Abstract: Disclosed herein are ballistic resistant articles comprising one or more woven fabric layers woven from yarns having a tenacity of at least 7.3 grams per dtex and a modulus of at least 100 grams per dtex and one or more sheet layers comprising a carbon nanotube-polymer composite, the composite comprising randomly oriented carbon nanotubes embedded in a condensation polymer.

Abstract: A face protector for protecting a welder's eyes and face includes an auto-darkening welding filter (ADF) unit that, in turn, includes a filter pane or ADF pane and an electronics unit driving the ADF pane. The electronics unit is configured to switch the ADF pane automatically from a transparent state to a darkened state when a welding operation takes place. A hard shell unit includes a shell carrying the ADF unit with the ADF and being shaped to protect a wearer's face, the shell being made from a plastic material A soft shell unit includes a cap for protecting the crown of the wearer's head and a neck protector for protecting the wearer's neck. The soft shell unit is made of flexible fabric with support elements.

Abstract: A protective digit shield for a protective sports glove, the shield having a hard chassis portion and an energy absorbing portion forming a hinge. The chassis portion provides an arcuate channel in which the thumb/digit is received. The chassis is segmented along the longitudinal axis to provide a proximal portion and a distal portion corresponding generally with the proximal and distal phalanx bones of the thumb/digit. A resilient, energy absorbing element along the channel provides separation between the chassis and forms a living hinge such that the chassis can rotate. The energy absorbing element may also include a damping element along opposing edges at the segmented joint to absorb and dissipate forces and prevent hyperextension. In an alternate embodiment, the energy absorbing element is replaced with a connection cable for connecting the portions of the chassis.

Abstract: A leg pad for a hockey goalkeeper playing hockey (e.g., ice hockey) is provided. The leg pad comprises a frontal portion, a medial portion, and a lateral portion respectively configured to be positioned adjacent to a front, a medial side, and a lateral side of a goalkeeper's leg when the leg pad is worn on the leg. The leg pad comprises an outer shell comprising an outer surface of the leg pad, an inner liner for facing the leg, and protective padding disposed between the molded outer shell and the inner liner. The outer shell may comprise molded foam.

Abstract: A gel cushion, such as may be incorporated in a knee pad or other body-worn pad, that avoids undue accumulation of heat within the cushion, and that provides a stable and comfortable resting surface for at least a portion of a user's body. The cushion may further provide decreasing incremental compression in response to incrementally increasing loads, whereby users of different weights may be comfortably supported thereon.

Abstract: The present invention is a napkin or bib that protects clothing of the user. The napkin or bib has an adhesive that holds the napkin or bib in position when the user's torso is in a generally vertical position. The adhesive is present on one side of the napkin or bib, but the adhesive is not covered by release tabs that must be removed from the napkin and disposed of prior to use.

A first tubing network is integrated into a left segment of the upper body garment and is situated to the left of the vertical axis. A second tubing segment is integrated into a right segment of the upper body garment and situated to the right of the vertical axis. The first tubing network is in fluid communication with the second tubing network at a single location crossing the vertical axis. The first tubing network is in operative communication with the central forced air supply so as to distribute air throughout the first and second tubing networks.

Abstract: Certain aspects and features of the present disclosure relate to garments, such as socks, that incorporate one or more three-dimensional designs, such as three-dimensional anaglyphs. A design is incorporated into the garment through knitting, sewing, printing, or other suitable methods. The garment can be provided as a kit that includes any suitable eyewear necessary for discerning the design.

Abstract: A garment assembly includes a plurality of garments that utilize oversized fasteners, such as large buttons and tie-strings, to join each garment together for adorning and disrobing, and also to reveal sections of the body for examination. In this manner, the entire garment may not have to be disrobed to examine a specific area of the body. The garment assembly includes a front garment and a back garment that join by strategically-positioned buttons and ties. The buttons and tie-strings align across from each other on the front garment and the rear garment. The buttons and ties detach in proximity to areas of the body to reveal a specific body part, including, a breast, a leg, an arm, a shoulder, and a back. The garment assembly allows for faster and easier physical access to a medical patient, while improving the patient's privacy.

Abstract: A sports glove rapid removal system wherein all five adjacent finger sheaths are encircled by independent loops of the size and location to be convenient for four fingers of the opposite hand to grasp and to pull to remove the glove. The system is designed to apply removal force comprehensively to the glove rather than to individual parts of the glove. Specifically, the pulling force exerted by the four fingers of the opposite hand is directed by the loop system to the entire body of the glove, rather than just the finger sheaths, resulting in the force being distributed as necessary to ease removal of the glove. A particular characteristic of the system is its utilization of four removal loops simultaneously, including the thumb and index finger loop, to align the thumb with the other fingers, and thereby reduce the gathering of glove fabric that can cause resistance at the thumb and other finger joints.

Abstract: A method of making a glove includes placing a flexible material into a contoured mold, direct molding a resilient material (e.g., a thermoplastic elastomer) onto the flexible material while the flexible material is in the contoured mold, and securing the flexible material to other materials to create a glove. The resilient material can be applied in liquid form and at least partially solidified while in contact with the flexible material. Direct molding can include forming the resilient material into an anatomical shape and forming perforations in the resilient material. The method can be used to create a cycling glove including a palm panel having a flexible material, a resilient material formed into an anatomical shape and co-molded to the palm panel, and a back panel secured to the palm panel. The glove can further include a facing material attached to the flexible material with the resilient material sandwiched in between.

Abstract: A novel ultrasonic oscillation-induced sericin extraction method produces a high-molecular-weight sericin solution from silk cocoon threads at room temperature. In one embodiment, unique pH variation-resistant alkaline ionic water is produced from a novel strongly-alkaline ionic water generator device, wherein the unique pH variation-resistant alkaline ionic water is subsequently utilized as a beneficial solvent that contributes to the feasibility of the novel ultrasonic oscillation-induced sericin extraction method at room temperature. The high-molecular-weight sericin solution produced and coated in a glove provides a high coating adhesion for economical manufacturing of sericin-coated gloves, while also providing superb skin moisturizing and protection properties.

Abstract: A moisture absorbent headband device is provided comprising a highly absorbent inner layer and a fabric outer shell layer. The absorbent inner layer is adapted to absorb moisture while the outer shell layer comprises a water permeable material that forms a continuous, closed loop structure having an enclosed interior volume supporting the absorbent inner layer therein. The outer shell layer is an elastic material adapted to be worn around the head of a wearer, generally a young child, whereby the inner layer absorbs water and soap in contact therewith to prevent the same from entering the wearer's face and eyes. The inner layer is a substantially rectangular cuboid shape having a thickness, length, and height, whereby the length thereof is adapted to extend sufficiently around the closed loop of the outer shell layer such that the inner layer rests above the ears and across the wearer's forehead when donned.

A baseball cap includes a dome shaped crown of compound curves and a forward facing sun visor brim portion, a transparent window in a central front face portion of the dome shaped crown, where the window displays a single indicium selectable from a number of different indicia carried on a display surface conformable to said dome shaped crown. The selected indicium is displayed centered above the brim. The display surface conforms to the curved interior of the dome shaped crown, wherein the baseball cap does not deviate substantially from the look of a typical baseball cap with a single permanent indicium.

Abstract: A pair of control top pantyhose includes a panty portion connected to two leg portions. The panty portion is made of a reinforced segment and a non-reinforced segment integrally knitted together. The reinforced segment encircles the body of a wearer and substantially covers the abdomen. The non-reinforced segment covers the crotch of the wearer.

Abstract: A sleeve saver apparatus that is an elastomeric attachment for use with a cuff on a button-cuffed shirt and any apparel closure using a button/buttonhole closure. More particularly, the invention is directed toward modifying a traditional button-cuffed shirt so that the cuff has some elasticity to facilitate movement of the sleeve and securing it in a desired position, and lending elasticity to other apparel using button/buttonhole closures.

Abstract: A sleeve saver apparatus that is an elastomeric attachment for use with a cuff on a button-cuffed shirt and any apparel closure using a button/buttonhole closure. More particularly, the invention is directed toward modifying a traditional button-cuffed shirt so that the cuff has some elasticity to facilitate movement of the sleeve and securing it in a desired position, and lending elasticity to other apparel using button/buttonhole closures.

Abstract: A sleeve accessory includes a sleeve and a fastening system for attaching the sleeve to a shoulder strap of another clothing item. The sleeve accessory is preferably removable and replaceable, and enables a user to adapt to changing environments or social situations by attaching or detaching the sleeve accessories as desired. Sleeve accessories may be provided in a variety of designs, colors, or patterns, to permit coordination with other clothing, or to permit mixing and matching of colors and patterns to increase the versatility of a wardrobe. In some examples, the sleeve accessory may include a decorative pattern, a logo, or other distinctive markings.

Abstract: This invention relates to the method, apparatus and garment technique for attaching neckwear apparel together with magnets at the collar area while leaving the top shirt button unbuttoned. The invention will feature pieces of fabric portions to make up a whole garment. There are many origami folding techniques and shown will not be limited to the single example illustrated but encompass all origami sculptural combinations of fabrics and other materials that are made from both natural and synthetic fibers. For purposes of this invention, shown will be a typical garment made from fabric and will be cut into 8?×8? portioned squares or 13?×13? squares for the larger garment styles. The portions will be bound together, and have between a 5 to 15 folding step processes to make the ornamental garment piece. All the sculptural forms and magnetic attachments created are the invention as a whole.

Abstract: A composite multi-axial impact protection liner for a helmet is provided that reduces rotational acceleration, rotational strain rate, and rotational strain that cause concussions. In a protective helmet so equipped, one or more layers of fluid polymer, including strain thinning and strain thickening polymers, are positioned between the wearer's head and a hard helmet shell. The liner offers greater injury protection, performance, and personal comfort using the rate dependent and combined effect of strain thinning and strain thickening of fluid polymer layers.

Abstract: Some embodiments described herein relate to an athletic helmet. The athletic helmet can include a shell, a suspension chassis, and several impact-absorbing pads. The suspension chassis can be disposed within the shell and configured to couple the pads to the shell. Each pad can include a membrane defining an interior volume. A valve can place the interior volume in fluid communication with the exterior of the membrane. In some embodiments, two or more structural members can be disposed within the interior volume. One structural member can be at least partially deformed when the athletic helmet is worn by a user.

Abstract: A protective helmet including a chin cup with a body and two opposed connecting arms, each connecting arm being connected to the helmet body through a connection allowing relative movement between the connecting arm and the helmet body. A fastening system is selectively movable between a first position where the fastening system restrains the relative movement between the connecting arm and the helmet body and a second position where the fastening system frees the relative movement between the connecting arm and the helmet body along the connection. A method of adjusting a position of a chin cup in a protective helmet is also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a protective sports helmet that includes a chin strap system that allows for rapid, one-handed adjustment of a chin strap assembly by the player while he/she is wearing the helmet. The chin strap assembly includes a protective chin cup and a pair of straps extending from opposed sides of the chin cup and having a plurality of securing elements. The assembly also includes a pair of adjustable connectors affixed to the helmet and that include a central opening that receives an extent of the strap and a lever that engages a portion of the securing elements. The adjustable connector allows movement of the strap in a first direction, and prevents movement of the strap in a second direction when the lever is engaged with at least one of the securing elements. The adjustable connector allows movement of the strap in both the first and second directions when the lever is not engaged with the securing elements.

Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to a dorsal wear-pad having an external, low-friction, high-wear-resistance surface, the dorsal wear-pad configured to be releasably coupled to a D-ring connection region of a fall-protection safety harness. In various embodiments, the dorsal wear-pad may project out and away from a wearer so as to prevent the D-ring from contacting a wall surface. For example, the dorsal wear-pad may have a D-ring aperture through which the D-ring may project. In some embodiments, the dorsal wear-pad may have a back shield to prevent a snap-hook connected to the D-ring from contacting a wearer's back. An exemplary embodiment may have two prominences, one on either side of the D-ring. Some exemplary dorsal wear-pads may advantageously protect both a wearer and the wearer's harness during sliding or leaning engagements with vertical surfaces.

Abstract: A drain cover assembly is disclosed. The drain cover assembly includes a drain cover having a top portion and a bottom portion that has an outer threading and a plurality of openings. The drain cover assembly further includes a cylindrical or frustoconical basket having a rigid structure. The basket is configured to be completely immersed in a drainage pipe. The basket includes a top portion that is configured to be threadably coupled to the bottom portion of the drain cover. The basket further includes a bottom portion configured to allow liquid to seep through but not solid material.

Abstract: Flushable urinary device for directing urine into a toilet from a standing user comprises a flushable funnel. The funnel helps prevent urine-splatter on and around the toilet and improves hygiene. The user holds the funnel at his or her urethra and directs urine into the toilet. Then, the user drops the used funnel into the toilet and flushes the toilet. The funnel, made of flushable and bio-degradable material, disintegrates in the sewer system. The material is configured to retain its substantial strength and shape temporarily when wetted. The funnel has tail or lip adjacent one of its ends to help hold the funnel. The funnel may be of different suitable shapes, sizes and materials. An apparatus, placed on water tank of a toilet, contains a supply of the funnels for users. The apparatus also stores extra flushable funnels and toilet paper rolls.

Abstract: A water conservation device for use within a toilet is disclosed. In at least one embodiment, the device includes a connector having a base adapted for connectivity and placement adjacent to a traditional pole assembly and proximate to an opening valve within a tank of the toilet. In at least one embodiment, the device includes a flexible pressure arm integrally formed with the connector base and adapted to couple to the opening valve within the tank of the toilet and adapted to provide a pressure to the opening valve to lessen overall water utilized in each flush of the toilet and thereby conserve water. The water conservation device is adapted for either a total or partial flush of the toilet as selected by a user.

Abstract: A flushometer toilet is used in a bathroom that has access to only a small diameter water supply pipe that usually would be useful only with a gravity toilet. A water storage apparatus (60) is provided that includes large diameter pipes (of 1.5 inches diameter) lying close to the flushometer valve (44) so at the beginning of a flushing, a large volume of water is available at a pressure of at least 30 psi.

Abstract: A toilet system including a bowl and a tank configured to hold water and air and deliver water to the bowl. The tank includes a water inlet and outlet. A valve moves between an open position and a closed position, and the valve closes the outlet when the valve is in the closed position. The system includes a lever positioned to engage the valve and a plunger that is configured to engage the lever. The tank includes a container that holds water and pressurized air above the water. The container is positioned such that the water and pressurized air in the container apply a force to the lever through the plunger which causes the lever to move the valve from the closed position toward the open position in order that water can flush and refill the toilet bowl and air can flow into the tank and container.

Abstract: A backflow inhibitor has a jet nozzle connectable to a flow entrance and has a capture part which captures the liquid jet that passes over a free jet path from the jet nozzle. The capture part is connectable or connected to a flow exit and to an outlet arranged below the free jet path. The outlet discharges a partial amount of liquid not captured by the capture part. The backflow inhibitor includes an insert cartridge which carries the jet nozzle and the capture part. In use, the insert cartridge is held such that the jet nozzle is connected to the flow entrance and the capture part is connected to the flow exit. The insert cartridge, in the cartridge section which is arranged between jet nozzle and capture part and which forms or delimits the free jet path, has at least one cartridge opening that can be connected to the outlet.

Abstract: A metal crib bedstead includes a pair of symmetrical widthwise frames, a pair of symmetrical longitudinal frames, a mattress support frame and four elongated anchor planks. The widthwise frames and the longitudinal frames are made of metal and coupled together by wedging and welding. The mattress support frame includes an outer frame, a mesh frame and a plurality of springs connecting the mesh frame to the outer frame to evenly hold a mattress on the mattress support frame. The elongated anchor planks connect to the widthwise frame and the mattress support frame, and four anchor struts are fastened on the outer frame respectively near the lower ends of the elongated anchor planks for the anchor planks to rest without swaying. Hence the mattress support frame with different sizes can be coupled with the widthwise frames and the longitudinal frames. Assembly can be done quickly with enhanced strength.

Methods of controlling a surface temperature of a support cushion are also provided.

Abstract: A fitted blanket fits over the mattress and secures underneath to prevent the blanket from moving off the user while sleeping in bed. The blanket can include an elastic material on at least the underside corner edges thereof to help secure the blanket to the mattress. The fitted blanket includes an opening to allow for easy entry and exit, rather than having to untuck the blanket. The opening may also provide an easy way to make the bed. The opening may simply be designed like a cut in the blanket and may or may not include closing mechanisms. The fitted nature of the blanket prevents blanket slippage or movement. The blanket may further include a cut-out region or an opening along at least a portion of the head end for pillow placement. The blanket can also include glow-in-the-dark elements or illuminated elements to light up the blanket at night.

Abstract: A method for washing of the present invention, comprises: a turbo wash setting step of setting turbo wash for spraying water into a drum through a spiral nozzle, when laundry rotates while being attached to the drum by a rotation of the drum; a continuous water supply step of supplying water into a tub; and a regular washing step of canceling the turbo wash when a time taken for a water level inside the tub to reach a target level is longer than a target time so that the water is not sprayed through the spiral nozzle when the laundry rotates while being attached to the drum by the rotation of the drum.
