Abstract: A component is formed by means of additive manufacturing by repeating a series of cycles, where each cycle has a depositing step for forming a powder layer of substantially constant thickness; a pre-heating step, for pre-heating the powder layer; and a melting step, for melting some areas of said powder layer by means of an energy beam so as to form a horizontal section of the component that must be obtained; at the end of all cycles, the top surface of the horizontal section that has been formed is lowered until it reaches a predetermined height; the pre-heating step is performed by moving a heat source above the powder layer at the same time as the depositing step, at least for an initial part of the pre-heating step.

A rigid tube insert is positioned a short distance into the handle second end and extends a short distance outward from the handle second end. Adhesives or fasteners may be used to help secure the components together.

Abstract: Example systems and methods are disclosed for determining tool offset data for a tool attached to a robot at an attachment point. The method may include controlling the robot to contact a reference object with the tool. The reference object may be a rigid object with a known location. A force feedback sensor of the robot may indicate when the tool has contacted the reference object. Once contact is made, data indicating robot position during tool contact may be received. Additionally, the robot may temporarily stop movement of the tool to prevent damage to the tool or the reference object. Next, tool offset data may be determined based on the position of the reference object relative to the robot and the received robot position data. The tool offset data may describe the distance between at least one point on the tool and the attachment point.

Abstract: A pendant provided with a touch panel is provided as a robot operating apparatus. Using the pendant, an operating position of, for example, an operator's touch operation on the touch panel is detected. In the pendant, by calculation responding to the touch operation, a coordinate system having axes is set on the touch panel in response to the touch operation, in which the axes are associated with the axes of a robot. A determination area is also set on the touch panel in the periphery of a start position of the touch operation. The determination area has a predetermined size. In the pendant, an axis being operated of the robot is selected based on an arrival position of the touch operation in the determination area. An operating area on the touch panel is set with the arrival position as the center of the determination area, ensuring a highly-reliable touch operation.

Abstract: Methods and systems for distributing remote assistance to facilitate robotic object manipulation are provided herein. Regions of a model of objects in an environment of a robotic manipulator may be determined, where each region corresponds to a different subset of objects with which the robotic manipulator is configured to perform a respective task. Certain tasks may be identified, and a priority queue of requests for remote assistance associated with the identified tasks may be determined based on expected times at which the robotic manipulator will perform the identified tasks. At least one remote assistor device may then be requested, according to the priority queue, to provide remote assistance with the identified tasks. The robotic manipulator may then be caused to perform the identified tasks based on responses to the requesting, received from the at least one remote assistor device, that indicate how to perform the identified tasks.
