Abstract: In a disc assembly for supporting a ground engaging disc on a respective support arm of a vertical tillage implement, the disc supporting hub has an annular body rotatably supported on a shaft. The outer end of the annular body is enclosed by a cap and the inner end of the annular body is enclosed by an end plate fixed on the shaft relative to which the annular body is rotated. First and second annular flanges on the inner end of the annular body receive a tongue portion of the end plate therein so as to define a sinuous, narrow clearance gap where the annular body of the hub and the end plate of the shaft are in a non-contacting, rotatable relationship with one another. The sinuous, narrow clearance gap minimizes penetration of soil and residue therethrough to the interior of the hub where bearings are located.

Exchangeable expendable parts include teat cup liners, cartridges including teat cup liners, and milk or vacuum tubes connected to teat cups.

Abstract: A pressure activated recharging cooling platform for cooling an object is provided. The cooling platform comprises a temperature regulation layer, a support layer, and a channeled covering layer. The temperature regulation layer is adapted to hold a composition. The temperature regulation layer has a plurality of angled segments, wherein angled segments within a sealed perimeter of the temperature regulation layer are formed by a top side and a bottom side at a predefined distance, and channels, wherein the channels substantially form sides by contacting the top side with the bottom side at a distance lesser than the predefined distance. The support layer is substantially bonded to the bottom side of the temperature regulation layer and is comprised of material sufficiently pliable to deform and sufficiently rigid to withstand collapse in response to the weight of the object. The channeled covering layer encompasses the support and temperature regulation layers.

Abstract: A livestock identification system/method configured to identify individual animals from a pool of livestock is disclosed. The system/method utilizes images of individual animals and determines the identity of a specific animal based on markers extracted from the image of the animal. These markers may then be used to characterize the state of the animal as to weight, health, and other parameters. The system is configured to log these parameters in a temporal database that may be used to determine historical activity of the animal, including but not limited to activity relating to food and/or fluid intake. This historical record in conjunction with analysis of the animal state parameters is used to determine the animal health status and may also be used to determine whether the animal is ready for harvesting.

Abstract: Acoustic tags have been used for years in fisheries research to study survival and behavior of fish in various aquatic environments. The described techniques, devices and systems enhance the ability of researchers to understand the effect on fish (or other animal's) mortality by predators through an acoustic tag that includes a digestible fuse. When the implanted acoustic tag comes in contact with the digestive fluids in a predator's stomach, the fuse coating is dissolved causing the fuse to disintegrate and result in an open circuit. The open circuit in turn signals the electronics in the acoustic tag that the tagged animal has been consumed. In response, the electronics alter the tag transmit signal to indicate that predation has occurred.
