Publication number: 20160345488Abstract: A dry particulate spreader includes an attachment assembly for use with a portable hand-held air blower for entraining granular fertilizer, grass seed or similar materials into the discharge air stream of the blower, whereby the particulate is broadcast by the air stream. The attachment assembly comprises an adapter secured to the outlet tube of the air blower which penetrates the outlet tube and introduces a semi-cylindrical nozzle into the air stream. The downstream side of the nozzle is open to the air stream and to the particulate hopper. The air flow around the nozzle creates a low pressure area on the open side of the nozzle. The low pressure induces the particulate contained in a hopper attached to the adapter to enter the air stream. An adjustable valve is provided between the hopper and the nozzle to regulate particulate flow. The adapter is located near the end of the outlet tube of the air blower so the particulate is well mixed in the air stream before exiting the outlet tube.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 15, 2016Publication date: December 1, 2016Inventor: James Lee Douglas Reitzel

Publication number: 20160345489Abstract: An anhydrous ammonia fertilizer injector includes a tool bar frame with multiple knife injectors. Vapor pressure of the fertilizer forces liquid from a tank through hoses and a vapor separator to a pump. The pump increases pressure above the vapor pressure. Liquid fertilizer passes from the pump through a flow rate sensor, a servo controller and to a manifold. Discharge fittings on the manifold hold orifices. Discharge hoses convey fertilizer from each discharge fitting to each knife. A pressure transducer in each fitting downstream from the orifice sends current pressure readings to a monitor console. The console identifies the largest number of transducer pressures that have readings within a set pressure difference from each reading. The average of the maximum and minimum pressures identified is the center of an acceptable pressure band. A selected deviation sets band limits. The console displays discharge hoses with pressures outside the band limits.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2015Publication date: December 1, 2016Inventors: Douglas L. Litterly, Randall S.
