  • Patent number: 9215748
Abstract: In a system that performs communication between master and slave, the device better suited as the master device is not always the master device, since the device that initially constructs the network becomes the master device. A device that enters the network later transmits a restart request on detecting the master device, and if a restart permission is received, the device transfers to a restart state and transmits a master inquiry before the device that was the master device up until that point. Thus, a device that newly enters a network is able to operate as the master device even if a master device already exists in the network.

  • Patent number: 9215749
Abstract: A second error microphone may be incorporated in a mobile device to allow computation of additional parameters for modifying an adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) algorithm. For example, a first and second acoustic pressure may be calculated from a first and second error microphone of the mobile device. The first and second acoustic pressure may be input to an algorithm for determining an acoustic intensity vector. The ANC algorithm may receive the acoustic intensity vector as an input, and adapt an anti-noise signal to reduce the acoustic intensity vector. Additionally, an input impedance for the error microphones may be calculated from the acoustic pressure to determine coupling between a speaker and a user's ear. The anti-noise algorithm may be adjusted or disabled when the input impedance indicates the user has removed the phone from the user's ear.

  • Patent number: 9215766
Abstract: A drive device for a light-emitting element that improves accuracy while driving the light-emitting element at small currents for which a comparatively simple configuration is provided. The drive device includes detecting means, comparing means, a driving voltage source, and offset means. The detecting means detects a voltage corresponding to a current flowing through a first resistor for current detection. The first resistor is coupled to a light-emitting element in series. The comparing means compares a magnitude of the detection voltage of the detecting unit with a comparison voltage. The driving voltage source applies a voltage corresponding to a comparison result by the comparing means to a series circuit of the light-emitting element and the first resistor. The offset means corrects the voltage corresponding to a current flowing through the first resistor by a correction voltage.

  • Patent number: 9215784
Abstract: A programmable lighting control system integrates time-based, sensor-based, and manual control of lighting and other loads. The system includes one or more groups of controlled lighting areas, which may be, e.g., floors of a building. Each group may have one or more lighting zones, which may be, e.g., individual rooms or offices on a building floor. Each lighting zone includes occupancy and/or daylight sensors that may be wirelessly coupled to a gateway of the group. Each gateway is coupled to a network, such as, e.g., a local area network (LAN). Control software, residing on a computer (e.g., a personal computer or a server) coupled to the network and accessible via the network, remotely communicates with and controls the lighting zones either individually, groupwise, or globally. Each lighting zone can also be locally controlled at the gateway and can function independently of the control software and the gateway.

Abstract: Devices and methods for treating biological tissue using a plasma gas-discharge are disclosed herein. An electrode for igniting a gas flow to form a plasma gas-discharge, wherein the electrode is configured within the device such that upon encountering a surface of the biological tissue by the electrode, a path of current from the electrode to the surface of the biological tissue is formed, thereby igniting the gas flow and forming the plasma gas-discharge. In some embodiments, electromagnetic interactions between the treated biological tissue and the plasma gas discharge traversing the electromagnetic interaction gap shape the profile of the plasma gas discharge. According to some embodiments, the device includes an electrode for igniting gas of the gas flow, and electromagnetic interactions between the electrode and the skin determine, at least in part, the electromagnetic interactions that shape the profile of the plasma gas discharge.

  • Patent number: 9215791
Abstract: To reduce the number of steps of generating control pattern data needed for achieving beam irradiation with desired energy in the beam extraction from a synchrotron accelerator, a data generator 41 divides adjusted control pattern data, defines the divided data intervals as data modules, and reuses each of the data modules to generate new control pattern data. For extraction energy level changes, which are characteristic of multi-energy extraction, energy change control pattern data is generated based on the extraction pattern data before an energy level change and the extraction pattern data after the energy level change by using an interpolation function thereby to allow the control pattern data to be automatically generated. Effects of residual magnetic fields are calculated in advance, and then adjustment values that allow for the effects of the residual magnetic fields are incorporated into the control pattern data and operation is controlled.
