Abstract: A fuel control method for a gas turbine with a combustor being formed of at least two groups of a pluralities of main nozzles for supplying fuel, and that supplies fuel from the main nozzles of all groups upon ignition of the combustor (S1), and supplies fuel from three main nozzles of a group A during subsequent acceleration of the gas turbine (S3). Because fuel is injected from a small number of the main nozzles during acceleration, the fuel flow rate per one main nozzle is increased, thereby increasing the fuel-air ratio (fuel flow rate/air flow rate) in a combustion region and improving the combustion characteristics. Accordingly, the generation of carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbon is reduced, whereby no bypass valve is required and manufacturing costs are reduced.

Abstract: A method for running up a stationary gas turbine is provided. The turbine has a combustion chamber, the burners of which have a pilot burner and a main burner and by which various types of fuel are introduced into the combustion chamber for burning. The method, carried out while a rotor of the gas turbine is accelerating from a standstill to a nominal speed, includes feeding fuel of a first type of fuel to the pilot burners and feeding fuel of the first type of fuel to the main burners. In order to provide a method in which a comparatively low supply pressure is required in the fuel supply system and in which combustion vibrations that put the machine at risk are avoided during the running-up process, it is proposed that fuel of a second type of fuel is fed to the burner before the nominal speed is reached.

Abstract: The invention utilizes concentrated solar energy in a novel air conditioning system which includes storage capabilities. The refrigerant circuit “high” pressure side is comprised of multiple solar concentrators placed between two positive rotary valves. The “low” pressure side is compromised of the evaporator coil with expansion valve. The refrigerant is confined between the two rotary valves. As solar energy is absorbed into the refrigerant, the pressure and temperature rise. The two rotary valves are then caused to rotate. With rotation, the refrigerant is moved through the circuit. The circuit also includes a condenser to give up heat and an evaporator/expansion valve in which temperature drops with the expanding gas. In addition, this system places the evaporator in a water tank. The water is made cold by conduction with the evaporator and serves as a storage medium. All energy absorbed is converted to cold and stored and utilized as required.

Abstract: A jewelry stone cluster comprising four gemstone sections which are mounted in a setting and which are juxtaposed to each other. Each gemstone section includes a table facet and, in one form, a respective pair of adjacent cross facets, with the cross facets extending in planes that are at an angle to their respective table facet. Together, the four pairs of juxtaposed cross facets define an inscribed cross symbol. Preferably, the upper gemstone quadrant sections are smaller sized, so that the arms of the cross are located vertically higher. The overall shape of the gemstone cluster can be round, four sided, oval, marquis, pear, polygonal or any shape.

Abstract: A method for the production of a mirror element (10) that has a reflective coating (10a) for the EUV wavelength range and a substrate (10b). The substrate (10b) is pre-compacted by hot isostatic pressing, and the reflective coating (10a) is applied to the pre-compacted substrate (10b). In the method, either the pre-compacting of the substrate (10b) is performed until a saturation value of the compaction of the substrate (10b) by long-term EUV irradiation is reached, or, for further compaction, the pre-compacted substrate (10b) is irradiated, preferably homogeneously, with ions (16) and/or with electrons in a surface region (15) in which the coating (10a) has been or will be applied. A mirror element (10) for the EUV wavelength range associated with the method has a substrate (10b) pre-compacted by hot isostatic pressing. Such a mirror element (10) is suitable to be provided in an EUV projection exposure system.

Abstract: Managing pressure within a thickness-control-zone (muffle door) housing (20) relative to pressures in a glass-making machine enclosure (60) and an upper chamber (40)—that is disposed outside the enclosure—so as to minimize or control undesired airflows that would adversely affect thickness (9) of glass ribbon (8). According to one pressure-management technique, the pressure at a location (25) in the housing (20) is managed so as to be less than the pressure at a location (65) that is within the enclosure (60) as well as both outside and adjacent to the housing. In the event of a leak, as by a crack or unintended opening in the housing, for example, this pressure difference reduces or prevents airflow toward the ribbon and, thereby, undesired thickness variation in the ribbon. According to a second pressure-management technique, the pressure at location (25) is managed so as to be greater than the pressure in the upper chamber.

Abstract: Submerged combustion glass manufacturing systems include a melter having a floor, a roof, a wall structure connecting the floor and roof, and an exhaust passage through the roof. One or more submerged combustion burners are mounted in the floor and/or wall structure discharging combustion products under a level of material being melted in the melter and create turbulent conditions in the material. The melter exhausts through an exhaust structure connecting the exhaust passage with an exhaust stack. The exhaust structure includes a barrier defining an exhaust chamber having an interior surface, the exhaust chamber having a cross-sectional area greater than that of the exhaust stack but less than the melter. The barrier maintains temperature and pressure in the exhaust structure at values sufficient to substantially prevent condensation of exhaust material on the interior surface.

The receiving surface is elevated relative to a bottom of the dispenser and is positioned in view of an opening in the top of the dispenser. As fluid additives are drained or siphoned from the dispenser and off of the platform, the receiving surface will become visible through the opening even as some residual fluid additives may remain in the dispenser. The user is thereby provided with a more desirable appearance inside the dispenser with regard to e.g., residues or remains of fluid additives that would otherwise be visible.
