  • Patent number: 9470209
Abstract: An aerodynamic brake assembly for use with an airfoil such as the blade of a wind turbine rotor comprises deployable upper and/or lower spoiler plates incorporated in or attached to the airfoil. The spoiler plates can deploy under the influence of centrifugal forces when the rotating airfoil or rotor blade reaches a pre-determined rotational speed. The aerodynamic brake assembly may be integrated within the airfoil or attached to the tip of the airfoil such that, when not deployed, the upper and lower spoiler plates have a profile that approximately conforms to the profile of the part of the airfoil to which it the brake assembly is attached. Failsafe deployment of the spoiler plates can occur either upon loss of power to the mechanism, or when the centrifugal force associated with an overspeed condition of the rotor overcomes the holding force of an electromagnet or solenoid.

  • Patent number: 9470213
Abstract: A release mechanism passively releases a mechanical coupling as a result of a temperature rise. The release mechanism includes a breakable element, such as a shape memory alloy (SMA) element, that is configured to break when the element is heated to a predetermined temperature. The breakage of the breakable element releases a mechanical coupling, such as a coupling holding a lid onto a container. The release mechanism may be part of a handle or other device to close the container. The release mechanism may have a mechanical load on it prior to release, a load that in part passes through the breakable element. Most of the load may pass through one or more other members of the release mechanism, providing the force for separation after the release mechanism is triggered. The release mechanism may be used to provide a passive way of releasing a mechanical coupling in response to heating.

Abstract: A device is provided for generating a vacuum for a vacuum cementing device, the device including a channel and a connector for a gas cartridge. The connector has an opener for opening the gas cartridge, and connects the gas cartridge to the channel in a pressure-tight manner, such that gas from the opened gas cartridge flows along the channel to the surroundings of the device. The channel includes at least one T-piece, provided as Venturi nozzle, having a vacuum connector for the vacuum cementing device, such that gas from the opened gas cartridge flowing through the channel generates a negative pressure at the vacuum connector. A method is also provided including steps of opening a gas cartridge, flowing gas from the gas cartridge through a Venturi nozzle, whereby by a negative pressure is generated, and applying the negative pressure to a vacuum cementing system.

  • Patent number: 9470248
Abstract: A flexible response secured mechanical balancing device (D) for multiple hydraulic control actuators (1-2) with a common output member (5a-b). The balancing device (D) provides flexible/continuous fluid-pressure force fight compensation. Balance valves (17-20) are commanded to balance fluid-pressure from a first fluid-pressure network (52a) of a second actuator (2). Each fluid-pressure commanded balance valve (17-20) is arranged to allow relief of differential pressure, directly into a dedicated first (52a) or second fluid-pressure network (52b). A fluid-pressure controlled locking device (21-22) is allowing inhibiting the corresponding pairs of balance valves (17-20) e.g. in case of loss of fluid-pressure. The invention typically applies to vehicles (A) including: aircrafts, rotorcrafts, drones.

Abstract: A cylinder includes a cylinder body assembly, a cylinder rod assembly, and a piston assembly. The cylinder body assembly includes a cylinder body. The cylinder body defines a receiving chamber. The cylinder rod assembly includes a rod fixed with the cylinder body. The rod includes an inclined resisting surface. The piston assembly includes a piston, a piston rod, and one or more resisting member. The piston is slidably received in the receiving chamber and sleeved on the rod. The piston rod protrudes from the piston and extending out from the receiving chamber. The piston rod is sleeved on the rod, and defines a through hole. The resisting member is movably mounted in the through hole. The piston and the piston rod slide relative to the rod, which enable the resisting surface to resist the resisting member to be partially exposed from the through hole.

  • Patent number: 9470254
Abstract: The invention relates to the fixing of a natural ashlar panel to a substructure with an anchor having an internal thread. The invention proposes that the corresponding blind hole be drilled to residual wall thickness R and the anchor be set in a recessed position. The natural ashlar panels with the anchors can thus be transported to the building site in the form of a compact stack. At the building site, a bolt having a stop element is mounted, which stop element is supported on the anchor. At the opposite end the substructure is clamped against the stop element. In that way, the distance of the outer surface of the natural ashlar panel from the substructure is constant even in the event of varying thicknesses D of the natural ashlar panels. As a result, laborious adjustment work is avoided.
