  • Patent number: 9600818
Abstract: An approach is provided for securely authenticating an identity of a user participating in an electronic transaction. A request for a biometric identifier/security question is converted to a first Quick Response (QR) code. Based on user attributes and a request from the user's mobile device to a computer to initiate the transaction, the first QR code is disassembled into first and second portions. The first portion, but not the second portion, is sent to the mobile device. Responsive to the mobile device reassembling the first QR code, receiving and converting the biometric identifier/answer to the security question to a second QR code, disassembling the second QR code into first and second portions, and transmitting the first portion of the second QR code to the computer, the second QR code is reassembled. The transaction is authorized based on whether the biometric identifier/answer matches a data repository record.

  • Patent number: 9600830
Abstract: Methods and arrangements allow merchants to set up advertising campaigns that distribute special offers or discounts and allows users to forward the special offers to friends. The forwarding of the offers could expose merchants to offering more discounts than budgeted and this is a concern. The invention addresses this by having the forwarded offer check with the merchant server or advertising server to see if there is enough budget in the campaign left to allow the issuance of the forwarded offer, and if so, the server issues a new identifier. If not, the user receiving the forwarded offer receives a message saying the campaign has expired. Since every offer has its own identifier, the forwarding of the offers can be tracked, as well as the redemption, which allows for social metric collection.

  • Patent number: 9600848
Abstract: A centralized obituary service that effectively and efficiently distributes death notices, obituaries, to the general public. The service utilizes a user location for a user account in order to display obituaries from a plurality of obituaries to the user account. More specifically, the user location is compared to biographical information of each of the obituaries in order to identify location-related obituaries. Said location-related obituaries are then displayed with a user personal computing (PC) device. Next, the service prompts the user account to enter a search query request through the user PC device, wherein the search query request includes a set of biographical criteria. Abstract: An input data controlling unit preferentially outputs pixel data of an area label for which the operation result is held in a cache. In regard to pixel data of an area label for which the operation result is not held, the input data controlling unit once accumulates the plurality of pixel data in an internal FIFO and then outputs the accumulated pixel data in a lump, to suppress occurrence of a cache miss in the cache. Besides, when accumulating the pixel data in the FIFO, the input data controlling unit reduces a frequency that the area label is changed, by accumulating the pixel data in the FIFO until the FIFO comes to be full of pixel data as much as possible, thereby further suppressing the cache miss.

Abstract: A first derived matrix of transport coefficients and a second derived matrix of transport coefficients are derived from a primary matrix of transport coefficients. Each of the transport coefficients describes transport of a respective image forming element from a first position onto one or more image forming elements at a second position. An approximate inverse of the first derived matrix is ascertained. A modified version of a projection image is determined from the projection image, the approximated inverse of the first derived matrix, and the second derived matrix. The modified version of the projection image is rendered from the first position onto a physical medium at the second position.

Abstract: Systems, methods and computer program products are disclosed for resampling a digital image. According to an implementation, a source image can be presharpened and upsampled to a first upsampled image having a specified image size and a first level of presharpening. The source image is also presharpened and upsampled to a second upsampled image having the specified image size and second level of presharpening that is less than the first level of presharpening. The first and second upsampled images are deblurred. A binary edge mask image is generated from the deblurred, upsampled images. The binary edge mask image is dilated and blurred to generate a deep mask image. The first and second, deblurred upsampled images are blended together using the deep mask image.

  • Patent number: 9600861
Abstract: A super-resolution method for generating a high-resolution (HR) image from a low-resolution (LR) blurred image is provided. The method is based on a transform-invariant directional total variation (TI-DTV) approach with Schattenp=1/2 (S1/2-norm) and L1/2-norm penalties. The S1/2-norm and the L1/2-norm are used to induce a lower-rank component and a sparse component of the LR blurred image so as to determine an affine transform to be adopted in the TI-DTV approach. In particular, the affine transform is determined such that a weighted sum of the S1/2-norm and the L1/2-norm is substantially minimized. Based on the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), an iterative algorithm is developed to determine the affine transform. The determined affine transform is used to transform a candidate HR image to a transformed image used in computing a directional total variation (DTV), which is involved in determining the HR image.
