  • Patent number: 9546836
Abstract: A bump stock and interface system for a semi-automatic firearm. In use, the user grasps a handle with one hand and places an index finger of the same hand firmly on a finger rest. When intending to fire a round of ammunition, the user pushes the firearm receiver forward with another hand so that the trigger collides with the immobilized finger on the finger rest. Recoil force separates the trigger from the user's finger on the finger rest. The user again pushes forward the receiver to repeat the firing cycle. A lock is selectively activated to arrest longitudinal movement of the firearm relative to the handle, thereby returning the firearm to normal semi-automatic functionality. Abstract: A small diameter crossbow bolt includes a small diameter shaft having a leading end with an insert to receive a point. The trailing end of shaft has a nock and adjacent fletching. The insert receives a point, such as a target point, broad head, or other point known in the industry. A circumferential spacer is positioned along the shaft between the insert and nock and moved along the shaft as needed to locate the insert for a particular weight distribution, center of gravity positioning, or to separate the spacer from nock. The insert, nock, and spacer each have a diameter substantially equal to the diameter of a prior art bolt. When the diameters of the nock and spacer are equal to the diameter of a prior art bolt, the small diameter crossbow bolt of the present invention can be used interchangeably with prior art bolts without modification to the crossbow.

Abstract: A large caliber, frangible, training projectile imitates, for training purposes, the corresponding tactical projectile. To enable fragmentation of the training projectile at impact, some embodiments of the frangible projectile are partially or entirely made of a material with a lower yield strength than the material used in the counterpart tactical projectile. Some embodiments of the frangible projectile may include portions that are sectioned, welded, or provided with stress risers. Some embodiments of the frangible projectile may include high density particles suspended in a weaker medium. The fragmentation methods may be applied to the overall mass of the projectile, or to a portion of the projectile.

  • Patent number: 9546853
Abstract: An air vehicle, such as a munition like a guided bomb or missile, has a control system that allows control surfaces to be mechanically uncoupled from one or more actuators to allow the control surfaces to freely move (rotate) relative to a fuselage of the vehicle, for example allowing the control surfaces to “weather vane” by assuming an orientation corresponding to the direction of airflow past the air vehicle (direction of airflow relative to the air vehicle). When active positioning of the control surfaces is desired, the control surfaces may be mechanically coupled to one or more actuators that are used to position the control surfaces. The selective coupling of the actuator(s) and the control surfaces may be accomplished by selectively coupling together a sleeve that is mechanically coupled to the control surfaces, and a nut that moves along a shaft of an actuator, for example using a resilient device.

The housing is coupled to an attachment region that attaches to the projectile, wherein the housing is configure to rotate relative to the attachment region. A motor is contained within the housing and a bearing surrounding the motor. The bearing is rigidly attached to the housing such that the motor rotates with the housing and shields the motor from inertial loads experienced by the housing.

  • Patent number: 9546855
Abstract: A line launcher (110) capable of firing a projectile (117) and an attached line (125) up to about 70 meters. It has a barrel (113) large enough for a resilient projectile attached to a line. It has a pre-charge chamber capable of storing a pressurized gas from a pressurized gas cartridge. A trigger mechanism vents the gases in this pre-charge chamber into the barrel to expel the projectile and line. Gas from the pressurized gas cartridge (e.g. a CO2 bulb) is released slowly enough to pressurize the pre-charge chamber but without the cartridge freezing as might occur if the gas was discharged directly from the cartridge into the barrel to directly propel the projectile.

Abstract: A method of filling a projectile case with energetic material includes isostatically pressing a column of the powder to create a pre-formed billet (PFB). The single PFB is placed in and then pressed into the projectile case to create the finished warhead. The single PFB effectively fills a projectile case having a large l/d ratio. The single PFB eliminates the problems and poor quality associated with pressing multiple increments in a projectile case.

  • Patent number: 9546857
Abstract: A hybrid primer device comprising electric primer and chemical primer housed in a percussion cap. The electrical primer comprises single pin or plurality of electrode pin pair. Each electrode pair comprises of at least one anode and cathode pin which are insulated and arranged at predetermined distance from central axis. The length of each pair of anode and cathode pins varies to help create multiple trigger points across the length of the cartridge. The chemical primer provides ignition of propellant in absence of the electric power. Application of high voltage electric pulse across the electrodes generates electric arcs between the pairs at multiple points inside cartridge resulting in instantaneous combustion of the propellant creating a high pressure in the cartridge case which improves the projectile's performance. The electric arcs generated will continue even after the chemical primer is exhausted thus enabling primer to continuously burn the propellant ensuring complete combustion.

The composite material also comprises a plurality of electrically conductive or semi-conductive particles (201). The particles (201) are agglomerated to form a plurality of agglomerates (104, 1403) dispersed within the carrier layer such that each said agglomerate comprises a plurality of the particles (201). The agglomerates are arranged to provide electrical conduction across the thickness of the carrier layer in response to applied pressure such that the electrically responsive composite material has a resistance that reduces in response to applied pressure.
