  • Patent number: 8764219
Abstract: A light fixture having a “U”-shaped frame inside a sealed cylindrical housing. Mounted along the center of the face of the frame are one or more LED lamp panels, which include a number of LEDs, some of which may be powered by a back-up source such as an optionally supplied battery for emergency egress lighting. The lamp panels are mounted using a thermal interface material to promote heat transfer from the LED lamp panels to the frame, which in turn radiates the heat into the volume of the housing to enhance cooling. To each side of the LED lamp panels, a highly polished reflector is attached to the frame to focus and concentrate the light while simultaneously shielding the LEDs from heat radiated from the frame. Attached to the obverse side of the frame is a “U”-shaped back cover that forms an electrical enclosure. An optional diffuser may be supplied.

  • Patent number: 8764220
Abstract: A linear light emitting diode (“LED”) light fixture includes LED modules that interface with one another to provide a substantially continuous array of LED's. This continuous array allows for substantially uniform light output from the LED light fixture. The LED modules can interface with one another via one or more connectors, which allow two or more LED modules to be electrically and mechanically coupled together. The connectors may be disposed beneath the LED's so that the connectors are not visible when the LED modules are coupled together. The connectors may be disposed along opposite ends of the modules to allow for end-to-end configurations of the modules and/or along side ends of the modules to allow for angled or curved configurations of the modules. The LED modules can be powered via one or more wires, magnets, or clips, which are coupled to a power source.

  • Patent number: 8764224
Abstract: A wide beam angle (diffuse) luminaire with an efficient multi-source radiative emitter array. Embodiments of the luminaire utilize one or more LEDs disposed around a perimeter of a protective casing. The LEDs are angled to emit into an internal cavity defined by the inner surface of the casing. The placement of the LEDs around the perimeter of the device reduces self-blocking and facilitates heat transfer from the LEDs through the casing or another heat sink and into the ambient. Light impinges on the inner surface and is redirected as useful emission. A diffuse reflective coating may be deposited on the inner surface to mix the light before it is emitted.

  • Patent number: 8764258
Abstract: An inner lens for use in a vehicle light can be configured to sufficiently enhance aesthetic features, decorative features, unpredictable features, etc., without adversely affecting the formation of the main light distribution. The inner lens can include a main body portion having a main surface that faces towards the reflecting surface of the reflector, and a plurality of independent convex projections formed on the main surface of the main body portion at an area corresponding to the reflecting surface. The light emitted from the light source and that reaches the projections can enter the projections and the main body portion and then be reflected and/or refracted by the projections and the main body portion so as to be directed to a direction diagonally forward of the vehicle light as light that does not contribute to the formation of the main light distribution.

  • Patent number: 8764259
Abstract: A lighting assembly including a semiconductor light source, a support with a recess within which the semiconductor light source is positioned, and a collimator having light entry and light exit openings joined together by at least one side wall. The collimator is moveable relative to the support. The collimator is attached to the support such that the light entry opening of the collimator and the recess are joined in a nested manner so that light emitted by the semiconductor light source within the recess enters the collimator through the light entry opening and exits essentially only through the light exit opening of the collimator for any position of the collimator over its range of motion. The lighting assembly further includes an actuator for moving the collimator over at least part of its range of motion. An automotive headlamp arrangement includes the lighting assembly, a reflector element and a secondary optic.

  • Patent number: 8764260
Abstract: The present invention relates to a light-guiding cover and an illumination device having the same. The light-guiding cover, for guiding light beams emitted by at least one light-emitting diode (LED), has a light-guiding portion and a light output portion. The light-guiding portion has a light input surface for transmitting light beams thereto and a connecting surface. The light output portion formed on one end of the light-guiding portion has an optical surface adjoining the connecting surface. The light-guiding cover is substantially symmetrical and defines a central axis. The light beams received by the light-guiding portion are guided by the light input surface for light reflection from one side to another side of the optical surface across the central axis to exit from the light-output portion. Thus, the illumination device having the light-guiding cover can illuminate in an omni-directional manner.

  • Patent number: 8764262
Abstract: A film sheet having a series of strips extending from an edge may have the film strips gathered and folded into a stacked array wherein the strips are in parallel abutment. The collected ends of the stacked strips are then suitable for receiving light for transmission into (and emission from) the body of the film sheet. A pair of frame members, when urged toward each other about the strips, may automatically collect and fold the strips into a parallel spaced array. This array may then be gathered by hand, or by a cover member translating adjacent the frame members, to generate the stacked array of parallel abutting strips. The resulting illumination device is particularly useful for illumination of display panels such as liquid crystal displays, organic light-emitting diode displays, or simply signs formed of paper, plastic, and/or other materials.
