Abstract: The present application is directed to systems and methods for print alignment by a continuous feed printer. A sensor of a printer detects a first line of a pattern on a non-printing side of a printing medium, the pattern comprising two non-parallel lines separated by a predetermined distance at a predetermined position of the printing medium. The printer advances the printing medium a first distance, and the sensor detects a second line of the pattern. The printer identifies a horizontal offset of the printing medium from an expected location of the predetermined position proportional to the difference between the first distance and the predetermined distance.

Abstract: A cartridge (10) is provided having a receptacle (12) with propellant (14) therein and an open end with a stemming device (16) secured to the open end to form a substantially closed container. The stemming device (16) is operable to result in radial expansion thereof and has a static member (18) secured to the receptacle (12) and a piston (20) movable, at least partially within the container, relative to the static member (18) and the receptacle (12). The cartridge is configured such that ignition of the propellant (14) causes movement of the piston (20) to operate the stemming device (16) and cause radial expansion thereof before the receptacle (12) ruptures.

Abstract: A gun firing method whereby 4 projectile segments that are contained in a cartridge case are fired simultaneously which creates a predetermined square pattern on a target to increase the hit probability of the dispersion. In the primary embodiment of the invention two sets of side by side projectile segments that are contained in the cartridge case are fired by a gun, spin around their fore and aft axis, and provide a powerful square salvo. The dispersion produces a substantial increase in the hit probability when compared to a single shot.

Abstract: A railway nipper machine is provided that includes a nipper frame having a pair of nipper hooks for performing a nipping operation, and a position feedback device having a central control module configured for controlling the nipping operation based on a depth signal and a time signal. Further included in the nipper machine is a depth sensor connected to the position feedback device for generating the depth signal relative to a nipper actuator connected to the nipper frame, wherein the depth sensor transmits the depth signal to the position feedback device. A timer is provided for generating the time signal, and the nipper machine is actuated by the nipper actuator in response to a determination value generated by the position feedback device based on the depth signal and the time signal.

Abstract: A railcar mover is provided that is configured for use on a railroad track and has a frame, a plurality of traction wheels, and a traction enhancing system. Included in the traction enhancing system is an air nozzle associated with at least one of the traction wheels, mounted directly or indirectly relative to the frame so that an outlet of the air nozzle is directed at a corresponding rail of the railroad track for emitting high pressure air for removing at least one of unwanted debris and moisture. In addition, a scraper blade is associated with the nozzle and mounted relative to the nozzle so that the scraper blade contacts debris on the track before the high pressure air, in a direction of travel of the mover.

Abstract: A system for determining locomotive position in a consist including a first locomotive, a second locomotive, and one or more additional locomotives has a processor configured to determine first measurements taken starting from the first locomotive and capable of quantifying distances between the first locomotive and the second locomotive and the first locomotive and the one or more additional locomotives. The processor is also configured to determine second measurements taken starting from the second locomotive and capable of quantifying distances between the second locomotive and the first locomotive and the second locomotive and the one or more additional locomotives. The processor is further configured to combine the first measurements and the second measurements into a combined data set and, determine a locomotive consist order based on the combined data set.

Abstract: The invention relates to corrosion inhibitors, and more specifically corrosion inhibitors for coating compositions. The invention provides for coating compositions that have improved corrosion properties, including reduced flash rust during the application of the coating composition to a metal surface, and even improved corrosion inhibition in the resulting dried coating. The invention also provides for methods of making and using the described the compositions and the corrosion inhibitors thereof.

Abstract: An ink jet printing system comprises an ink reservoir, an ink passageway, an inkjet nozzle, and a plurality of magnetic elements that are located adjacent at least one of the ink reservoir and the ink passageway. The at least one of the ink reservoir and the ink passageway further includes having micro-magnetic particles located therein. The magnetic particles may have a particle size from about 500 nm to about 50 microns. The ink reservoir and ink passageway further contain ink composition comprising pigment colorant. The plurality of magnetic elements provide a magnetic field to be applied to the micro-magnetic particles which results in a chaotic motion of the magnetic particles in the ink mixture.

The mixture is arranged in a mold and heated in a furnace. The resulting product is released from the mold after cooling. The resulting product constitutes a finished or semi-finished product. Inserts can be arranged in the mixture as needed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to colorful regenerated asphalt-concrete and to a method for manufacturing same. More particularly, disclosed are colorful regenerated asphalt-concrete using recycled aggregates from waste asphalt and to a method for manufacturing same, in which products obtained from the thermal decomposition of waste asphalt are mixed with new aggregates and asphalt, and a pigment and an ultraviolet-ray blocker are mixed into the mixture, to thereby not only improve the physical properties of the regenerated asphalt concrete, but also maintain the color of the regenerated asphalt concrete over a long period of time, thus achieving improved weather resistance and durability.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for manufacturing cement clinker with waste concrete as a blending material, comprising the steps of: i) crushing waste concrete into granules with particle size less than or equal to 40 mm; ii) adding the granules obtained in step i) to a cement production plant and mixing the granules with clinker in said production plant, wherein said granules are activated by the residual heat of said clinker, and then mixed with said clinker to directly serve as a blending material, and thus said cement clinker is manufactured. The present disclosure further relates to a cement comprising the cement clinker manufactured by said method.

The method includes the steps of receiving cement kiln dust (CKD) from a kiln; heating the collected CKD; forming a gas stream of vaporized metal and CKD by sufficient heating to separate at least one heavy metal from the collected CKD stream to create a cleaned CKD stream and a metal stream; providing a water soluble alkaline-earth metal polysulfide; combining the heavy metal stream with the water soluble alkaline-earth metal sulfide to create a combined stream; and removing at least a portion of one heavy metal from the combined stream.

Abstract: A tiltable support apparatus (tilt device) for variably adjusting the height of any one of the four sides of a portable table that is optionally with an electronic device or as a pilot's kneeboard. The tilt mechanism is a flat, flexible layer that can be rolled into a rolled elevating device. An attachment system releasably attaches the tilt mechanism to the adjacent structures such as parts of the table, of an electronic device case, or of a thigh/lap attachment for a kneeboard. The attachment system further allows for attachment with variable increments of tilt possible. In one embodiment, the tiltable support apparatus is a multilayer device containing the flat, flexible layer as a middle layer securely but reversibly attached to upper and lower layers of a case. The case is easily insertable under an object to be tilted and easily stored when not in use.

Abstract: A modular conference table allows meeting participants and office staff to quickly and effectively change the length of the conference table as the needs of the meeting participants change. The present invention includes a tabletop assembly including a first end-top, a second end-top, and a modular insert top. Additionally, modular conference table includes a leg assembly upholding the tabletop assembly. The legs assembly includes two terminal supports and center supports. The modular conference table can be expanded in order to accommodate the needs of the user by adding an additional number of modular insert tops, modesty panels, and center supports. Thus, the invention allows attendees of meetings and office staff to adjust the size of a conference table according to the size of the space or the needs of the user.

Abstract: The present invention relates to burners and boiler structures of heating systems which work with solid fuel or which work especially with wood pellets, olive stones and other similar propellants. The burner has a “C”-shaped grate structure comprising a grate mount (4.2) for opening and closing an ash discharging mouth, and the top grate made up by the following components: Grate arms (4.1.2) that can move at a horizontal angle over connecting grate shafts (4.1.3) independent from each other; grate shims (4.1.4) located on the grate shafts (4.1.3) and between the grate arms (4.1.2); a shank (4.1.5) connecting the grate arms (4.1.2) to a grate frame (4.1.1), and the top grate to the grate mount (4.2), thus enabling the top grate to move in an upwards or downwards motion limited by supports (4.1.7, 4.1.8). Furthermore, the burner comprises uneven rails on which the top grate moves guided by guide pins (4.1.6).

The additive(s) include iron, mineralizer(s), handling aid(s), flow aid(s), and/or abrasive material(s). The iron and mineralizers can lower the melting temperature of ash in low-iron, high alkali coals, leading to improved furnace performance.

Abstract: A biomass-mixed, pulverized coal-fired burner is provided, capable of burning biomass fuel as auxiliary fuel in large quantities and burning only pulverized coal when the biomass fuel is not sufficiently available. The biomass-mixed, pulverized coal-fired burner includes a biomass fuel jet nozzle that extends axially along the biomass-mixed, pulverized coal-fired burner, a fuel jet nozzle that is open midway in the biomass fuel jet nozzle, a secondary air nozzle that surrounds the fuel jet nozzle, and a tertiary air nozzle that surrounds the secondary air nozzle. A pulverized coal component in a fuel stream as a mixture of the pulverized coal fuel stream and the biomass fuel stream is distributed with a higher concentration on an outer circumferential wall side and a biomass fuel component in the fuel stream is distributed inside of the pulverized coal fuel component.

Abstract: A sewing line table having integrated power and air supply lines is useful for industrial and commercial sewing lines. A single drop-down conduit can provide a single power connection to deliver power to multiple power outlets disposed inside the table along its length. An air connection nozzle can provide a single air connection to deliver air to multiple locations along the length of the table. The interior of the table can be covered with a top cover, side sheathing and front/back sheathing. The stand-alone sewing line table can be used to increase efficiency and productivity in an industrial or commercial sewing line. The table can also be used in other industries that may require electrical and airline access along a line, such as food processing, or the like.

Abstract: The problem of penetrating through nets and other objects is solved by cutting the object using a linear cutting assembly having a linear cutter arm that moves in an arc and pivots about an attachment point. The object is cut by a severing action caused by a moveable blade of the linear cutting arm moving back and forth across a stationary blade of the linear cutter arm. An underwater vehicle modified to incorporate an embodiment of the linear cutting assembly can cut a sufficiently large opening in the object to allow the vehicle to pass through.

Abstract: A ballast system and method use a situational adaptive approach to measure, control and monitor the level of liquid in an onboard ballast tank. A baseline level of liquid in the tank, established while the watercraft is static, is stored in memory associated with a controller. While the watercraft is moving, the controller monitors pump conditions, e.g., run time, flow, vacuum, etc., and extrapolates the amount of water added to or drained from the tank. The baseline level and extrapolated added/drained amount are added to accurately determine the true liquid level in the tank. That information is displayed to the watercraft operator. The system can automatically adjust watercraft attitude by adding/draining water from the ballast tank based on preset values to provide a desired wake. The system can display ballast levels in volume, percentage of full, and weight; and can provide estimated times to achieve preset levels, empty or full.

A frame is attached to the container wall adjacent to the aperture. A plunger is engaged with the frame, and moves between an extended position, where the plunger extends through the aperture and into the interior of the container, and a retracted position, where the plunger does not substantially extend into the interior of the container. An elastic member between the frame and the plunger urges the plunger to the extended position. A visual indicator is driven by the plunger between an indicating position and a non-indicating position. The force of the elastic member is selected to enable the membrane, under static pressure of fluid within the container, to urge the plunger to the retracted position.

Abstract: There is an automatic pet food dispensing apparatus can intermittently serve wet or dry food to an animal or pet. Additionally, there is a methodology described for dispensing pet food in accordance with the automatic pet food dispensing apparatus. The apparatus has multiple input arrays for pet food containers and serving dishes. Upon prompting, by wired or wireless means, the apparatus opens a container of pet food, extracts the food to a serving dish, and then disposes of the empty container in a pet food container disposing area. The serving dish makes it way through the apparatus and out a pivoting door to the waiting pet. The apparatus has mechanical mechanisms that allow for wet pet food to be safely stored under a hermetical seal until ready for use thus preserving the health and safety of the pet, as well as preventing costly spoilage.

Abstract: An apparatus for disposing of animal waste comprises a receptacle for receiving animal waste, a fixed screen within the receptacle for holding animal waste, and a drain for receiving animal waste. The drain is connected to a sanitary sewer. One or more spray nozzles flush animal waste through the fixed screen and into the drain. A controller mechanism controls the amount of water sent though the spray nozzle. A method for animal waste disposal method comprises depositing animal waste onto a fixed screen in a receptacle, the receptacle comprising a drain and a spray nozzle for flushing the animal waste through the fixed screen and into the drain. A controller mechanism is actuated to control the amount of water sent through the spray nozzle and thereby flushing the animal waste down the drain.

Abstract: A modularly connected device for cleaning a pet toilet according to the present invention includes a water inlet module and a water outlet module detachably attached so that the device may be conveniently installed in various places to automatically clean the pet toilet by sensing the feces and urine of pets. With such a modularly connected device for cleaning a pet toilet according to the present invention, the water inlet module and water outlet module are modularly connected and detached to provide convenience and simplicity of cleaning with a high capability of sensing the feces and urine of pets.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a fluid flow sensor and low flow cut-off device and an associated method for its operation that is easily integrated into a fluid delivery and/or fluid control system for a variety of appliances, such as boilers and water heaters. The fluid flow sensor and low flow cut-off device can determine a fluid flow rate in or to an appliance and whether that fluid flow rate meets or exceeds a predetermined fluid flow rate threshold for the safe and/or efficient operation of the appliance and, if the threshold is not met, disable the appliance from operating or continuing to operate under such conditions.

Abstract: A boiler comprises a boiler gas exhaust providing an exhaust for recuperated gases; and a secondary heat exchanger comprising: an economizer cold fluid inlet connected to a source of cold fluid; an economizer cold fluid outlet fluidly connected to the economizer cold fluid inlet and located thereabove, the cold fluid circulating upwardly from the economizer cold fluid inlet towards the economizer cold fluid outlet; a hot gas inlet for receiving the recuperated gases from the boiler gas exhaust; and a hot gas outlet fluidly connected to the hot gas inlet through the secondary heat exchanger, the recuperated gases circulating from the hot gas inlet toward the hot gas outlet; wherein the recuperated gases cross the secondary heat exchanger and exhaust by the hot gas outlet, the cold fluid being heated between the economizer cold fluid inlet and the economizer cold fluid outlet thereby resulting in a preheated fluid.

Abstract: A collection of gasifier fueled engine systems is networked through a system of connecting pipes and valves in order to provide fast response to output power demands and to extend the range of power levels at which the system exhibits high conversion efficiency.
