Abstract: The present application is directed to systems and methods for print alignment by a continuous feed printer. A sensor of a printer detects a first line of a pattern on a non-printing side of a printing medium, the pattern comprising two non-parallel lines separated by a predetermined distance at a predetermined position of the printing medium. The printer advances the printing medium a first distance, and the sensor detects a second line of the pattern. The printer identifies a horizontal offset of the printing medium from an expected location of the predetermined position proportional to the difference between the first distance and the predetermined distance.

Abstract: A gun firing method whereby 4 projectile segments that are contained in a cartridge case are fired simultaneously which creates a predetermined square pattern on a target to increase the hit probability of the dispersion. In the primary embodiment of the invention two sets of side by side projectile segments that are contained in the cartridge case are fired by a gun, spin around their fore and aft axis, and provide a powerful square salvo. The dispersion produces a substantial increase in the hit probability when compared to a single shot.

Abstract: A ballast system and method use a situational adaptive approach to measure, control and monitor the level of liquid in an onboard ballast tank. A baseline level of liquid in the tank, established while the watercraft is static, is stored in memory associated with a controller. While the watercraft is moving, the controller monitors pump conditions, e.g., run time, flow, vacuum, etc., and extrapolates the amount of water added to or drained from the tank. The baseline level and extrapolated added/drained amount are added to accurately determine the true liquid level in the tank. That information is displayed to the watercraft operator. The system can automatically adjust watercraft attitude by adding/draining water from the ballast tank based on preset values to provide a desired wake. The system can display ballast levels in volume, percentage of full, and weight; and can provide estimated times to achieve preset levels, empty or full.

Abstract: A hollow pet toy containing an interior compartment is described. The toy's interior compartment is accessed through an opening in the exterior fabric of the toy. The purpose of the interior compartment is to hide a treat, examples of which may be a smaller toy or a food-treat. The interior compartment may also contain stuffing in the form of fabric strips, flags, or sleeves, which, in some examples of the invention, are fixed at one end to the interior compartment but which may otherwise be removed from the interior compartment by the pet seeking to discover the treat. Some examples of the invention feature an additional “treat compartment” within the fabric strips, flags, sleeves, or other stuffing of the interior compartment. A treat is placed in one or more of these “treat compartments” for the pet to discover and enjoy.

The collar has a drawstring around its inner periphery and radial reinforcing stays for stiffening the collar and also has a post-treatment instructions panel composed of special writing material, such as the non-woven plastic Tyvek, for receiving hand-written instructions in permanent or durable ink for the continuing care and recovery of the animal experiencing professional injury, surgery, dental or grooming procedures. The special writing material is different in appearance from the protective material and occupies either a full segment of the collar or a substantial portion of one segment, preferably on the back side with the front side covered by a stain resistant coating or sheet.

Abstract: In a cogeneration system that stores hot water heated by exhaust heat of a generator in a hot water storage tank, a situation in which there is a risk of freezing of water in a water circulating passage is accurately grasped, and thus anti-freezing control prevents the freezing from occurring and unnecessary anti-freezing control is reduced to suppress the drop in efficiency of the system. When determined that an environmental temperature Ta is lower than a lower-limit value Ta_min, it is determined whether or not a temperature difference ?T (=Tr1?Tr2) between a radiator inlet temperature Tr1 and a radiator outlet temperature Tr2 exceeds a predetermined value ?T0, and when determined that the temperature difference exceeds the predetermined value ?T0, it is determined that there is a risk of freezing of the water in the water circulating passage and an command to execute the anti-freezing control is output.
