Abstract: A polishing device for polishing curved lens faces of optical lenses has a workpiece holder for receiving an optical lens and a polishing tool. The polishing tool has a support element, an elastic substructure and a curved polishing surface on the elastic substructure. The polishing tool, with the polishing surface, is driven in a rotating manner about a rotation axis, the workpiece holder being driven in a rotating manner about a first axis, in order to rotate the optical lens. A distance between the workpiece holder and the polishing tool is adjustable along a second axis. An offset between the workpiece holder and the polishing device is adjustable along a third axis, which is aligned transversely in relation to the first axis. A pitch angle between the rotation axis and the first axis is adjustable by tilting about a fourth axis. A method of operating the device is also disclosed.

Abstract: In this link actuation device, arms of a plurality of link mechanisms are driven to be rotated by actuators, whereby the posture of a distal end side link hub is changed. A divided section setter divides a trajectory on a work surface on which an end effector works, into a plurality of sections at pass points and sets the sections. An arm rotation speed calculator calculates a rotation speed at which each arm performs constant speed rotation in each section on the basis of: a time period of movement in the section which is determined from a target moving speed and the distance of the section; and a rotation-angular movement amount of the arm in the section. A posture change controller performs positioning control on each actuator so as to cause its corresponding arm to continuously rotate at the corresponding rotation speed without acceleration/deceleration.

Abstract: The invention provides a razor cartridge with multiple blades and peg(s) or pegged support members that aid in the control of the blades by restricting fore and aft blade movement, which in turn, reduces the amplitude of blade deflection and/or vibration during shaving. This reduction provided by the pegs improves shaving performance. Blades rest between pegs which are rounded or shaped such that the blade bottom portion contacts the peg at one point, forming a single line of contact. The pegs may be in a slalom-like, linear (with one or more peg columns), or offset arrangement. Pegs or pegged support members may be at any location of the razor blade assembly; for instance, at the center and/or at blade slot ends. Pegs may each be of different shapes and may or may not be equidistant or at the same heights as each other, depending on blade spans and exposures.

Abstract: Radio-frequency methods for engineered wood products (EWPs), such as thick EWP products and plywood having higher moisture contents are disclosed. For thick EWP products, intermittent RF is used as the sole energy source to heat the thick EWPs. This method for thick EWPs yields a higher panel MC of 9-12% compared to 5-8% from conventional hot pressing. The RF heating process facilitates manufacturing of structural composite lumber (SCL) products including LVL, oriented strand lumber (OSL) and veneer strand lumber (VSL) in addition to sawn lumber. For plywood products, a method of using RF in pre-pressing of stack of veneer layers for preparation of plywood is developed. In a preferred embodiment a conventional cold pre-press is retrofitted with a radio-frequency (RF) generator that pre-heats the stack of veneer layers to 60-80° C. under pressure. The pre-heating allows for a final hot press at lower press temperature and higher MC within the stack.

Abstract: A system for determining the rotational direction of a ready mix concrete truck drum can be used to accurately determine the time interval between when a batch of concrete is loaded into a ready mix truck and when it is discharged. This time interval is critical to the overall quality of the concrete. The present invention comprises a camera, a computing platform, and software that runs on the computing platform that can interpret the visual data captured by the camera and determine the rotational direction of the ready mix drum. This rotational direction data can then be used to determine the time interval from when the concrete is loaded on the truck and when the concrete is discharged. This time interval directly relates to the quality of the concrete.
