Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for enabling the automated selection of keywords for rapid keyword portfolio expansion are disclosed. Various embodiments are operable to normalize a plurality of keywords received from a source, filter the normalized plurality of keywords against one or more keyword filtration lists, produce site-specific variants of the filtered plurality of keywords, associate at least one level of dimension data with each of the plurality of keywords, and store the processed plurality of keywords and dimension data in a keyword database.

Abstract: A method and system of processing an invalid click is provided. The method includes the steps of: verifying an invalid click Internet Protocol (IP) address of a user terminal generating the invalid click with respect to an advertisement; associating the invalid click IP address with the advertisement, and registering and maintaining the invalid click IP address in an invalid click list when the invalid click IP address is verified; and providing the user terminal of the invalid click IP address with a result page other than the advertisement with respect to an advertisement exposure request using the invalid click IP address. When a number of clicks is greater than or equal to a predetermined number of clicks with respect to the same advertisement using the same IP address over a predetermined time, the step of verifying verifies the same IP address as the invalid click IP address.

Abstract: A system is described for providing for a revenue generator to bid exclusively on mobile search traffic. The system may include a processor, a memory and an interface. The memory may store a plurality of bids, a keyword, a mobile search request and a mobile advertisement associated with a revenue generator. The interface may communicate with a user and a plurality of revenue generators. The processor may receive bids on the keyword from the revenue generators. The bids may apply to the keyword when the keyword is searched for through the mobile carrier. The processor may receive the mobile search request from the user. The processor may determine if the mobile search request originated from the mobile carrier. The processor may serve the user the advertisement if the mobile search request originated from the mobile carrier, otherwise the mobile advertisement is not served for the keyword.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter can provide a mechanism that facilitates market segmentation among search engines. A segmentation mechanism is provided that displays a plurality of search engines that can be employed in connection with a plurality of search types. Thus, an Internet search query can be analyzed, e.g., by keywords to determine a type of search being performed, and subsequently directed to the search engine selected for that type rather than all search queries going to a single search engine. The routing of a query can be based upon a user's choices, which takes advantage of the fact that some search engines perform better than others based upon the type of search. The segmentation mechanism can be built into, e.g., an operating system, a browser and the like, and can be easily configured.

Abstract: A system that performs a financial transaction on behalf of a user is presented. During operation, the system receives parameters for the financial transaction. Next, the system analyzes the parameters to determine financial benefits of using one or more subsets of financial sources from a set of financial sources associated with the user to fulfill the financial transaction. The system then selects a subset of financial sources which substantially maximizes the financial benefits for the user. Next, the system uses the selected subset of financial sources to fulfill the financial transaction on behalf of the user.

Abstract: A description of one or more items identified by a buyer for purchase is received. Each item is represented as an object in a hierarchical data structure. A processing strategy is executed on the hierarchical data structure to generate purchasing information describing a purchase transaction involving the items. A display preprocessing strategy is executed to create display information describing a display of the generated purchasing information. The display information is transmitted to the buyer for generation of the display using the display information.

Abstract: Systems and methods for mediation of online trading services are provided. Supplemental content related to a content title may be listed in a market or store for content. A client device sends a mediated communication to a trading server; the mediated communication may include mediation data and a request concerning the transfer of supplemental content. A user account associated with the client device is identified and the supplemental content may then be assigned to the user account. A report regarding activity associated with the assignment of the supplemental content may be generated in accordance with mediation data.

The method includes the step of receiving, at a processing device of a commerce server, at least a video signal from a head mountable unit worn by a consumer in a retail store. The method also includes the step of identifying, with the processing device, an indication of depleted stock in the retail store in response to the video signal received from the head mountable unit. The method also includes the step of transmitting, with the processing device, a restock signal in response to the identifying step.

Abstract: A method and a system for certifying and monitoring commercial activity of manufacturers, distributors, and retailers are provided. The method includes registering a manufacturer with a certification and monitoring company. The method includes certifying the distributor and first and second retailers by the manufacturer for a product. The method includes inputting a first quantity of the product shipped during a time period from the manufacturer to the distributor, by the manufacturer, and inputting second and third quantities of the product shipped during the time period from the distributor to the first and second retailers, by the distributor. If a sum of the second and third quantities is greater than the first quantity by a predetermined amount, then a first notification message is generated.

Abstract: Communications between participants over a communications link are proxied by an intermediary, such as an Integrated Order Mechanism (IOM). Participants interact with each other through the IOM. The IOM may be transparent to the participants such that they are not aware that the IOM is involved in processing communications. For example, in the context of a transaction by a customer making a purchase from a merchant over the Internet, the IOM facilitates the processing of transactions by processing requests from both the customer and the merchant. Neither the customer nor the merchant may be aware that the transactions are being handled by the IOM. Transactions may be tracked using addresses in a communications network. Address identifiers may be used to reduce the size of the addresses.

Abstract: A number of different tags are input in a fax cover sheet that tell an OCR system not only the identity of the supplier, but also to which client the document should be routed. The OCR system identifies a number of these tags and compares them to stored supplier data to validate to which supplier the document belongs. If the system cannot validate the document, it is routed to a GUI for manual sorting. If there is no coversheet, the system relies upon the OCR system to locate keywords on the document and caller ID information to suggest a correct supplier. The OCR system also clips a separate, horizontal slice of the document (‘snippet’) that corresponds to the display of any line item and places it in a data base for future reference and reporting. The application collects and associates all corresponding snippets to their originating line items.

Abstract: A financial management system and a user mobile computing system are provided and geo-location data indicating the position of the user mobile computing system is monitored. One or more cash transaction triggers are defined which are used to indicate that a possible cash transaction is taking place, or has taken place, involving the user. When a cash transaction trigger is detected, the geo-location of the user mobile computing system at the time of the cash transaction trigger detection is automatically recorded and used to identify/determine a business associated with, or closest to, the geo-location. A potential cash transaction entry is then automatically generated including description and/or categorization data for the potential cash transaction entry selected/determined based, at least in part, on the identified/determined business.

A multiplicity of active grid elements function in the grid for supply capacity, supply and/or load curtailment as supply or capacity, and are compensated through settlement for their functional participation in the electric power grid.

Radio media content that includes a plurality of media data files is received via the network. The received plurality of media data files are stored in a storage device of the user electronic device. A radio playlist that defines a rendering sequence for the plurality of media data files is requested. In response to the request for the radio playlist, the radio playlist is received. The radio playlist is processed in the user electronic device to enable the stored plurality of media data files to be rendered on the user electronic device in accordance with the radio playlist.

A match confirmation program P2 confirms the match between the content of the license file LF decrypted by a decryption program P1 and device information DI, network information NI, and current time CT obtained from the substrate processing system to confirm the existence of the fact of illicit use. If there is illicit use, the control program P3 stops operation of the substrate processing system until predetermined action is taken based on the information from the match confirmation program P2.

Abstract: Current embodiments provide for authorization and payment of an online commercial transaction between a purchaser and a merchant including verification of an identity of the purchaser and verification of an ability of the purchaser to pay for the transaction, where the identity provider and the payment provider are often different network entities. Other embodiments also provide for protocols, computing systems, and other mechanisms that allow for identity and payment authentication using a mobile module, which establishes single or multilevel security over an untrusted network (e.g., the Internet). Still other embodiments also provide for a three-way secure communication between a merchant, consumer, and payment provider such that sensitive account information is opaque to the merchant, yet the merchant is sufficiently confident of the consumer's ability to pay for requested purchases.

Abstract: A digital system or device includes a battery pack as an exemplary functional subunit. In a warranty case determined by an electrical load test for determining its actual charge capacity, a battery check program initializes, via the operating system and an underlying printer, a printout of a warranty certificate. This certificate form, in particular, contains a UID of the underlying battery pack gathered from a ROM implemented in the battery pack. Before generating the printout of the certificate, the UID gathered from the ROM is coded e.g. by the battery check program and only the coded UID is printed. The printout of the warranty certificate thereafter will be delivered to the warranty service provider by the user. After having received the delivered warranty certificate and having checked validity of the user's warranty claim by means of the coded UID the warranty service provider sends a replacement battery pack back to the user.

Abstract: Systems and associated processes for guiding users to provide more useful reviews are described. These systems and processes can provide guided reviews in certain embodiments by presenting questions to a user in the form of an interview. The questions can be relevant to the item being reviewed, and as such, may be specifically and dynamically selected based on the particular item under consideration. Many other criteria may be used to select the types of questions presented to users, examples of which will be described below. Presenting review questions to users can have the effect of reducing or eliminating the “blank page” effect of having to write a review from scratch, with no guidance. Accordingly, review questions can potentially elicit more thorough and useful feedback than existing review systems in some embodiments.

The behavior and information model includes a behavior model component having a bias parameter and a consistency parameter. The behavior and information model includes an information model component having a first user-believed probability of a successful outcome and a second user-believed probability of a successful outcome. The behavior and information model is used to yield a model-determined probability of a successful outcome that more accurately reflects a probability of a successful outcome than the user-reported probability of a successful outcome does.

Abstract: A method is described for applying distributed stochastic optimization techniques of evolutionary computation using a plurality of servers and a plurality of clients machines being connected via a computer network such as the Internet. The stochastic optimization techniques of evolutionary computation seek to optimize a populations of individuals against one or more predetermined fitness criteria when applied to solving solve the network routing problem coupled with one or more information retrieval problems. The field of evolutionary computation encompasses stochastic optimization techniques, such as randomized search strategies, in the form of evolutionary strategies (ES), evolutionary programming (EP), genetic algorithms (GA), classifier systems, evolvable hardware (EHW), and genetic programming (GP). The stochastic optimization component objectives of the multimedia resource discovery and retrieval systems includes maximization of resource utilization and of overall LAN throughput.

Abstract: Method, system, and computer program product are provided for predicting diagnosis of a patient performed by a computerized device. The method may include: modeling data from a group of successfully diagnosed patients, wherein the data is modeled as treatment paths of patients including referrals to medical practitioners; and predicting diagnosis for a current patient by comparing a treatment path of the current patient with the modeled treatment paths of successfully diagnosed patients, including calculating a probability of a given diagnosis from the modeled treatment paths. The method may include: defining a set of medical entities including medical practitioners to which a patient has been referred; and gathering treatment paths of successfully diagnosed patients, wherein the treatment path links medical entities in a directional route.

Abstract: Methods and systems for robot and user interaction are provided to generate a personality for the robot. A robot may access a user device to determine or identify information about a user, and the robot may be configured to tailor a personality for interaction with the user based on the identified information. A robot may further receive data associated with the user to identify the user, such as using speech or face recognition. The robot may provide a personalized interaction or response to the user based on the determined information of the user. In some examples, a robot's personality or personalization can be transferred from one robot to another robot, or information stored on one robot can be shared with another robot over the cloud.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention provides a neural network circuit comprising multiple symmetric core circuits. Each symmetric core circuit comprises a first core module and a second core module. Each core module comprises a plurality of electronic neurons, a plurality of electronic axons, and an interconnection network comprising multiple electronic synapses interconnecting the axons to the neurons. Each synapse interconnects an axon to a neuron. The first core module and the second core module are logically overlayed on one another such that neurons in the first core module are proximal to axons in the second core module, and axons in the first core module are proximal to neurons in the second core module. Each neuron in each core module receives axonal firing events via interconnected axons and generates a neuronal firing event according to a neuronal activation function.

When a query is received requiring analysis of data, the rules are evaluated to obtain a solution. The evaluation includes: obtaining the solution from a stack of existing solutions; searching a database of rule definitions if the solution is not available from the stack; calculating a solution using an explicit definition for each rule and the data, if the explicit definition is available for a given rule; calculating a solution using an implicit definition for each rule and the data, if the explicit definition is not available; and determining a best solution according to a predefined priority of data types. The solution is then supplied to an output format, such as a spreadsheet. The rules are received from a plurality of files, include descriptive variable names, and are applied to all cells in the spreadsheet.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to automated searching and comparison of game statistics to identify, rank and present statistically significant events related to game play during and/or after a game in automatically generated sentences. An apparatus comprises a processor circuit and storage storing instructions operative on the processor circuit to receive signals conveying a first set of statistical information closely related to play of a first game; search the first set of statistical information for a first set of statistical anomalies; and in response to the first set of statistical anomalies comprising an insufficient number of statistical anomalies, search a second set of statistical information less closely related to play of the first game for a second set of statistical anomalies, and transmit a multitude of sentences describing statistical anomalies of the first and second sets of statistical anomalies to a computing device. Responses to a survey are used to expand the set of experts by adding experts noted in answer referrals. The survey is updated by removing satisfied questions, and expert selections, answers analysis and survey updating and resending steps are iteratively repeated until each question is satisfied, wherein the expert sets may be dynamically revised in each iteration.

The estimation unit is configured to estimate whether or not the user acts in accordance with a first schedule including a task to do for accomplishing a preset aim. The creation unit is configured to create, when estimated that the user does not act in accordance with the first schedule, a new second schedule for accomplishing the aim from a state of the user who acts without following the first schedule.

Abstract: A system for governing entry of data into a database commonly accessible by a plurality of entities, each of which has requirements for its data that differ from the requirements of other entities, comprised one or more rules base servers for storing a rules base data structure. The data structure is a collection of documents which are either a rule applicable to an entity or a rules interface which provides a navigation route to an applicable rule. The system includes a rules engine which executes an algorithm that recursively searches the documents in the rules base, evaluating each document until a rule is found, executing the rule, and storing the result returned by the executed rule, until all applicable rules for the entity submitting the set of data are executed.

The neighborhoods are combined to leverage the local discriminalities of all base distance metrics by applying at least one iterative process to output a composite distance metric.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, selection program, device and article of manufacture for selecting images of one or more operating systems (OS) that are cached in a target data processing system. The method can be implemented in a provisioning system where the system includes a first pool having the images of a plurality of different OS and a second pool having a plurality of data processing systems. The method includes: calculating the probability that the respective OS images in the first pool will be used in the next provisioning; and determining a combination of one or more OS images as one or more OS images to be cached.

The system includes a Tag Cloud Management Module, a Tag Cluster Generator Module and a Skill Matrix Generator Module. The Tag Cloud Management Module is configured to generate a tag cloud, wherein the tag cloud includes one or more tags created by the employee while browsing content of interest. The Tag Cluster Generator Module is configured to create one or more groups/clusters of one or more tags included in the tag cloud, based on one or more technologies related to the one or more tags. The Skill Matrix Generator Module is configured to analyze the created one or more clusters of tags to determine the skill matrix of the employee.

Abstract: A process control method that automatically and comprehensively manages the creation, storage and use of electronic records during the operation of a controlled process and for governing and documenting the users that operate the computer systems that are involved in the creation, storage and use of the electronic records. The method controls a process, such as a chemical process, by receiving measurement information relating to the process, applying rules to the received measurement information to determine a desired response, and sending control information to at least one device associated with the process, so as to modify the process. Abstract: A system and method for allocating storage devices within a database system including fast solid state storage devices (SSDs) and traditional hard drive storage device (HDDs). The method repetitively collects temperature and queue depth data for each storage device, and determines from the collected data points a service time for each storage device. The method then selects, in response to an allocation request, a storage device having a minimum total wait time determined from the current queue depth and service time for each storage device.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for generating an ensemble model from multiple data sources. In one embodiment, the ensemble model is generated using a global validation sample, a global holdout sample and base models generated from the multiple data sources. An accuracy value may be determined for each base model, on the basis of the global validation dataset. The ensemble model may be generated from a subset of the base models, where the subset is selected on the basis of the determined accuracy values.
