  • Patent number: 9699643
Abstract: A mobile data network supports making subscriber data addressable as devices in a mobile data network. Each data chunk is assigned a device address in the mobile data network. The data chunk can then be addressed as a device in the mobile data network. Data chunks corresponding to a subscriber are distributed across multiple devices in the mobile data network, which may include subscriber devices, network components in the mobile data network, and specialized devices provided by storage providers. The mobile data network is queried to determine related devices. An ad-hoc network of the related devices is formed. A data query by one of the related devices is sent to the related devices in the ad-hoc network to determine whether the data query can be satisfied by one of the related devices. If not, the data query is sent via normal channels in the mobile data network.

  • Patent number: 9699653
Abstract: In some embodiments, a wireless pairing method involves a touchscreen on a wireless host device combined with a switch on a wireless stylus device. The wireless pairing method uses the time-coincidence of a touch on the host device screen with the detection of a tip switch press on the stylus device as a mode of out-of-band communication to authenticate a pairing of the devices. In such embodiments, a user presses a tip portion of the stylus device against a pairing spot on the host device surface; the wireless devices then form a bonded pair if the touch and/or release of the tip portion of the stylus device with respect to the host device surface are within a pre-determined time co-incidence window of the detection by the host device of that touch and/or release of the tip portion of the stylus device.

  • Patent number: 9699660
Abstract: Techniques of detecting telecom fraud involve applying a combination of real-time data analysis and risk models typically used in authentication applications to phone call metadata that is streamed to a database server on a continual basis to derive phone usage patterns as the database server receives the phone usage data. The database server then compares the derived phone usage patterns to patterns of fraudulent phone usage in order to detect SIM box or SIM cloning fraud in the streamed data. A comparison result that indicates the likelihood of such fraud in a vast set of phone calls may take the form of a risk score derived using risk models typically found in authentication applications.

Abstract: Systems and methods for adjusting cell site parameters are described. The systems and methods cause a map of a geographical area to be displayed, access known or stored location coordinates for antennas at a cell site that is located within the of the geographical area, and present display elements representing the antennas at first positions within the displayed map that correspond to the known location coordinates for the antennas at the cell site. In response to input received from a user, the systems and methods adjust the known location coordinates for the antennas at the cell sites to new location coordinates associated with second positions of the display elements within the displayed map. Further details are described herein.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for establishing a correspondence between a sector of a base station and an antenna, a base station, and an antenna. The base station (or the antenna) generates a modulation signal, and a radio frequency port corresponding to the antenna (or the base station) can receive the modulation signal. Then, the base station determines that there is a correspondence between a radio frequency port that is on the base station side and that sends the modulation signal and a radio frequency port that is on the antenna side and that receives the modulation signal. Therefore, the base station establishes a correspondence between a sector and the antenna, which is highly efficient and highly accurate in comparison with a manual recording manner.

Abstract: A subscriber management system for maintaining active communication sessions during subscriber maintenance activities is provided. The system can delay detaching mobile devices from the mobile network when there are active communication sessions that are associated with subscriber management maintenance activities or customer care activities in order to avoid disrupting the subscriber experience. The system can delay deleting the subscriber information until the active sessions have ended, which will allow the customer care activities to continue uninterrupted. In an embodiment, the subscriber management system can determine whether to detach the active communication session based on the priority of the session, such as whether it is real-time, or with a customer care element of the mobile network.

Abstract: An approach for the analysis of the impact of over the top (OTT) applications is provided, which operate “over the top” of the network applications, with respect to network performance and power consumption on mobile devices. A wireless network for an application-carrying device separate from wireless communications network test equipment is simulated. A wireless communications interface between the simulated network and the application-carrying device is monitored. The monitoring comprises measuring signaling data on a control plane, and measuring application data on a user plane related to at least one application implemented on the application-carrying device. Cross-layer measurement data is generated based on the measured signaling data and application data. The signaling data and the application data are measured on the basis of a common time reference of the test equipment.

Abstract: In order to support generation of network statistics, a policy controller (30) of a mobile network may be provided with a network statistics generator (32) and with an interface (Ni) to a network intelligence function (60). The network statistics generator (32) may use these interfaces of the policy controller (30) for obtaining information needed to generate the network statistics. In addition, the network statistics generator (32) may also use information which is locally available at the policy controller (30). In other words, the policy controller (30) or one or more other nodes may act as sources of information for generating the network statistics. The network statistics generator (32) may select types of information to be used for compiling a certain network statistic and also suitably select nodes to be used as sources of information for obtaining these types of information. This may for example be accomplished on the basis of a request received from the network intelligence function (60).

  • Patent number: 9699678
Abstract: Small anechoic chambers for evaluating a wireless device under test (DUT) are characterized by a set of antennas to which a test signal is applied and for which excitation coefficients are applied such that the test signal approximates a single plane wave or a preselected superposition of plane waves in the near field of the antennas. The test-equipment antennas in the chamber may be as close as one wavelength from the boundary of a test zone in which the DUT is disposed. Hence, the test zone can be in the near field of the test-equipment antennas and the test zone can be less than a wavelength from the chamber walls. Consequently, it is possible to perform tests in a small anechoic chamber that previously required a large anechoic chamber, e.g., advanced spatial channel-model tests and antenna-pattern measurements.

  • Patent number: 9699680
Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) includes a server and receiver, which includes a radio frequency (RF) front-end circuit that receives wireless signals from the mobile nodes within the WLAN and detects baseband signals. A signal waveform detector edge detects a signal waveform and generates a trigger signal indicative of the modulation type, data format and time-of-arrival (TOA) information of a desired signal to be captured. A baseband processor receives the trigger signal from the signal waveform detector and captures the desired signal. A system controller is connected to the baseband processor and configures the baseband processor for processing the desired signal and obtaining message data and signal metrics that are transferred to the system controller to be communicated outbound from the receiver as a client to the server.

Abstract: An apparatus for capturing a signal of interest, e.g., PSS and/or SSS, captures data transmitted by a first RAT by obtaining access to a receive chain for a second RAT during a measurement gap for the first RAT. The signal of interest transmitted by the first RAT is captured during the measurement gap using the receive chain for the second RAT. Access to a receive chain for the second RAT may be obtained in any one of several ways. For example, access may be obtained by 1) requesting receive chain access for the second RAT for LTE measurements through a virtual flow, 2) entering into a power save mode, 3) tuning to a non-operating channel, 4) setting network allocation vector (NAV) at or above a threshold value, or 5) entering a measurement mode during which the receive chain for the second RAT is prevented from performing WLAN operations.
