A device according to embodiments of the present invention may comprise a housing comprising an external lever operable by a user, an internal lever, for applying pressure to a compression spring, which in turn may press a piston to pressurize treatment fluid contained in an internal reservoir, in a high flow rate, through a small diameter catheter, into a patient body. A system according to some embodiment may comprise a device having an external reservoir connected to an inlet thereof, and a catheter connected to an outlet thereof. A method according to some embodiments may comprise actuating levers of the device, compressing a partially loaded compression spring contained in a spring cage, and pressurizing fluid contained in an internal reservoir of the device to be released through an outlet of the device.

Abstract: Described is a needle assembly reuse prevention mechanism comprising a barrier movable between a retracted position and an extended position, a spring coupled to the barrier, a pin formed on the barrier, and a slot receiving the pin. When in the extended position, the barrier substantially covers an opening of a needle assembly storage compartment. The spring forces the barrier in a first direction. The slot has at least one abutment face for abutting the pin and preventing movement of the barrier in the first direction.

Abstract: Described herein is an extravasation tester that pinches an infusion line closed between a wheel and a platen, and then peristaltically withdraws fluid into the infusion line as the wheel is rolled away from a puncture site. Extravasation is determined to have occurred if little or no blood appears in a sight chamber positioned near the puncture site when a test fluid is withdrawn into the infusion line from the puncture site.

Abstract: Method of monitoring a control operation of a medication delivery system, determining whether a signal level received from an analyte sensor is associated with a fault condition and a potential fault condition, and adjusting a medication delivery rate executed by the control operation when it is determined that the signal level from the analyte sensor is associated with one of the fault condition or the potential fault condition, where the medication delivery rate is adjusted to a first predetermined range when the signal level is associated with the fault condition, and adjusted to a second predetermined range when the signal level is associated with the potential fault condition is provided. Devices, systems and kits for implementing the afore-mentioned method are also provided.

  • Patent number: 9572937
Abstract: The invention relates to a clutch mechanism for the transmission of a rotary movement from a gear arrangement comprising a first gear member and a second gear member. The first gear member is rotatable about a longitudinal axis but axially fixed wherein the first gear member, upon rotation, is arranged for translatively moving a second gear member which is prevented from rotating. The clutch mechanism comprises a circumferential shoulder arranged at the second gear member and at least one or a number of resilient clutch fingers with respective inclined inner surfaces arranged at the first gear member, the shoulder arranged for increasingly pressing against the inclined surfaces thereby flexing the clutch fingers outward when the shoulder reaches the clutch fingers in the course of its translation. The clutch mechanism further comprises tube arranged around the clutch fingers, the tube having a number of internal longitudinal splines for engaging the flexed-out clutch fingers.

Abstract: A drive assembly for a medication delivery device is provided which is switchable from an operational state to a resetting state and which comprises: a housing having a proximal end and a distal end, a drive member adapted to be rotated with respect to the housing, and a stop member adapted to prevent rotational movement of the drive member in a first direction with respect to the housing and to permit rotational movement of the drive member in a second direction with respect to the housing, the second direction being opposite to the first direction. In the operational state of the drive assembly the stop member is held in engagement with the drive member, and for switching into the resetting state of the drive assembly the stop member is enabled to disengage from the drive member caused by gravity due to the weight of the stop member.

  • Patent number: 9572941
Abstract: To enable a user to readily determine the gauge of the needle of a needle assembly that has a base and a needle protective housing pivotably attached thereto, the needle assembly is injection molded from a color coded molding material which color was preassigned to correspond to the gauge of the needle. As a result, both the base and the protective housing of the needle assembly have the same specific color, and reflect or provide an indication of the given gauge of the needle. The needle sheath that covers the needle prior to use may be made of a plastics material that may be clear, or have the same or a different color than that of the needle assembly. The gauge of the needle of a fixed needle syringe could also be ascertained by its color coded needle protective housing. Color coded markings that correspond to the gauge of the needle may also be printed onto the syringe barrel of the fixed needle syringe.
