Abstract: Various embodiments of an aquarium and its method of use are disclosed. In some embodiments the aquarium includes a first container including a waste collection area, an outlet, and a conduit fluidly connecting the waste collection area and the outlet. Depending upon the particular embodiment, the aquarium may also include features such as a second container adapted and configured to mate with the first container and receive the outlet such that fluid flows from the waste collection area through the outlet and into the second container when fluid is added above a preselected fluid level. In other related embodiments, the conduit may be formed by first and second portions of the conduit formed in the first container and a separate component.

Abstract: The present invention relates to transgenic purple ornamental fish, as well as methods of making such fish by in vitro fertilization techniques. Also disclosed are methods of establishing a population of such transgenic fish and methods of providing them to the ornamental fish industry for the purpose of marketing.

Abstract: The present invention relates to fishing lures equipped with one or more light sources interacting and/or interfacing with one or more light transmission mediums. The light transmission medium acts to illuminate one or more areas proximate to the fishing lure to provide a natural luminance or iridescence. The light transmission medium can be made from a flexible translucent hot melt thermoplastic material extruded into a polymer lens and can be located on an outer surface of a body of the fishing lure or inside the body of the fishing lure. The light transmission medium can also be provided in the form of a soft flexible component made from Plastisol or other similar translucent materials. The light source can be embedded in or located proximate to the light transmission medium to amplify, intensify, and/or disperse light along the light transmission medium to provide a natural looking luminescence to the fishing lure.

Abstract: A present dual-bearing reel spool braking device is configured to apply a braking force to a spool that is rotatably mounted on a reel body with a centrifugal force. The spool braking device includes a rotating member, a brake shoe, a brake drum, and a selective fixing member. The rotating member rotates in conjunction with the rotation of the spool. The brake shoe is supported by a rotating member so as to be pivotal between a braking position where the brakes are applied to the spool with a centrifugal force and a non-braking position where a non-braking rotation of the spool is allowed. The brake drum is configured to come into contact with the brake shoe. The selective fixing member is mounted to the rotating member. The selective fixing member selectively fixes the brake shoe to the non-braking position by selectively engaging with the brake shoe.

Abstract: An improved fishing rod holder is provided that includes a base assembly, a rod holder assembly, and a connecting member that connects the base and rod holder assemblies. The connecting member is connected to the rod holder assembly with a first T-joint. The rod holder assembly is configured to hold two fishing poles. The first T-joint is removable from the connecting member such that the connecting member and base assembly may be filled with water or sand to weigh down the fishing rod holder. In a second embodiment the rod holder assembly and the connecting member are the same, but the base assembly is replaced with a triangular-shaped base assembly. In third embodiment stabilization in enhanced, in a fourth embodiment fewer components are required, and in a fifth embodiment a canoe embodiment is presented.

Abstract: A trap-setting apparatus for use in setting a dog-proof trap that includes a continuous side wall, a spring member that is movable between a tripped configuration extending away from the side wall and a rigging configuration adjacent thereto. The trap-setting apparatus includes a cam member and an elongate handle having a proximal member coupled thereto and a distal end displaced therefrom, the handle being configured to rotate the cam member when moved. The trap-setting apparatus includes a pair of hook members each having a first end coupled to the cam member and a second end selectively coupled to the spring member of the dog-proof trap. In use, a user movement of the handle causes the cam member to rotate relative to the side wall of the trap and to move the spring member from the tripped configuration toward the rigging configuration.

Abstract: This invention is based on unexpected effect of at least one thickener to maintain suspension or dispersion of solid particles in an oil medium. Such effect of thickener enables significant higher weight ratio of solid particles in such suspension composition as compared to previously known compositions. As a consequence, the suspension compositions provided herein enable more active ingredient in the solid particle to be present in a fixed volume or weight of such composition as compared to previously known compositions. One advantage of the suspension composition provided herein can be for aerial spraying of active ingredient such as herbicides, insecticides, or other growth regulating compounds.

Abstract: A synergistic fungicide composition, a formulation method and a use thereof are provided. The composition contains two active components A and B, where the active component A is benziothiazolinone, the active component B is one selected from dithianon, dimethomorph, iprodione and epoxiconazol, and the weight ratio of the two components is 1:50 to 50:1, and preferably 1:30 to 30:1. Test results show that, the fungicide composition has a significant synergistic effect, and more importantly, the application amount and the use-cost are reduced. The purpose of this research was to identify the fungal pathogens that decrease crop yield of switchgrass grown in Tennessee and to investigate a potential sustainable disease management strategy from a value-added by-product of the switchgrass biofuel conversion process. The specific objectives were 1) to identify and characterize prevalent fungal pathogens of switchgrass in Tennessee, 2) assess switchgrass seed produced in the United States for seedborne fungal pathogens, and 3) evaluate switchgrass extractives for antimicrobial activity against plant pathogens.
