Since the previously most successful continuously variable transmission is the CVT continuously variable transmission, such continuously variable transmission transmits power depending on the conical disc and steel belt, and the limitation of the continuously variable transmission restrains the extensive application of such continuously variable transmission, whereas the continuously variable transmission of the invention transmits power depending on the mutual compaction between the driving flat disc and the middle flat disc as well as between the middle flat disc and the driven flat disc.

Either the cylindrical outer surface of the support pin or the opposing cylindrical inner surface of the inner ring of the planet bearing includes a network of interconnected grooves. The support pin includes oil feed holes intersecting the grooves. Passages through the planet bearing's inner ring also connect to the grooves. A gas turbine engine includes a fan and LP shaft, which couples a compressor to a turbine. An epicyclic gearing arrangement has a single input from the LP shaft coupled to a sun gear, a single output coupled to the fan's shaft, and a planet bearing with a network of interconnected grooves.

Abstract: When throttle valve opening degree is larger than predetermined throttle valve opening degree Y in the case where a decision on shift to gear stage at which maximum load is applied to predetermined rotary member of automatic transmission is made, the gear stage is not formed. Therefore, large load is restrained from being applied to the predetermined rotary member of the automatic transmission. Besides, gear stage that is lower in vehicle speed than the gear stage by one stage or gear stage that is higher in vehicle speed than the gear stage by one stage is formed depending on whether acceleration requirement is large or small. Therefore, driving torque corresponding to the acceleration requirement is likely to be obtained. In consequence, the load applied to the predetermined rotary member of the automatic transmission can be reduced, and feeling of strangeness can be restrained from being caused by the driving torque.

Abstract: Fluid processing apparatus has a prefabricated branched network of flexible tubing, for conducting process fluid between process elements of the apparatus, and control valves. A tubing support has opposable front and rear plates which define a pattern of support channels between them in which the flexible tubing network lies, so that the support channels limit or prevent expansion of the flexible tubes. Standard non-reinforced tubing can then be used for high-pressure work. The support body plates can be separated to open the channels for insertion or removal of the flexible tubing. The front plate may be transparent. The control valves operate by simply pressing on the tubing in the support channels to block flow, without invasion of the flow path. The tubing sets can be easily replaced, cleaned or sterilized. The invention is useful in a range of controlled-flow processes e.g. chromatography and filtration.
