Publication number: 20140195177Abstract: Systems and methods of detecting arcing in a DC power system that can provide improved noise propagation immunity. The system includes at least two current sensors for monitoring at least two current outputs, respectively. The current sensors have reverse polarities, and are configured and arranged in parallel to provide a combined current output signal. The current sensors monitor the respective current outputs, which are provided for monitoring by the current sensors over at least two adjacent conductors. If arcing occurs at a location on a first conductor, then arcing (adjacent conductor crosstalk), having an arc current signature like that of the arcing on the first conductor, can occur at a location on the other adjacent conductor. The system can effectively cancel out such adjacent conductor crosstalk within a photovoltaic (PV) system, thereby improving the capability of an arc fault detection device for detecting arcing at the PV string level.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Inventors: Jianhong Kang, Christian V. Publication number: 20140195196Abstract: Disclosed are a chip performance monitoring system, method and a computer program product, wherein a performance monitor output signal is propagated through an adjacent scan chain to avoid signal degradation incident to across-chip transmission of high frequency signals. Since the clock signal frequency used to control signal propagation through the scan chain will typically be less than twice the performance monitor output signal frequency, frequency sub-sampling with aliasing occurs. To compensate, signal propagation through the scan chain can be controlled during different time periods using different clock signals having different clock signal frequencies and, during these different time periods, different data outputs can be captured at an output node of the scan chain. The data output frequencies of these different data outputs can be measured and the performance monitor output signal frequency can be determined based on the different data output frequencies given the different clock signal frequencies.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 9, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Margaret R. Publication number: 20140195201Abstract: In environments (such as acoustic and bioelectrical environments) characterized by multiple simultaneous sources, effective blind source separation from sensor response mixtures becomes difficult as the number of sources increases—especially when the true number of sources is both unknown and changing over time. Publication number: 20140195221Abstract: A semantic analyzer receives a segment of content, analyzes it utilizing semantic analysis, and outputs an indication regarding whether a value related to a predicted emotional response to the segment reaches a predetermined threshold. Based on the indication, a controller selects a measuring rate, from amongst at least first and second measuring rates, at which a device is to take measurements of affective response of a user to the segment. The first rate may be selected when the value does not reach the predetermined threshold, while the second mode may be selected when the value does reach it. The device takes significantly fewer measurements while operating at the first measuring rate, compared to number of measurements it takes while operating at the second measuring rate.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 27, 2014Publication date: July 10, 2014Inventors: Ari M. Publication number: 20140195225Abstract: In a DAC device, a distortion correction function g1(x) of a harmonic obtained from a result of a frequency analysis on an analog output signal of a DAC circuit is obtained. A correction value is determined based on the correction function g1(x) in accordance with an input digital signal, and is previously stored in a memory. A nonlinear correction circuit reads a corresponding correction value from the memory in accordance with the value of a digital signal output from a digital filter, and transmits the correction value to a subtractor. The subtractor subtracts the correction value from the digital signal output from the digital filter.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2014Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicant: PANASONIC CORPORATIONInventors: Toshihiro TORII, Yoshihiro HORII, Masashi UCHIDA, Junji NAKATSUKA, Takaaki SATO
