Abstract: In PCB manufacture, the pads and/or through-holes of a bare board are protected prior to mounting of other components by a silver plating process. The silver plate is applied from a plating composition by a replacement process in which silver ions oxidized copper and deposit a layer of silver at the surface. In the aqueous plating composition the silver ions are maintained in solution by the incorporation of a multidentate complexing agent. The compositions may contain a silver tarnish inhibitor and are free of reducing agent capable of reducing silver ions to silver metal, halide ions and substantially free of non-aqueous solvent. Surface mounted components can be soldered direct to the silver coated contact using any commercially available solder. Silver does not deposit onto solder mask, but only onto metal which is less electropositive than silver. Abstract: A segmented transformer coupled plasma (TCP) coil is provided as a source for generating a uniform plasma in a plasma reactor. The segmented TCP is divided into two or more segment coils which, when connected to an RF source, produces a circulating flow of electrons to cause a magnetic field in the plasma. Because the segmented TCP employs multiple segment coils, a plasma is generated that is more spatially uniform than the plasma produced by a monolithic coil. This is implemented using a power distributing component that allows the RF current to be distributed in the segment coils such that a uniform plasma density can be obtained in an area spanned by the coils. For instance, variable shunts, switchable shunts, and disconnect switches can be used to vary the RF currents in the individual coils.

Abstract: Dynamic furniture having platforms in dynamic attachment to an actuator assembly that in turn is in dynamic attachment to a base. Use of motional platforms supported by a motional actuator assembly permits an article of the furniture to conform to the many and varied body positions a user wants, and allows a user to more easily change body positions while remaining within the furniture, and in medical scenarios may obviate most needs to transfer a patient from one article of furniture to another.

Abstract: An image sensor system using offset analog to digital converters. The analog to digital converters require a plurality of clock cycles to carry out the actual conversion. These conversions are offset in time from one another, so that at each clock cycle, new data is available. A system includes a CMOS active pixel image sensor having an array for photoreceptors to convert an image into an analog signal. The CMOS image sensor converts the analog signal into a digital signal using a pipelined analog to digital converter.

Each pixel 10 has a first sub-pixel 10a and a second sub-pixel 10b which can apply mutually different voltages to their respective liquid crystal layers. Relationships ?V12 (gk)>0 volts and ?V12 (gk)??V12 (gk+1) are satisfied at least in a range 0<gk?n?1 if it is assumed that ?V12=V1?V2, where ?V12 is the difference between root-mean-square voltage V1 applied to the liquid crystal layer of the first sub-pixel 10a and root-mean-square voltage V2 applied to the liquid crystal layer of the second sub-pixel 10b.

Abstract: A system and method are used to form features on a substrate. The system and method include using a first array including individually controllable elements that selectively pattern a beam of radiation, a second array including sets of lenses and apertures stops that form an image from a respective one of the individually controllable elements in a first plane, a third array including lenses that form an image from a respective one of the second array in a second plane, and a substrate table that holds a substrate in the second plane, such that the substrate receives the image from the respective one of the second array. A same spacing is formed between elements in the first, second, and third arrays.

Abstract: The present invention is method and system for transmitting a signal in a wireless communication system. The present invention includes differentiating a data stream into at least a first layer data stream and a second layer data stream. At least the first layer data stream and the second layer data stream are then channel coded. Afterward, at least one of the channel coded first layer data stream and the channel coded second layer data stream is spread.

Abstract: An embedded MEMS semiconductor substrate is set forth and can be a starting material for subsequent semiconductor device processing. A MEMS device is formed in a semiconductor substrate, including at least one MEMS electrode and a buried silicon dioxide sacrificial layer has been applied for releasing the MEMS. A planarizing layer is applied over the substrate, MEMS device and MEMS electrode. A polysilicon protection layer is applied over the planarizing layer. A silicon nitride capping layer is applied over the polysilicon protection layer. A polsilicon seed layer is applied over the polysilicon nitride capping layer. The MEMS device is released by removing at least a portion of the buried silicon dioxide sacrificial layer and an epitaxial layer is grown over the polysilicon seed layer to be used for subsequent semiconductor wafer processing.

Abstract: A system may enable vehicle operators to request information automatically along the route of travel by transmitting information requests, tied to the vehicle's current position, to a server. The server may store a plurality of informational files associated with particular global positioning system coordinates. Upon receipt of a request, the files associated with a particular position may be located and transmitted to the vehicle. The files may be stored as audio files so the user may listen to the files without being distracted while driving the vehicle.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for the robust recognition of speech during a call in a noisy environment is presented. Specific background noise models are created to model various background noises which may interfere in the error free recognition of speech. These background noise models are then used to determine which noise characteristics a particular call has. Once a determination has been made of the background noise in any given call, speech recognition is carried out using the appropriate background noise model.

Abstract: This invention is a torso-body shaped frame vest-like garment that is designed to function as ballistic armor. This garment contains inserts comprised of unitary panels of pliable ballistic material capable of stopping bullets from most handguns. The use of a torso pattern sloper as a base structure for frame design allows this garment to be adapted for all types of wearable apparel besides vests such as jackets, coats, suits, shirts, etc., and allows for an increased range of movement and level of comfort. Unlike most other types of ballistic armor that is concealed by being worn under normal clothing this garment is designed to be used as outerwear that can complement casual, business, or other professional attire. Its function as fashionable, concealable, and comfortable ballistic armor is achieved by using design methods, sewing techniques, ornamental trim applications, and fabric applications common to high fashion casual and professional attire.

The compartment can be configured to selectively receive and store the glove. An attachment element can be configured to selectively secure the glove to the sleeve. The attachment element can have a first end attached to the sleeve and a second end attached to a fastener. The fastener can selectively fasten and unfasten the glove to the attachment element. Finally, a retractable dial can be coupled to the sleeve, wherein a portion of the attachment element travels through the retractable dial. The retractable dial can be configured to selectively retract at least a portion of the first end of the attachment element.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent insert for fitting against a forehead-contacting, curved inside surface of a user's athletic head covering includes a moisture wicking layer; a liquid absorbent core layer; a liquid impervious layer; an adhesive layer comprising a repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive; and a release liner layer. A top edge of the insert includes a plurality of slits to facilitate fitting of the insert onto the curved inside surface of the athletic head covering. A method of using a disposable absorbent insert on a forehead-contacting, curved inside surface of a user's athletic head covering is also described.

Abstract: A clothing support system is provided, which includes a clothing support article for providing support to a portion of a user's body. The clothing support article has front and rear panels of a substantially non-elastic fabric, for the support of a portion of the user's body. The front and rear panels are attached together by first and second side panels, which include a fabric of two-way elasticity which is stretchable between the front and rear panels. The clothing support system may further include a tension strap having a central support portion and two ends which are attachable to the front panel, to thereby provide enhanced support to a user's body. A method for providing support to a user's body is also provided, wherein tension is applied to the tension strap of the clothing support system.

Abstract: A waterless urinal for easy installation in bathroom and non bathroom areas of a residence. The waterless urinal includes a urinal housing with an integral drain assembly and removable door. The waterless urinal enables the discharge of urine without the need for flushing with water. A protective layer of specialized liquid is used to mask the urine in the urinal and prevent odors.

Abstract: A portable toilet system is provided having an enclosed housing and including a tank upon which a toilet seat and bowl is positioned. The tank has two sections divided by a wall. Waste drops into the first section where it is accumulated for collection. The dividing wall does not extend to the top of the tank. The second section is initially filled with fresh water. A pump draws water through a hose or pipe submersed in the second section. That water is flushed into the toilet bowl to rinse waste into the first section. As the water in the second section is depleted, the liquid waste deposited in the first section overflows the dividing wall into the second section of the tank to recycle the liquid waste and extend the period before servicing of the system is necessary.

Abstract: An assembly for initiating flushing of a toilet includes a handle and a bushing. The handle includes an axially extending stem that defines an axis of rotation. The bushing is configured to rotatably couple the handle to a tank of the toilet and includes a passage with the stem of the handle received therein. The handle defines two or more annular handle surfaces that are configured to cooperatively engage two or more annular bushing surfaces for rotation of the handle relative to the bushing about the axis.

Abstract: Disclosed is a toilet bowl water level gauge and associated methods. In one embodiment, the toilet bowl water level gauge comprises a gauge assembly having a stem with a float, and a sleeve, wherein the stem is inserted in the sleeve and slides through the sleeve. Also, the toilet bowl water level gauge comprises a support attached to the gauge assembly, the support being adapted to engage a rim of a toilet bowl. In addition, bowl level sensors are employed for automated calibration of an automated bowl fill system.

Abstract: A water discharge device generates a large air bubble having a cross sectional area larger than a channel sectional area of a jetting port when the inside of a water storage chamber is viewed from the jetting port. The water discharge device intermittently forms the large air bubble to change a flow speed of a jet flow.

Abstract: A perineal spray attachment for use with a conventional toilet seat and which is specifically designed to be mounted to the underside of the seat for manipulation by either right or left hand. The attachment includes a discharge nozzle mounted at an end of an arcuately shaped conduit that is rigidly secured to a combination control valve and handle that is used to move the nozzle from a non-deployed position immediately beneath a portion of the toilet seat to a deployed position generally centrally of the opening in the toilet sear. The attachment also includes an inline venturi injector for entraining cleansing and other topical agents into the fluid flow through the discharge nozzle. The handle incorporates a valve for controlling liquid flow to the nozzle and which valve is actuated by an individual's thumb after the nozzle has been manipulated to the deployed position.

An opening is provided on the side wall for inserting a mattress into the compartment. The expandable means may be adjusted to fit mattresses of different thicknesses inside the expandable mattress cover. A fastening means with a hook is adjusted to open the opening before inserting a mattress into the compartment. The mattress is secured in position by adjusting the fastening means to a closed position. The hook is used to clip the expandable means and the fastening means onto the side wall.
