Abstract: The invention is a device to dry/clean an animal, such as a dog, cat or child when they are wet or dirty. It consists of two mitts, each having one flat side, attached to opposite ends of a towel. The device is an improvement over a towel since it can better hold the animal or child during drying. Mitts fit on a person's hand. They offer more control but they lack the surface area to dry an animal completely. Combining a towel and two mitts creates a drying instrument which both controls an animal or child and provides an ample surface to dry/clean them. Making the mitts attachable and detachable adds flexibility to the drying device since you can use only the portion of the drying device you need.

Abstract: A method for determining a calibrated aortic pressure waveform from a brachial cuff waveform involves the use of one or more generalized transfer functions. The one or more generalized transfer functions are specific for predetermined brachial cuff pressure ranges, such as below diastolic pressure, between diastolic and systolic pressure, and above systolic pressure. The brachial cuff is inflated to a pressure within the pressure range appropriate for the generalized transfer function to be applied to the brachial cuff waveform to generate the aortic pressure waveform. In some circumstances, it may be necessary to use a calibration transfer function to generate a calibrated aortic waveform. In other circumstances, the calibration transfer function is not necessary.

Abstract: A collar for pet animals may have sensor elements remotely actuatable to measure vital signs of the animal (such as respiration, pulse, temperature and movement) and a processor that can interpret the results of multiple vital sign readings. A two way communication device alerts the pet owner, veterinarian or authorities. A veterinarian can remotely take a particular vital sign measurement when alerted. The sensor elements embedded in the collar's band has at least one elastic pin extending toward the animal's neck to gather data processed on the collar or remotely. To improve STN ratio, an elastic layer may absorb noise from friction due to movement of the animal's head. The collar may adjust the tightness of the band for taking vital sign readings. For example pump may injects air through a tubular compertment running along the circumference of the band. A safety mechanism may release the collar.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting the flow of blood or other fluids in biological tissue by illuminating the biological tissue with two or more beams of coherent light and detecting responsively emitted light. A difference in wavelength, coherence length, beam divergence, or some other property of the beams of illumination causes the beams to preferentially scatter from, be absorbed by, or otherwise interact with respective elements of the biological tissue. Flow properties in one or more regions of the biological tissue (e.g., a region with which both beams of light preferentially interact, a region with which only one of the beams preferentially interacts) could be determined based on detected responsively emitted light from the biological tissue. Variations in speckle patterns over time and/or space, Doppler shifts, or some other properties of the detected light could be used to determine the flow properties.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for storing and recalling metrics associated with physiological signals. It may be determined that the value of a monitored physiological metric corresponds to a stored value. In such cases, a patient monitor may determine that a calibration is not desired. In some cases, a patient monitor may recall calibration parameters associated with the stored value if it determined that the stored value corresponds to the monitored metric value.

Abstract: A vital signs measurement system includes a plurality of light sources emitting into a subject's skin. A plurality of photo sensors receives lights reflected from the subject's skin and converts the lights to a plurality of signals. A processing module receives the plurality of signals and transforms the plurality of signals to a PPG signal by analyzing a correlation coefficient between every two ones of the plurality of signals. The vital signs measurement system improves the measurement accuracy of the physiological information of the participant by the correlation coefficient.

Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for selecting a region of interest for extracting physiological parameters from a video of a subject. In one embodiment the present method involves performing the following. First, time-series signals are received which have been generated by having processing image frames of a video of a subject captured using a single band video camera with a bandpass filter with a pass band in a wavelength range of 495-565 nm and/or 800-1000 nm. The regions of interest are areas where a plethysmographic signal can be detected by the camera. Each time-series signal is associated with a different region of interest. A signal strength is then calculated for each of the time-series signals. The region associated with the time-series signal having a highest signal strength is selected. The time-series signal associated with the selected region can be processed to extract a videoplethysmographic (VPG) signal containing physiological parameters.

Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and a system for detecting signals of pulse diagnosis, and a detecting device of pulse diagnosis. The method comprises following steps. Apply a pressure on an artery of an object, and then detect a pulsation generated from a feedback of the artery at each different pressure value. Compare the similarity of a preset period and a preset vibration amplitude of the artery with a default sphygmogram model at each different pressure value to determine a pressure value of pulse diagnosis by a graphical analog method, and obtain a corresponding sphygmogram according to the pressure value of pulse diagnosis. It will provide standardization and increase the data applicability for personal pulse wave analysis by comparing personal different sphygmogram to determine different pressure value of pulse diagnosis.

Abstract: A new MRI imaging sequence, the Septal Scout, has been presented. This new technique can accurately determine the timing of diastasis windows for the purpose of cardiac gating in applications such as high-resolution coronary MRA. The Septal Scout acquires 1D MR images along the long-axis of the basal ventricular septum either through projection imaging or 2D excitations. Each acquisition produces a line of data along the ventricular septum. The acquisition is repeated over time to generate a time-map of Septal Scouts. The data from the Septal Scout time-map is processed to generate a velocity graph of an ROI near the basal septum. From this graph, the beginning and end of diastasis is determined. This timing information is available for use to facilitate cardiac gating in subsequent high-resolution MR angiography.
