Abstract: An eye protection device for a welding mask or the like includes a welding activity detection circuit that is configured to detect welding activity, and a filter driver that controls an optical filter to be in undarkened and darkened states. The filter driver is configured to (i) provide a slower and/or gradual opening of the filter, (ii) insert a user-selected delay and/or gradient between the end of welding activity and the opening of the filter, and/or (iii) cause variation of light transmission values of the filter between a darkened state and an undarkened state based on varying brightness detected by a brightness sensor during transition of the filter from a darkened state to an undarkened state.

Abstract: A minimal glove capable of being removably secured to a palm directly, the minimal glove comprises a flexible sheet having a substrate layer, a backing layer having a top surface and a bottom surface and an attachment layer, wherein the flexible sheet is formed substantially in the shape of a human palm, the substrate layer is disposed on the top surface of the backing layer and the attachment layer is disposed on the bottom surface of the backing layer and the attachment layer is configured to be removably attached to the palm directly. The minimal glove further comprises a protective sheet on which the attachment layer is attached such that the attachment layer of the flexible sheet is protected from contamination when the protective sheet is not in use.

The mounting portion includes a bottom surface that is configured to grip the support surface when positioned thereon. The collection portion includes a pouch and hangs from the mounting portion. The mounting portion collects debris that would otherwise collect on the support surface. The collection portion, and especially the pouch of the collection portion, collects debris that would otherwise collect on clothing, on a chair, in a lap, on the floor, or at any other undesirable location. The pouch may be impermeable so that fluid is retained in the pouch. The mounting portion and the collection portion may be flexible such that the bib may be washable and foldable. The mounting portion may be weighted so as to secure the bib to the support surface.

Abstract: A fabric is provided having a defined pattern of hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions that extend entirely through the thickness of the fabric so that the defined pattern is identical on the inner and outer surfaces of the fabric. The defined pattern is configured so that the hydrophilic regions are all in communication or interconnected so that moisture, such as perspiration, can wick not only from the inner to the outer surface of the fabric but also throughout the surface of the fabric and in several directions on the fabric so that the surface area of the wetted hydrophilic regions increases. The defined pattern may be further configured so that none of the hydrophobic regions are in communication.

The necktie comprises at least two parts obtained from fabrics of different colours, patterns and fabric types, such that, when worn, the necktie can display at least two different appearances, namely: one in which the front apron is visible and prominent; and another in which the rear apron is positioned in front of the front apron and is therefore more prominent, such that the two aprons with different appearances are both on display and the appearance of the knot matches that of the apron that is pulled up during tying. The different fabrics are visible at the neck and the lengths of the different aprons at the connection thereof are dependent on the appearance of the knot.

Abstract: A pair of gloves with cleaning surfaces have a thumb cleaning portion located on the thumb tip, a finger cleaning portion on a fingertip portion and a ventral cleaning portion located on the backside of the gloves. The cleaning portions are integrally formed in the same material as the rest of the gloves and are completely sealed to provide sterility. The gloves fit on the left and right hand of a user and have the same cleaning surfaces on each. Indicator portions are integrally formed within the gloves and allow the user to estimate the length of various things without using a separate measuring device. During use, the indicator portions may become contaminated and the cleaning portions are used to clean away the contaminates to restore their usefulness.

The detachable sheet can be separated from the sweatband so that the sweatband can be cleaned without degrading the transparent pocket or getting water into it. One or more flaps with transparent pockets can be attached to the detachable sheet by a hinge that multiple pages of plays may be viewed by opening the flap. The flap is held down by a second hook-and-loop fasteners with a lower peel strength than the sweatband's hook and loop fasteners so that a top flap can be opened without removing the detachable sheet from the sweatband.

A front flap extending beyond the crotch area can have fasteners to secure the flap on the sides and plural front buttons to tie the flap on the top. Alternatively, fasteners can be provided to secure the flap from behind, when using the toilet. The flap can be an integral cloth, hinged or attached on the posterior of the pants, and can be Y-shaped or an hourglass shaped and opens in the front. A zipper, zip, fly or zip fastener can bind edges of the fabric opening, based on interlocking teeth.

Abstract: One example describes a holder (also known as a holster or accessory) that is to be used by uniformed professional field personnel (e.g., law enforcement, fire, parks departments, search and rescue, private security, utilities personnel, military, etc.), collectively described below as “Officer”. This also introduces new features that allow for improved access and improved Officer safety. This also deals with the holders and how to build or set them up, so that it is safe and convenient, as well as protected and easy to access for the officer, but not easy to access for a third party. Some of the variations and structures that we show here are, e.g., the spring loaded flaps, the cutouts on the sides, the magnet, and the recessed snap.

Abstract: A headgear of soft pliable materials to protect the wearer's head from injury, featuring hidden impact-protection and appearing like a normal garment for the head, have openings for gathered hair such as pony-tails, highly-visible/reflective outer material, anti-bacterial/anti-fungal materials, optional thermal insulation and rain-proof materials, calibrated tensioned elastic material for maintaining the precise tension required to ensure the hat remains on the wearer's head during a trip or fall. An alternative embodiment of the invention also features impact absorbing protrusions or a network of interconnected gas, liquid or gel filled cells to prevent angular acceleration/deceleration due to impact. The impact protection provided is designed to suit the bio-mechanical requirements of the various ages of the wearer.

A head motion restraint assembly includes a first portion engaged to the helmet assembly and a second portion engageable to a shoulder pad(s) worn by a user.

Abstract: A football helmet includes a plastic shell with side regions having an ear flap with a face guard connector, an ear opening, a slot, and a snap connector. The helmet also includes an internal padding assembly removably connected to the plastic shell and including a jaw pad with a force attenuating layer. When the helmet is worn, a front edge of the jaw pad is positioned both in front of a coronal plane and below a basic plane of a head of the helmet wearer. A chin strap assembly releasably secures the helmet to the wearer and includes a lower flexible strap extending outwardly from each side of a central protective member. When the helmet is worn, an extent of the lower flexible strap is received by the slot when said strap is affixed to the snap connector. The shell also includes a raised central band integrally formed as part of the shell and extending across the crown region to the rear region. An arrangement of elongated vent openings flank the raised central band.

Abstract: The present invention is a dry erase helmet with dry erase markers and/or a stencil set. The dome-shaped helmet of the present invention includes adjustable straps and an exterior surface of the helmet cover that is also a writing surface that can provide a clear high contrast message or other expression in a temporary and repeatable fashion. The helmet comes with a set of dry erase markers and a stencil kit to help with designs. The invention is a combination of two existing products, a helmet and dry erase markers. The exterior surface of the helmet shell is adapted to retain dry erase ink when written upon by a writing instrument and to release dry erase ink therefrom when wiped.

Abstract: A horizontally extendable retrofit assembly for a helmet visor that extends for protection of the wearer's the face. A retrofit visor attachment for a helmet visor includes a flexible polymer visor shaped to connect to existing fixed helmet visors commonly found on motocross helmets. Such an add-on will fit a multitude of helmet configurations. The retrofit includes a visor and a stowage mechanism for enabling the visor to extend and retract underneath the preexisting fixed visor. When in the usage position, the retrofit visor increases the horizontal surface area of visor-retrofit combination so that the amount of protection provided by the fixed visor is substantially increased. Thus, so is the amount of protection to the exposed portions of a wearer's face.

Abstract: Methods and devices for adjusting the position of a mandible guard relative to a helmet are disclosed. Adjustment of the mandible guard may be performed by a user while the user is wearing the helmet and/or without the use of tools. A mandible guard adjustment system may be combined with an attachment system for attaching and removing the mandible guard to a helmet.

In one non-limiting embodiment, the support frame includes a nose bridge and two legs extending from the nose bridge. The nose bridge and the two legs are adapted and arranged to releasably attach the facemask to a bottom surface of the goggles. The nose bridge and two legs are arranged such that the at least one vent is unobstructed when the facemask is attached to the goggles by the support frame.

The waxless modular seal comprises a rubber portion and a resiliently compressible toroid-shaped foam ring, both of which are, in combination, designed to replace a traditional wax seal. The waxless modular seal captures the foam ring between an upper sealing ring and a lower sealing ring. Each sealing ring and the foam ring comprises a protrusion and at least one vertically disposed aperture, the apertures being sized sufficiently so as to allow a fastener to pass through the apertures. The foam ring may comprise a plurality of foam rings.

This discharge outlet is arranged for connection to an air supply via an air duct, the air duct having a side wall extending between a first end of the duct and a second end of the duct. The first end of the duct is connected to the air supply, the second end of the duct forms—or is connected to—the air-knife discharge outlet. The outlet extends across the second end of the duct, as opposed to being provided in the sidewall of the duct.

The at least one aperture is formed such that, in use, waste that flows into the waste pan means can exit through the or each at least one aperture towards the opening in the waste outlet.
