Abstract: An absorbent article has an absorbing core and a liquid-permeable second sheet disposed on the absorbing core. The absorbing core includes a liquid-holding material and a liquid-permeable core-wrapping sheet. The core-wrapping sheet covers the liquid-holding material, but a portion of a top-side surface of the liquid-holding material is exposed. The second sheet contacts the liquid-holding material at the exposed portion. The second sheet is placed in direct contact with the cellulose fibers of the liquid-holding material, and liquid permeates from the second sheet into the liquid-holding material. Also, deformation of the liquid-holding material is prevented by the hydrophilic core-wrapping sheet covering the liquid-holding material.

Abstract: An absorbent article has a lower absorbing core and an upper absorbing core. Each absorbing core includes a liquid-holding material and a liquid-permeable core-wrapping sheet. The liquid-holding material is covered by the liquid-permeable core-wrapping sheet, but it also has an exposed portion not covered by the liquid-permeable core-wrapping sheet. The exposed portions of the lower absorbing core and the upper absorbing core face each other and the liquid-holding materials are connected with each other at the exposed portion. Because the liquid-holding material of the upper absorbing core is in direct contact with the liquid-holding material of the lower absorbing core, the area provides a path through which liquid flows smoothly from the upper absorbing core to the lower absorbing core. Also, because the upper and lower liquid-holding materials are covered by the core-wrapping sheets, deformation of the liquid-holding materials is prevented.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of cosmetic and dermopharmaceutical compositions. It concerns oligomer compounds of D-glucuronic acid or D-glucuronate with a ? (1-4) sequence (or oligoglucuronans) containing a degree of acetylation specifically between 8.7±0.5 and 9.2±0.5% by weight of O—CO—CH3 group compared to the weight of glucuronic acid and with a degree of polymerisation (DP) of 18-19±2. The oligomer compounds according to the present invention are intended to stimulate the elasticity of the dermis and epidermis although they also act to increase dermo-epidermal cohesion in order to combat skin ageing, lines, wrinkles, visible and/or tactile skin discontinuities, loss of firmness, elasticity and tone and to combat skin tissue deformability. The invention also concerns a cosmetic composition containing at least one compound as recited according to the present invention.

Abstract: Upon attempting to design a pharmaceutical preparation by mixing minoxidil with a general thickening agent during a process for considering a minoxidil-containing composition for an agent for external use in which dripping is inhibited, it was discovered that the pharmaceutical preparation would have sediments or would cloud and that a sufficient viscosity of the pharmaceutical preparation could not be obtained. The minoxidil-containing composition for an agent for external use of the present invention is characterized by containing minoxidil (a), a hydroxypropyl cellulose and hypromellose (b), ethanol (c), and water (d). Said composition is clear and has a good feel upon use, and dripping of the composition is inhibited.

Abstract: Compositions for delivering materials, such as a biological material, sand, soil, metal, water, sea water, holy water, synthetic or biological polymers, cremated ash, ceramics, animal or plant tissue, or another physiologically compatible component having personal significance to an individual are described herein. The material(s) are encapsulated in an inert, non-bioerodible, hydrophobic, polymeric material. Methods of making microparticles encapsulating the personalizing substance and methods of use are also provided. The personalizing substance may be encapsulated in a polymeric non-bioerodible microparticle. The encapsulated personalizing substance may be combined with a carrier for delivery to an individual's skin. In some embodiments, the personalizing substance is added to a tattoo ink and incorporated in a tattoo created on an individual's skin. Following injection in the skin, the encapsulated material remains in the microparticles, and is not released over time.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a series of polyesters that are made by the reaction of a diacid with a pre-formed mono-hydroxy, di-hydroxy and optionally a tri-hydroxy ester of polyols selected from pentaerythritol, dipentearythritol trimethylolpropane and mixtures thereof. When reacted in the sequence shown, that is pre-formation of the mono-ester, di-ester and tri-ester, selection of the proper ratio of one to the other and then and only then reacted with the diacid, do these polyesters remain free of a gel and form cosmetically elegant oil phases.
