  • Patent number: 8747039
Abstract: A set of a bolt and a nut having a rotation prohibiting mechanism comprises a foldable part (30) at the tip of a bolt (20), that can be folded around an axis perpendicular to a bolt axis. A tip portion (30) can be folded to either sides with the direction extending along the bolt axis as a center. Grooves (18a-18g) for storing the foldable part (30) are formed on a tip surface (a surface from which the tip of the bolt projects out when the bolt and the nut are tightened) of the nut (12) or the knob (18). A number of the grooves is an odd number. The grooves are arranged radially with equal angular intervals with a center at a screw hole of the nut. For example, seven grooves are arranged radially with equal angular intervals. In this case, the angle between adjacent two grooves is about 51.4 degrees, and this angle is to be an expected angular resolution of the rotation prohibition. However, according to the above mentioned set of the bolt and the nut, the expected angular resolution can be halved (i.e. 25.

  • Patent number: 8747067
Abstract: A trillium wind turbine has an electricity-generating nacelle and swept-back, complexly-curved blades. Each blade has a main blade, a trailing edge blade, and a diversion blade. Wind is directed down the length of the blade and exits the tip. The main blade resembles a portion of a cylinder in form, the cylinder being twisted to change the angle of attack, thereby adding more lift throughout the length of the blade. The trailing edge and diversion blades are pitched relative to the wind and produce lift. Additionally, wind hitting the diversion blade is diverted behind the blade. Because the surface area and volume of the blade are larger near the nacelle and smaller at the tip, the air that travels along the blade increases in velocity as it travels producing more thrust/lift. The turbine also automatically faces into the wind without the need for sensors or positioning motors.

  • Patent number: 8747071
Abstract: A drain pump that maintains pump performance and reduces noise and vibration accompanying water scooping of a rotary impeller includes a large-diameter blade divided into an inner blade and an outer blade. A radius of an impeller scooping up water is the sum of the lengths of the inner and outer blades in a radial direction. The large-diameter blade is divided at a position where the amount of generated air bubbles is large, and the inner and outer blades are alternately disposed. Accordingly, air bubbles are escaped to a downstream side in a rotational direction, so that the intensity of the collision between the blades and air bubbles is decreased reducing noise caused by the burst of air bubbles and vibration caused by a collision load of the flow of a gas-liquid mixture.

In particular, hydraulic line pressure is controlled by operating an oil pump at maximum power if a starting demand for a hybrid vehicle is detected. Viscosity is calculated as well to correspond to an oil temperature in an engine stop mode and a rotation speed of the oil pump is controlled at a low power. Additionally, viscosity is also calculated according to a variation of a line pressure in a driving mode and the rotation speed of the electric oil pump is controlled in either a low power, a middle power, and a high power state as well.

Abstract: Fluid level in an aquarium or other container containing a fluid is managed using a mounted fluid level sensor that includes a heating element mounted to a heat conductive sensor housing and a temperature sensor mounted to the housing at a location spaced from the heating element. A controller collects temperature readings from the temperature sensor and operates a pump to add fluid to the container when temperature readings from the fluid level sensor housing exceed a threshold temperature for a prescribed period of time, representing a drop in fluid level in the container. The controller can include a pump control unit that controls operation of the pump and a microprocessor configured to receive temperature readings from the temperature sensor, control the temperature of the heating element, and control the pump control unit based on the temperature readings received from the temperature sensor.

Abstract: A small-sized, low-profile fluid pump having high pumping capabilities includes an actuator and a planar section including a metal plate. The actuator includes a disk-shaped piezoelectric element attached to a disk-shaped diaphragm. As a result of application of a square-wave or sine-wave drive voltage, the actuator performs a bending vibration from the central portion to the peripheral portion. The peripheral portion of the actuator is not restrained. The actuator performs a bending vibration in the state in which it is in proximity to the planar section while facing the planar section. A center vent is provided at or in an area adjacent to the center of an actuator facing area of the planar section that faces the actuator.
