Abstract: When a control retainer and a rotary retainer rotate relative to each other, a plurality of pairs of rollers received in respective pockets are pushed by pillars so as to move to their disengaged position. An anti-rotation means is provided between an outer ring and the control retainer. The anti-rotation means prevents the control retainer from rotating relative to the outer ring when the rollers are engaged, so that that the rollers does not move to their neutral position. This increases reliability. The anti-rotation means includes a plurality of first protrusions formed on the surface of the outer ring, and a plurality of second protrusions formed on the surface of the control retainer axially opposed to the surface of the outer ring. Heat treatment is performed to the first and second protrusions so as to increase the hardness thereof.

Abstract: A drive power distribution device includes a hydraulic pressure sealing-type hydraulic pressure control device for making an operation noise of an on-off valve such as a solenoid valve less recognizable to occupants of a vehicle. By closing the on-off valve and driving the oil pump, a hydraulic pressure detected using a hydraulic pressure detection means reaches a target hydraulic pressure, and fastening power of a hydraulic clutch is maintained at an oil pressure of hydraulic fluid sealed in an oil passage until the on-off valve is opened. The drive power distribution device closes the solenoid valve when the hydraulic pressure is detected to be equal to or less than a predetermined threshold hydraulic pressure and equal to or less than a predetermined threshold vehicle speed. This can prevent synchronization between an accelerator operation by a driver and a closing operation of the solenoid valve.

Abstract: With the method for manufacturing a composite brake disc, which includes a brake disc chamber and a friction ring having an inner profiling, a brake disc chamber blank is introduced into the friction ring. The brake disc chamber blank is then formed into the inner profiling via at least one embossing tool. A composite brake disc permitting a good torque transmission between the friction ring and the brake disc chamber can be manufactured in a cold-forming manner in this way. The forming-in can take place in a hammering manner, in particular by successively implementing a plurality of embossing steps in the region of different profile gaps of the inner profiling. Axial stops can also be simultaneously produced on forming-in. The axial stops serve to stop the brake disc chamber and the friction ring (3) are prevented from axially sliding apart.

Abstract: A method for controlling a variator system of a machine is disclosed. The method includes storing a plurality of work cycle patterns associated with an operation of the machine in a memory module of a control system, and determining operating parameters of the machine based on inputs from a plurality of machine sensors. The method further includes classifying the current work segment as one of the plurality of predetermined work segments and determining an error value based on an actual output speed and a desired output speed of the variator. The method further includes determining a closed-loop gain value corresponding to the current work segment and the error value. The method further includes implementing the determined closed-loop gain and the determined current range to the actuator to adjust position of a swash plate of the variator, to control an output speed of the variator.

Abstract: A seal runner may have an inner annular member, an outer annular member, and a radial wall member joined to the inner annular member according to an angle and extending from the inner annular member to the outer annular member. The seal runner may be positioned axially along a shaft and a bearing may be positioned axially along the shaft such that it is radially between the inner annular member and the outer annular member. In this regard, the seal runner may resemble a “C-shape.” A seal may interface with a seal land radially outboard of the outer annular member. Thus, the seal may be positioned axially near to the bearing so that the axial length of a shaft and accompanying bearing compartment hardware may be minimized.

Abstract: A valve selectively opens and closes a passageway defined by a port. The valve comprises a body defining outer and inner surfaces; the inner surface defining an inner cavity. A sealing arm extends from the body into the inner cavity and is movable between first and second positions for closing and opening the passageway, respectively. A shape memory alloy member is disposed at least partially along the outer surface and alternates between first and second lengths in de-energized and energized states, respectively. The first length is greater than the second length, which constricts about the body. A leg extends from the body into the inner cavity and is moveable between initial and activated positions in the de-energized and energized states, respectively. The leg engages and moves the sealing arm from the first position to the second position when the leg moves from the initial position to the activated position.
