Publication number: 20160280265Abstract: A control device for a land vehicle is described. The control device is set up to control at least one actuator of the land vehicle on the basis of an avoidance trajectory calculated by the control device in order to support a driver of the land vehicle during an evasive maneuver. The control device is also set up to receive sensor signals of at least one sensor; to generate an environmental model from the received sensor signals; to determine the position of an object relative to a current position of the land vehicle in the generated environmental model; and to calculate a preliminary avoidance trajectory. In the calculation of the preliminary avoidance trajectory, the current position of the land vehicle in the generated environmental model constitutes the starting point of the preliminary avoidance trajectory. A preliminary end point of the preliminary avoidance trajectory is determined on the basis of the determined position of the object.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2014Publication date: September 29, 2016Inventors: Carsten Hass, Torsten Bertram, Martin Keller

Publication number: 20160280266Abstract: A vehicle control system includes a controller configured to, when a collision of a host vehicle with another vehicle traveling in a direction that intersects with a front-rear direction of the host vehicle is predicted (Yes in S20), when the collision with the other vehicle is unavoidable (No in S70) and when the other vehicle comes into collision with the host vehicle in the intersecting direction, automatically turn a steered wheel of the host vehicle before the host vehicle collides with the other vehicle. The controller is configured to vary a direction of the steered wheel that is turned by the controller (S100 or S110) in response to whether there is a target, other than the other vehicle, around the host vehicle (Yes or No in S90).Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2014Publication date: September 29, 2016Applicant: TOYOTA JIDOSHA KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Shinya KAWAMATA

Publication number: 20160280267Abstract: An autonomous steering system for a vehicle includes a park assist steering module configured to generate a first steering angle command across a communication network of the vehicle. A backup assist steering module is also configured to generate a second steering angle command across the communication network of the vehicle. A steering angle controller is configured to receive the first and second steering angle commands and generate a third steering angle command for controlling a steered wheel of the vehicle based on acceptable steering column torque conditions for the respective steering module.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2015Publication date: September 29, 2016Inventors: Erick Michael Lavoie, Darrel Alan Recker, Kirt L. Publication number: 20160280268Abstract: A vehicle is provided. The vehicle includes a camera configured to detect a target object in a parking space and a controller programmed to advance the vehicle into the parking space based on a yaw angle of the vehicle and a distance to the target object in response to the camera detecting the presence of the target object. The distance to the target object is based on a vector representing a boundary of the target object.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 27, 2015Publication date: September 29, 2016Inventors: Ali HASSANI, Adil Nizam SIDDIQUI

Publication number: 20160280269Abstract: A sub-frame assembly supports a pair of wheels on a vehicle. The base may be an extrusion having a matrix of panels extending in a vertical direction. The sub-frame assembly has control arm brackets disposed on opposing ends of the base and attachment towers extending above the brackets providing attachment points to connect portions of an independent suspension to the vehicle and support a pair of wheels. The base, control brackets and attachment towers may be individual modular pieces. Left and right hand control brackets and attachment towers may be provided by respective unitary support pieces attached to opposing ends of the base. The unitary support pieces may be extrusions having panels extending in a transverse direction, nonaxial to the base. The base, control arm brackets and attachment towers, alternatively, may be provided by a single unitary extrusion having a matrix of panels extending in a transverse direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2016Publication date: September 29, 2016Inventors: John Joseph Uicker, Sanjay Mehta, Patrick Marchena, Xiaoming Chen, David Anthony Wagner, Michael M. Publication number: 20160280270Abstract: A beam provided with at least one first part that has a main body with an overall U-shaped straight cross-section provided with lateral flanges protruding outwards from the sides of the U, the main body further comprising a bottom part as well as two wings forming the sides of the U. The central portion of the main body defines cells working under tension and under compression, respectively, on either side of a neutral main bending axis formed by two transition zones, which are each located between the U-shaped element and a lateral flange. The bottom part of the main body comprises at least one transition formed by a curvature discontinuity. And at least one wing comprises at least one transition formed by a curvature discontinuity.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2014Publication date: September 29, 2016Inventors: Xavier VALENCIA CARRIO, Sergi MARQUEZ DURAN, Lluis ESPANA DE JUAN, Christophe CAZES, Gregory GATARD, Vincent BARELLI, Emmanuel LEROY, Matthieu DUNAND, Matthieu NIESS

Publication number: 20160280271Abstract: A vehicle body may include a crossmember and a longitudinal member. The vehicle body helps ensure improved load absorption in collision events with small overlap between the crossmember and another vehicle or object. The deformation capabilities of the vehicle body in collision events involving a full surface area of the crossmember are not substantially impaired. Form-fitting members that comprise connection partners may be provided for the longitudinal member, wherein the form-fitting members ensure that a load path of collision energy is introduced into the longitudinal member selectively in the event of a collision with small overlap. A form-fitting member may form a form-fitting connection in a direction of the longitudinal member in the event of a collision.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2014Publication date: September 29, 2016Applicant: thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AGInventors: Martin Kibben, Lothar Patberg, Rolf Peter Röttger, Markus Zörnack

Publication number: 20160280272Abstract: A vehicle front structure includes a front side frame and a first load transmitting member that is joined to a front end and an outer surface in a vehicle-width direction of the front side frame and that tapers from the front of the vehicle toward the rear so as to be formed substantially in the shape of a triangle when viewed in plan view. The first load transmitting member includes a substantially U-shaped portion that is open toward the front side frame. A longitudinal-plate-like second load transmitting member is joined to and along the bottom of the substantially U-shaped portion. A closed cross section is formed by the bottom of the first load transmitting member and the second load transmitting member in a continuous manner in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2016Publication date: September 29, 2016Applicant: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Akira Haga, Tomohito Kamada, Takehiro Kondo
