying the otherwise vertical downward flow path to a downward incline that minimizes down-the-drain sealant loss by intensifying recovery of stray traces of sealant that become detached from the main layer of sealant and get swept along with the downward flow of wastewater in the outer chamber during a usage event. The sealant recovery action of the helical fins that takes place in the outer chamber is further enhanced by specially proportioning the cross-sectional flow area of the three chambers in the cartridge to maximize the cross-sectional flow area of the outer chamber.

  • Patent number: 8739324
Abstract: A bracket for mounting a curved shower rod on a previously installed straight shower rod. The bracket includes a body having a first member that defines a first bore for receiving an end of the curved shower rod therein, and a second member defining a second bore for receiving a portion of the straight shower rod therein. The first member extends outwardly from the second member at an angle. The second member comprises first and second regions that are movable away from each other to capture a portion of the straight shower rod between them. A securement mechanism locks the first and second regions together to prevent the bracket from disengaging from the straight shower rod. A second mounting bracket is similarly engaged on an opposite end of the straight shower rod and receives a second end of the curved shower rod therein.
