Abstract: The present invention includes a device and method for treatment of retinal detachment, ocular hypertension and glaucoma, and increasing an amplitude of accommodation. The device includes a tapered, mesh tube that within a sclera, expands to deform the sclera, and when placed within the posterior sclera for the treatment of a retinal tear, the device expands deforming the sclera so that the retinal pigment epithelium comes in contact with the retinal tear to seal the tear. For the treatment of ocular hypertension, glaucoma and to increase the amplitude of accommodation, the device is placed within the anterior sclera over the posterior plicata of the ciliary body, which upon expansion causes the underlying ciliary body to deform, resulting in traction on the trabecular meshwork and deformation of the ciliary body, which causes lowering of intraocular pressure, and increases the amplitude of accommodation in patients with ocular hypertension or decreased accommodation.

Abstract: An absorbent article including features facilitating toilet training of a wearer is provided. The article includes at least a first appearing graphic that changes from an initial, less visible state to a subsequent, more visible state in the absence of wetness, thereby to provide positive encouragement to a child during toilet training. The appearing graphic becomes less visible if subjected to liquid. A wetness sensation member may also be provided to give tactile, negative sensation to the child, thereby giving feedback received by at least two different senses. Additionally or alternatively, a second appearing graphic, different from the first appearing graphic, may be provided to increase a child's interest in the toilet training process. The first and second appearing graphics may become visible at different times, thereby providing a sequential or spaced reveal of the image.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a dispenser for adhesive fabrics or tapes, such as bandages or other adhesive medical fabrics or correction tapes. The dispenser has a case in which a supply reel and a take-up reel are mounted. A belt having adhesive fabrics or tapes thereon extends from the supply reel through one or more openings to the exterior of the case, and thence to a take-up reel. The supply reel and the take-up reel are coupled so that the belt is wrapped around the take-up reel as it is unwound from the supply reel and advances to move an adhesive fabric or tape to the exterior of the case for dispensing. The dispenser may optionally have an activation device that allows a user to extend a portion of an adhesive fabric outside the dispenser and dispense and apply the adhesive fabric to a human skin with one hand.

Abstract: A patient transfer device is utilized to transport infant patients between locations within a hospital environment. The patient transfer device includes a center, support section and a pair of side sections that can be moved into contact with each other to surround the infant patient. The first and second side sections each include a handle that can be brought into close proximity to each other and can be grasped by a single hand of a clinician. The patient transfer device includes a heart rate sensor positioned to provide a heart rate measurement of the patient when the patient is received on the patient transfer device. The patient heart rate can be displayed on either an integrated display or wirelessly transmitted to an external display device. In this manner, the heart rate of the infant can be continuously monitored during transport.

A drive mechanism executes a drive pattern for assisting the patient in standing up and/or sitting down. An instruction input device receives an instruction to cause the drive mechanism to execute the drive pattern. A state acquirer acquires an execution state of the drive mechanism which is executing the drive pattern. A controller decides whether or not to cause the drive mechanism to execute the instruction received by the instruction input device, on the basis of the execution state acquired by the state acquirer, and controls the driving of the drive mechanism.

Abstract: A synchronized motion control system for a double electric bed includes two control devices attached to two electric single beds of the double electric bed respectively. Each electric single bed has a driver circuit and a motor. Each control device has a Hall sensor for generating a Hall signal of the motor, a microcontroller electrically connected with the Hall sensor for generating a rotation number signal according to the Hall signal, and a communication unit electrically connected with the microcontroller. The communication units are electrically connected with each other. The microcontroller of one of the control devices compares the two rotation number signals to generate a difference signal. The motor corresponding to the larger rotation number signal is decelerated according to the difference signal, so as to make the two electric single beds perform synchronized motion.
