Further provided is a tobacco product package, comprising a casing comprising an outer rim, and a removable lid enclosing the outer rim of the casing, wherein the outer rim is coated with a coating layer comprising methyl salicylate, and also a method for producing the tobacco product package.

Abstract: A process for preparing coated particles of a plant material includes: (a) combining plant material particles and a protein in a liquid medium, wherein the protein adsorbs onto at least a portion of a surface of the particles to form a first layer; and (b) mixing a polysaccharide including a pectin with the liquid medium, so that the polysaccharide adsorbs onto at least a portion of a surface of the first layer to form a second layer. In addition, a palatable product comprising at least one coated particle prepared by this process is described.

Abstract: The invention provides a method of isolating certain target compounds from tobacco, tobacco materials or smoke generated by a smoking article. The method can be used to remove undesirable compounds from tobacco, tobacco materials, or tobacco smoke. The method can also be used to remove flavor compounds from tobacco or tobacco materials, which can then be used as flavor components for tobacco material used in smoking articles and smokeless tobacco compositions.

Abstract: Smoking articles including filter elements formed from two or more fibrous inputs with different physical properties are provided. The two or more fibrous inputs are provided in the form of staple fibers, which are at least partially entangled with each other to form a mixed fiber sliver. The mixed fiber sliver includes a first plurality of cellulose acetate staple fibers blended with a second plurality of staple fibers comprising a polymeric material different from the first plurality of staple fibers, such as staple fibers of a degradable polymeric material. The entangled fibers of the mixed fiber sliver may be sufficiently separated from one another such that blooming operations typically required in filter element production may not be necessary prior to incorporating the mixed fiber sliver into a filter element. Related methods, apparatuses and mixed fiber products are also provided by the disclosure.

Abstract: A device for smoking a combustible material including a chamber having a hollow interior being supported by a housing, wherein a container is structured to retain a combustible material in an exposed position relative to an ignition device structured to selectively ignite the combustible material. A path of fluid flow is at least partially disposed on the housing in fluid communication with both the chamber interior and the container. A pressure regulator is movably connected to the chamber and is operative to establish a negative pressure within the chamber and along the path of fluid flow, concurrent to the ignition of and smoke generation from the material. The negative pressure is sufficient to direct the generated smoke from the container, along the path of fluid flow into the chamber. An access opening in the chamber facilitates inhalation of the generated smoke by a user.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention relates to a modular garment harness system including a lower body garment, a waist member, a leg loop member, and a coupler. The waist member may act as both a belt and waist portion of the harness by encircling the waist region of the lower body garment. The waist member may be coupled to the lower body garment so as to enable a user to single handedly adjust the internal circumference of the waist region. The leg loop member and coupler are modular components in that they may be easily stored and engaged when full harness operation is necessary. The coupler may enable a user to intercouple the anterior middle region of the leg loop member, the posterior middle region of the leg loop member, and the fixed gap formed between the waist member and lower body garment.

Abstract: An insole and/or outsole for a shoe such as an athletic shoe or cleat that includes a multilayer channeled assembly designed at preventing the transfer of heat from extremely hot ground surfaces, most notably synthetic turf, to the foot. In one embodiment, the insole includes a channeled layer of solid material with a very low thermal conductivity, preferably silicon or cork, as the base material beneath a layer of heat resistant felt preferably made of oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers. The channeling in the base layer allows for air pockets to be created within the insole itself that makes the heat resistant felt more resistant to (i.e., efficient at preventing) the transfer of heat. In another embodiment, the outsole for a shoe such as an athletic shoe or cleat includes a base layer of channeled solid material with low thermal conductivity, silicon, cork, or polystyrene, below a layer of heat resistant felt.
