  • Patent number: 9303593
Abstract: An arm portion is integrally formed with a housing. The arm portion protrudes from the housing in such a manner as not to be in contact with a passage-forming portion and a passage-side fastening portion. The arm portion has corner portions and a drive-side fastening portion. After a heat of EGR gas is transferred to the drive-side fastening portion, the heat is transferred to the housing through the corner portions. The arm portion elongates a heat transfer pass from the EGR gas to the driving portion to increase a resistance of heat transfer. Further, the arm portion increases a heat radiation surface area to increase a heat radiation quantity. The EGR apparatus can restrict a heat transfer from the EGR gas to the driving portion.

  • Patent number: 9303596
Abstract: An EGR cooler and an EGR cooler device includes a pre-cooler which is located at a central region at which a cooling water chamber of an EGR cooler housing, in which cooling water circulates, is divided into two spaces, and in which hot exhaust gas introduced from an exhaust system is discharged as primary-cooled exhaust gas via heat-exchange with the cooling water. Therefore, it may be possible to reduce costs by a decrease in number of EGR tubes via optimal primary cooling performance for the exhaust gas in the pre-cooler and particularly to relieve damage by a thermal load generated due to the hot exhaust gas by fully surrounding an inlet and an outlet of the pre-cooler with the circulating cooling water.

  • Patent number: 9303600
Abstract: A fuel vapor leakage detection device performs a fuel vapor leakage detection method to detect a clogging of passages in an evaporated fuel processing system by (i) switching a switching valve after measuring a first reference pressure, (ii) determining whether a detected pressure equals atmospheric pressure after opening a purge valve, (iii) recording the detected pressure after closing the purge valve, and (iv) switching the switching valve to depressurize an atmospheric system and to determine whether a current detection value of the pressure sensor is the same as the first reference pressure. Then, a second reference pressure is measured for comparison with the first reference pressure, to determine whether the evaporation system is clogged. In such manner, leakage and the clogging of the passages in an evaporated fuel processing system may be detected.

  • Patent number: 9303606
Abstract: The present invention refers to a fuel rail made of plastic material with a heating system (10,100). The said rail is applied, mainly, in the form of devices for aiding the cold start of engines which consume fuels whose specific vaporization heat is high, for example, alcohol. • Patent number: 9303611
Abstract: A starting device for an internal combustion engine includes a pulley mounted rotatably in a housing which can be set in rotation by a tension means to produce a drive torque for a motor shaft by a starter handle and which is connected to an engaging member by a damping spring. The drive torque is transmitted to the motor shaft to start the internal combustion engine, whereby under torsion of the damping spring, a twisting of the pulley against the engaging member is rendered possible until a stop element impacts against a counter-stop to delimit the twisting, which enables a high operational readiness of the starting device. In the case of a defect of the damping spring, the stop element and/or the counter-stop is formed from a material which has a higher strength than the material of the engaging member and/or the material of the pulley.

  • Patent number: 9303615
Abstract: There is provided an ignition timing control device for an internal combustion engine capable of appropriately performing knock learning by performing knock learning adapted to an engine combustion phenomenon. The inventor has found the principle of a knock reduction effect due to ignition retard is that “if a combustion period moves toward the retard side, a cylinder volume during the combustion period increases, resulting in curbing of rise in the temperature and pressure of unburned gas”. An ignition timing control device according to the present invention is capable of new knock learning based on the principle, which learns a “cylinder volume rate”. The cylinder volume rate is a parameter determined from the amount of change in cylinder volume. Even when an operational status changes, learned ignition timing obtained from knock control means can be set to an appropriate value by reflecting the learned cylinder volume rate.

Abstract: A vertical axis wind turbine comprises upper and lower rotor blades and upper and lower bearing assemblies. Horizontal members connect the upper rotor blades to the upper bearing assembly and the lower blades connect the upper rotor blades to the lower bearing assembly. The upper rotor blades can be arranged vertically or non-vertically. In non-vertical arrangements, the upper rotor blades can be twisted or swept back in a straight manner. Sweeping jet actuators are incorporated into the rotor blades to deliver oscillating air jets to surfaces of the rotor blades to delay occurrence of dynamic stall. Conduits in the blades can deliver pressurized flow of air to the actuators. The turbine can be supported by a structure that can exerts only horizontal and/or lifting forces on the rotor blade assembly to reduce the load on the lower bearing.

Abstract: A novel oscillator comprises a curved sheet structure. The curved sheet structure comprises a curved sheet and a tensioner. The curved sheet structure oscillates when the tensioner of the curved sheet structure is extended between two rigidly or semi rigidly fixed points and the curved sheet structure is exposed to a fluid flow. The oscillation results in oscillating tension in the tensioner and oscillating motion of the tensioner in directions perpendicular and parallel to the direction of fluid flow. Energy conversion devices to couple the energy out of the oscillator include a coupling in line with the tensioner and a coupling generally perpendicular to the extension of the tensioner.

Abstract: A hybrid geothermal power system is discussed. The system includes a geothermal system including power plant (101) and pumping station (102) and a nuclear plant (103). Pumping station (102) is used to inject fluid from reservoir (104) through an injection well (105) into the bedrock (106) (also referred to as the hot dry rock HDR zone) and extracted via a secondary bore (extraction well) usually coupled to the power plant (101). In the present example however the injection well is linked to the extraction well (107). As fluid is injected into the bedrock a drop in temperature occurs due to heat transfer to the fluid. Nuclear plant (103) is utilized to combat this drop, the plant (103) has the fissionable components (1091, 1092, 1093) of the reactor positioned within bores (1081, 1082, 1083) within the HDR zone.
