Publication number: 20150220144Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are herein provided for attracting a user's gaze to information associated with a portion of a display in a non-intrusive manner. A method may include determining to attract a user's gaze to information associated with a portion of a display. The method may further include causing presentation of a visual attractant on the display proximate the portion of the display. The method may further include causing presentation of the visual attractant on the display to be ceased in an instance in which the user's gaze is determined to be moving toward the information. Corresponding apparatuses and computer program products are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 2015Publication date: August 6, 2015Inventors: Daniel L. Ashbrook, Sean M. White, David H. Publication number: 20150220147Abstract: An application runs on an electronic device having a touch surface, with one or more virtual controls on the touch surface. An overlay panel is attached to the electronic device, with one or more physical actuators mounted within a nonconductive frame. Each physical actuator has one or more conductive elements configured to create a conductive path through the physical actuator. Each physical actuator is aligned with and makes contact with one or more associated virtual controls on the touch surface, such that a user can operate the virtual control(s) by actuating the associated physical actuator(s).Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2014Publication date: August 6, 2015Applicant: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Thomas Moore King, Christopher David Braun

Publication number: 20150220148Abstract: A system that generates a haptic effect generates a drive cycle signal that includes a drive period and a monitoring period. The drive period includes a plurality of drive pulses that are based on the haptic effect. The system applies the drive pulses to a resonant actuator during the drive period and receives a signal from the resonant actuator that corresponds to the position of a mass in the actuator during the monitoring period.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2015Publication date: August 6, 2015Inventors: Pedro GREGORIO, Danny A. Publication number: 20150220149Abstract: A location of a first portion of a hand and a location of a second portion of the hand are detected within a working volume, the first portion and the second portion being in a horizontal plane. A visual representation is positioned on a display based on the location of the first portion and the second portion. A selection input is initiated when a distance between the first portion and the second portion meets a predetermined threshold, to select an object presented on the display, the object being associated with the location of the visual representation. A movement of the first portion of the hand and the second portion of the hand also may be detected in the working volume while the distance between the first portion and the second portion remains below the predetermined threshold and, in response, the object on the display can be repositioned.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2013Publication date: August 6, 2015Applicant: Google Inc.Inventors: Christian Plagemann, Hendrik Dahlkamp, Varun Ganapathi
