  • Patent number: 8850995
Abstract: A seed delivery system for use in a seeding or planting machine that removes the seed from a seed meter by capturing the seed therefrom. The delivery system then moves the seed down to a lower discharge point and accelerates the seed horizontally rearward to a speed approximately equal to the forward travel speed of the seeding machine such that the seed, when discharged has a low or zero horizontal velocity relative to the ground. Rolling of the seed in the trench is thus reduced. Furthermore, as the seed only has a short drop from the outlet to the bottom of the seed trench, the seed has little vertical speed to induce bounce. The delivery system uses a brush belt to capture, move and accelerate the seed. By capturing the seed and moving it from the meter to the discharge, the seed is held in place relative to other seeds and the planter row unit. As a result, the seeds are isolated from row unit dynamics thereby maintaining seed spacing.

  • Patent number: 8851011
Abstract: In a coating step, a substrate is rotated at a high speed, and in that state a resist solution is discharged from a first nozzle to a central portion of the substrate to apply the resist solution over the substrate. Subsequently, in a flattening step, the rotation of the substrate is decelerated and the substrate is rotated at a low speed to flatten the resist solution on the substrate. In this event, the discharge of the resist solution by the first nozzle in the coating step is performed until a middle of the flattening step, and when the discharge of the resist solution is finished in the flattening step, the first nozzle is moved to move a discharge position of the resist solution from the central portion of the substrate. According to the present invention, the resist solution can be applied uniformly within the substrate.

  • Patent number: 8851030
Abstract: The compression ratio of an internal combustion engine is adjustable in a stepwise fashion, such as by pivoting an extension of an eccentric connecting rod bearing. The projection extends into a chamber defined by a portion of a connecting rod coupling portion of a connecting rod assembly. Liquid is delivered to one side of the projection and removed from the opposite side of the projection to move the projection and thereby the eccentric connecting rod bearing from one position corresponding to one compression ratio to another position corresponding to another compression ratio.

  • Patent number: 8851032
Abstract: A variable-camshaft-timing mechanism is provided with a conically spiral spring valve as a check valve. When the conically spiral spring valve is opened, a plurality of flow passage clearances are formed between adjacent windings of the check valve, whereby a pressure loss of the working fluid can be reduced when passing through the check valve. When a reverse flow is generated, the check valve receives the reverse flow in its axial direction. Thus, the reverse flow of the working fluid can be utilized as a thrust force in a close direction of the check valve. A valve closing responsiveness of the check valve can be improved.

  • Patent number: 8851034
Abstract: A hydraulic camshaft phaser includes an outer rotor and an inner rotor rotationally adjustable and arranged concentrically about a common axis of rotation. At least one hydraulic chamber is formed between the outer rotor and the inner rotor, into which hydraulic chamber at least one connected vane extends from each of the outer rotor and the inner rotor, thereby dividing the hydraulic chamber into at least one pressure chamber pair formed by two pressure chambers. The inner rotor has a circular opening extending concentrically along the axis of rotation, a sealing portion being formed on the inner surface of the circular opening between two axial faces of the inner rotor, and the opening having a larger inner diameter on both sides of the sealing portion than in the sealing portion. The inner rotor is a sintered part, and the sealing portion of the inner rotor is calibrated.
